Even for those enthusiasts that don't make music their lifelong quest,a certain amount of commitment is required. 7) Tell me about the violin you will be playing on Dec. 02 at Alice Tully, and the special meaning it has for you. The violin that I will be playing on the 2nd December at Alice Tully Hall, was kindly being lent to me by Joel Levin of Machold Rare Violins. This instrument has a real poignancy for me. It is a 1757 Giovanni Baptiste Guadagnini. The last owner of this exquisite instrument was Alma Rose, daughter of the famous violinist Arnold Rose who played first violin in the Vienna Philharmonic under Gustav Mahler. Arnold Rose was married to Mahler's sister making Gustav Mahler Alma's uncle. Alma had only a short time to play the violin before perishing at the hands of the Nazis at Auschwitz. This 1757 Guadagnini was given to a Dutch friend of hers, and was has been safely kept through the years. My opportunity to play it is kind of Alma's link back to this world. Alma's voice and gift have been silenced by her tragic demise, perhaps by playing her beautiful instrument in concert, the music will evoke her passion and pay humble tribute to her memory.

The theory behind it goes, every actor/actress in Hollywood can be linked to Kevin Bacon via the movies he's been in, within six degrees of seperation. The goal of the game is to connect an actress/actor to the man himself within six moves, or as few moves as possible. Example: Madonna can be linked in two degrees: She was in "A League Of their Own" with Tom Hanks, and Tom Hanks was in "Apollo 13" with Kevin Bacon. So, this is a filmography of Kevin Bacon, and lists of who co-starred with him. The "Kevin Bacon Game" Cheat Centre. Wew, i think thats about it. References: Internet Movie Database

Extractions: International Gathering, March 23-25 U.Va. Conference Gives Voice To Music Silenced By Hitler February 16, 2001 Calling on a combination of racial doctrine, Wagnerian anti-Semitism, and their own belief of Aryan supremacy, the Third Reich sought to destroy every form of music it had branded with the term Entartete Musik (degenerate music) during the period that led to World War II. Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels worked closely to formulate a plan that would erase this music from the face of the earth. Through their efforts, a generation of musical innovation and promise was not only abruptly curtailed in Europe, but excluded from its rightful status in history. What should have been the dawning of a thrilling new phase of musical evolution, instead fell silent under the dark shadows of the swastika. The Music Suppressed by the Third Reich International Conference will feature a gathering of international scholars and musicians to lead seminars and give performances on the grounds of the University of Virginia on March 23 through 25.

There they incarcerated some of Europe's most gifted artists, musicians, composers and writers who, despite the inhuman living conditions, sustained an active cultural community. Extractions: Miria Kramer A rapturous review after her recent recital at the Lincoln Center in New York, recorded that Miriam Kramer was a gifted young violinist who proved a soulful and virtuosic performer, showing flair and temperament, fine sensitivity and warmth. Our Ferneham Hall audience probably said the same about Miriams performance of Barbers concerto with HCO in May, 2001 and that is one very good reason for the prompt invitation to return to Hampshire, this time to play Saint Saëns. Miriam was born in Connecticut, although she now lives in London. Her grandfather was an opera singer and two of her uncle were concert violinists. Henryk Szeryng recognised her precocious talent and she began her studies at four year old giving her first concerto performance only three year later. After graduating from the Eastman Rochester School, she came to Londons Guildhall School to study with Max Rostal and Yfrah Neaman. Miriam has played recently in France, Wales, England and America, receiving almost rave review especially for her debut at the Wigmore Hall. Her versatility is endless and her wide-ranging concerts include
