Extractions: Troy named to prestigious New England Football Writers Team MEDFORD Four members of the 1999 Tufts University football team were named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Star Team announced yesterday. The league's 10 head coaches met at Tufts University and selected the All-Star squad and Players of the Year. Senior WR Jon Troy (Melrose, MA/Melrose) , senior OL Mo Glynn (Croton, NY/Croton-Harmon) , senior DT Gerry Topping (Westborough, MA/Westborough) and junior CB/KR Brian Holmes (Newport, NH/Newport) were selected All-NESCAC. With five positions on the team filled by Tufts players, the 4-4 Jumbos were the most recognized team along with Bates College. Troy was also named to the 1999 All-New England Division II-III All-Star Team as selected by the New England Football Writers. "These guys were all leaders by example," head coach Bill Samko said. "As much as they contributed individually, they added more to the team with their attitude and effort. I can guarantee that though they're pleased to be named All-Stars, each one of them would trade it for a win or two out of the close losses we had this year." One of the top receivers in the country this fall, Troy averaged 8.8 receptions per game (6th in NCAA Div. III) and 106.8 yards per game (18th). He set the team's single-season and career records in both receptions (70; 184) and yards (855; 2,511) and tied team marks with 15 receptions versus Williams on October 23 and with 12 career touchdown catches. He is also a Northeast Region Academic All-Star.

Extractions: Lee in, Goodrich in trouble January 15, 2003 The latest addition to the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff for Bill Parcells is Arkansas assistant coach David Lee. Lee, who spent seven years at Rice under Ken Hatfield before coaching the 2002 season with quarterbacks for Houston Nutt at Arkansas, is expected to be a quality control/offensive coach for Parcells and in charge of scout teams. A 1975 graduate of Vanderbilt (Parcells was DC at Vandy from 1973-74), Lee previously coached with Hatfield at Arkansas from 1984-88. Under Hatfield with the Owls, Lee was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Lee began his coaching career at Tennessee-Martin (1975-76), then returned to Vanderbilt (1977) before heading to Ole Miss (1978-82). He was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at New Mexico in 1983 and worked at UTEP from 1989-93. In other Cowboys coaching news, Dave Campo has hired one of his assistants in Dallas to serve under his role as defensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns: Andre Patterson. Another assistant to Campo in Dallas, Jerry Sullivan, has accepted the position of offensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals. Jim Jeffcoat will remain with the Cowboys to coach defensive ends, as will strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek, kicking coach Steve Hoffman and linebackers coach Gary Gibbs.

BBC SPORT | CHELSEA | Bates - The Ruthless Businessman was a guest of Everton owner bill Kenwright, sitting bates has invested too much timeand money pushing Vialli was regarded as one of football's most dignified http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/english/football/teams/c/chelsea/newsid_922000/92
Extractions: By BBC Sport Online's Phil McNulty Ken Bates prepared to sack Gianluca Vialli by watching "Brief Encounter" in London's Theatreland - but it was nothing compared to the drama played out at Chelsea less than 24 hours later. Bates was a guest of Everton owner Bill Kenwright, sitting just feet away from Walter Smith, the man he labelled his own personal manager of the year last season. Chelsea's outspoken chairman did not join the after-show party, probably preferring to sleep on the decision to dismiss the manager who lifted the FA Cup at Wembley only four months ago. The removal of Gianluca Vialli is a drastic move, even by the standards of a singular man who, according to Sir Alex Ferguson, is the most self-opinionated chairman since Mao. And perhaps he proved Ferguson's point by sacking a manager he happily handed £25m to spend on squad re-inforcements last summer.
