Extractions: Neil Aherne Born 1972 After graduating from Staffordshire University in 1997, Neil continued his relentless battle with studies and works based around the human figure. With a passion for bright vibrant colours and striking images Neil began to follow and be influenced by works of the German Expressionists Movement of the 1920's. Inspiration was drawn from one of these artists Franz Marc, with his striking technicolour depictions of wild animals set against abstract landscapes. Extensive preparation work developed and gave rise to this collection of equine studies. Medium: Oil on Canvas BA Hons in Fine Art Pat Ames Pat grew up in North London and now lives in Hertfordshire. She paints organically', inspired by colour, texture and emotion. Rather than including recognizable objects in her work, Pat uses the elements of painting itself colour, line, shape, brush strokes, texture and light. Pat could be said to be working under the umbrella of abstract expressionism. Although not wanting to give her work such a specific label, her paintings bare a great similarity with the aims and style of such work. Painting is a wonderful medium for emotion; I see my art as the creation of feeling and energy - bright, passionate and thought provoking.
