Extractions: 150g / 5oz fusilli (spiral) pasta 50g / 2oz pecan nuts 200g / 7oz marscapone 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds Cut the apricots in half. Cut the grapefruit into segments, with the skin and pith chopped off, so that the flesh is exposed. Marinate the fruit in the wine for at least one hour. Cook the pasta until al dente While the pasta is cooking, break the pecans into pieces, and brown in a dry pan. Discard (or drink!) the bulk of the marinating wine, and gently heat the fruit in a large pan. Add the marscapone to the fruit, and gently heat through. Add the pasta, pecans and poppy seeds, and combine. Serve immediately, with a glass of the remaining wine... All comments are welcome! Ray, at least, would see it that way. Luckily for us, the Riviera attended the 1996 and 1997 RCW 139 conventions in Toronto. (For a full report on those conventions, please click here: RCW 139 Well, it was actually one of the four stunt Rivieras in attendance at the cons, rather than the Real Riv - and therein lies the story behind a Due South continuity error... Ray's Real Riviera is a 1971 model, while the stunt Rivs are all (or at least mostly) 1972 models. Ray and Fraser usually refer to the Riv as a 71 model, but in a couple of episodes they mistakenly say it's a 72 model - the confusion was caused by the stunt Rivs being a different year. Extractions: Although Due South has been touted by some press as "the Mountie show," much of its success can be attributed to actor David Marciano, whose presence as the cynical Chicago Detective Ray Vecchio provided a perfect foil to the precise Mountie. David was born in Newark, New Jersey, and his family moved to Belleville, New Jersey, then back to Newark when David was eight years old. Acting was not something in his blood at that age, as it seems to be with many other performers. He never tried out for dramatics while in school, instead concentrating on sports, but because he wasn't large enough and was quickly stomped on by larger classmates, he soon quit the freshman football team. High school and the difficult teen years brought on other difficulties. "When I was 17, I was diagnosed as self-destructive," he said. He fell into drugs, gambling and hanging out with the wrong people. Fortunately, David pulled himself out of that phase. Now he can use that material in research for his work.
