Extractions: In 132 Heng invented the first seismoscope for measuring earthquakes. Heng's device was in the shape of a cylinder with eight dragon heads around the top, each with a ball in its mouth. Around the bottom were eight frogs, each directly under a dragon head. When an earthquake occurred, a ball fell out of a the dragon's mouth into a frog's mouth, making a noise.

China ABSTRACT The fast pulsation events, corresponding optic activities and correlative events observed with the acousto-optic spectrograph at the Yunnan Observatory during the 22nd solar cycle are statistically analyzed in this present article. Some basic characteristics of the pulsation events in the 230-300MHz range are obtained. In particular, the unusual events with the narrow-bandwidth ( ) and the extremely short period ( 25-55 ms ) pulsations phenomena are obtained. The very short period pulsation may be attributed to an early dynamic structure model ( Vlahos, Sharma and Papadopoulos, 1983 ), i.e. a beam of precipitating electrons in a flaring loop drives electrostatic upper hybrid waves. These electrostatic waves interact coherently with each other via wave-wave nonlinear oscillations to produce electromagnetic radiation with the period of at twice the upper hybrid frequency ( Fleishman, Stepanov, and Yurovsky, 1994; Vlahos, Sharma, and Papadopoulos, 1983 ). From the results of the numerical analysis of the model mentioned above, the dynamic development of the nonlinear interactions are "spiky" in time ( the minimum duration can be down to (

Extractions: Heng was a mathematician, astronomer and geographer. He became chief astrologer and minister under the Emperor An'ti of China. In the year 123 he corrected the calendar to bring it into line with the seasons. In 132 Heng invented the first seismoscope for measuring earthquakes. Heng was the first person in China to construct a rotating celestial globe. He wrote about this in his work Hun-i chu where he describes his version of the universe as follows:- The sky is like a hen's egg, and is as round as a crossbow pellet; the Earth is like the yolk of the egg, lying alone at the centre. The sky is large and the Earth small. In another work Lin Hsien , he describes the stars:- North and south of the equator there are groups which are always brightly shining.

Extractions: Traditional Dat Mo Stick A t the age of 75yrs, Master Deng Er Qian won a gold medal at the Shanghai championships, with the Dat Mo Stick. When he passed this form on to Bob Fermor, Master Deng said to him "Even though our two countries are far apart, when you perform the Dat Mo Stick, we will be as one". Bob Fermor being one of the United Kingdom's leading weapon experts, feels honoured to have gained this transmission of the Traditional Dat Mo Stick, as much of the Dat Mo Forms practised today are merely Broad Sword patterns, using a walking stick. Bob Fermor is very well known within the martial arts world as one of the leading weapons exponents. If you are interested in learning the Traditional Dat Mo Stick, then please do not hesitate to contact Bob Fermor Brief History of Traditional Dat Mo Stick I t is believed that the Traditional Dat Mo Stick Form comes from the Shaolin Temple and predates the burning of the temple in Henan. The Dat Mo Stick has two lineage branches: 1. Shaolin Si, 2. Tagou School. It is also believed that there are two sections of the Dat Mo Stick, Section 1 - composed of 40 forms and Section 2 - composed of 48 forms. The monks usually performed the two sections together as one set.
