Extractions: PHILIP CARLSON/The Capital-Journal WAMEGO As a way to explain Earth and its inhabitants to civilizations elsewhere in the universe, NASA placed on its Voyager I and II spacecrafts a gold-plated phonograph record that included Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. Violinist Stefan Milenkovich used the same tactic Wednesday to reach another population, many of whom might consider classical music alien. Milenkovich played Bach for a group of Wamego High School students assembled in the Columbian Theatre. After he and pianist Rohan De Silva played a movement from Bach's Sonata for Violin and Piano in E Major, Milenkovich immediately told the students they didn't have to understand all of the nuances of classical music to appreciate it. "If you like it, that's good enough," said Milenkovich, who spent Wednesday in Wamego discussing classical music and playing it for schoolchildren. He will do the same today in Manhattan, where on Friday night he will give a recital at Kansas State University's All Faiths Chapel.
