Jason Allen Diekman, 20, was arrested without incident this morning at his home by special agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Diekman is scheduled to make his first court appearance on the wire fraud charge this afternoon in United States District Court in Los Angeles. Diekman was free on a $100,000 bond after pleading guilty last November to federal charges of hacking into NASA computers and using stolen credit card numbers to purchase electronic equipment. In that case, Diekman pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of intentional unauthorized access of a government computer; one felony count of knowingly transmitting a program, code and command which recklessly caused damage to a computer; and one felony charge of unauthorized use of a credit card to obtain approximately $6,000 in electronic equipment.

Jason Allen Diekman, 20, was sentenced on three separate computer hacking cases, one of which involved the use of stolen credit card numbers in an attempt to wire transfer money through the Western Union Corporation. In the first case, Diekman pleaded guilty in November 2000 to charges of hacking into NASA computers and using stolen credit card numbers to purchase electronic equipment. In that case, Diekman pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of intentional unauthorized access of a government computer; one felony count of knowingly transmitting a program, code and command which recklessly caused damage to a computer; and one felony charge of unauthorized use of a credit card to obtain over $6,000 in electronic equipment. In relation to the OSU case, Diekman also pleaded guilty to a wire fraud charge after individuals affiliated with him attempted to make three wire transfers through Western Union. In all three attempts, a person telephoned Western Union and requested that money be transferred to Jason Diekman of Orange County, California. In only one of the three transfers did the issuing credit card company initiate the transfer process, and that transfer was halted by Western Union security personnel.

Louder Please show featuring The Stars of Rock and the as-of-then-unnammed band with Jason Martin and Matto and Mike (whose last names I don't know) Valentine's, Albany, NY April 30, 2001 Yep, another review about a week after the show. Stupid finals week. Anyway, this show was so cute! (in the strange way that I use the word "cute" at least) I always look out for Jason Martin shows and the Stars of Rock were pretty rad themselves. The Stars of Rock were the first ones to play - I guess I'll call them indie pop. Their show was hilarious! And rockin'. When a band covers AC/DC they are rockin', especially if a guy wearing a large, quilted, cat helmet joins them. I don't remember the names of any of their songs (not their fault, I just haven't gotten to the point where I wear ear-plugs and take notes at shows), but I remember them being really good in a kind of classic Kindercore sort of way. Yay them! The other band played next. (Yay for unhelpful sentences!) They came out in their freaky get-up with the drummer in a dress hooting and hollering with his hands over his head, the bass player in a shower cap and sunglasses, and Jason Martin with a bucket-and-flashlight assembly on his head. Things pretty much continued in this vein. They were bursting with manic creativity and I got the impression that although nothing they did made all that much sense, it all fit together to form some strange, perfect whole. Or maybe they're just a bunch of lunatics. Either way, it was totally entertaining and fun and I'd totally go out to be confused by them again. Apparently their name is now The Tower. They had a big thing at the end where they went through a list that someone gave them of potential band names - I still say they should have used "Imaginary Angry Face."

We went out on the trails around 2:00 pm because that's when we get off broadcasting, and also because that's the warmest time of the day. The lizards come out in the sun so it's easy to find them. We start out with a fishing pole and a lasso of dental floss really high tech stuff! When you sneak up behind the lizards and they stop moving, you slip the loop of floss around their neck and pull. We take them off the pole and keep them in a cooler for the next day when we display them in the broadcasts. The research we do on herps (reptiles and amphibians) focuses on the importance of monitoring them. They are a good indicator of the state of the environment. Since the salamanders breathe through their skin, if there was a change in the air, say due to pollution, the salamander would be the first to show an effect. The type of lizards we searched for yesterday are called Side Blotched lizards and, yep, you guessed it, they have a blotch of color on their sides. Another thing about them that I found interesting and recently learned is that they all have different colors underneath their chins: yellow, blue, and orange. All of the females have yellow blotches. Males have either yellow, blue or orange, and the colors indicate their behavior during the mating season.
