Extractions: By CARL HOOVER Tribune-Herald entertainment editor Violinist Corey Cerovsek's performance resume reads like an atlas, with concerts and recitals in France, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Israel, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain, Japan, Hong Kong, Iceland, Australia, China and dozens of American cities. Cerovsek returns to Waco on Thursday night for his second concert with the Waco Symphony Orchestra. Before that, the violinist came to Baylor University for a performance with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra and his mentor, master violinist Josef Gingold, in what would become Gingold's final public performance before his death in 1997. Cerovsek enjoys revisiting cities where he's performed, for good reason, he says. "If they invite you back, they like you," the 30-year-old violinist said during a concert stop in Montreal, Quebec. A native Canadian, Cerovsek studied in the United States, earning master's degrees in music and mathematics from Indiana University by the time he turned 16. At that time, he was seen, and rightly so, as a young prodigy. Now he's a seasoned professional, known around the world for his fluid skill and fine sense of interpretation.
