5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely LSAT Life Saver
The LSAT Logic Games Strategy Guide was truly a life-saver for me as I prepared for the LSAT. I found the logic games to be absolutely counter-intuitive, and struggled with each problem for hours, never understand really how I arrived at an answer, or how a particular answer was supposed to be correct when checking myself.

I knew these problems would be my downfall on the exam, and decided to take a chance with ATLAS. I'm glad I did! Not only are their techniques simple and effective, I began to consider the Logic questions my strongest part of the test! My score improved 9 points after using the ATLAS materials, and I would recommend anyone struggling with any part of the test to order then today -- it will be money very well spent if you have the desire to do well on the LSAT.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Logic Games Book, hands down!
After searching high and low for the perfect LSAT logic games book, I almost gave up on finding a prep guide that would break down the games and make them understandable. I will say this with full confidence: This Logic Games Prep Guide even brings the mighty Powerscore Logic Games Bible to its knees!! I've used Powerscore, Nova Master the LSAT, ExamKrackers, and Kaplan; and in my opinion, Atlas has the best setups and tips on the market. Before, I had difficulty attacking logic games and I grew frustrated over the games. Now, I confidently shred through the different games and I actually have fun doing the games! This book is definitely a treasure within a sea of LSAT prep books! I highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This made the games easy!
I am so happy with this book!I used 4 others and this is the best, BY FAR!I took the LSAT in Dec and the games were EASY after working in this book.I took the LSAT in September and canceled my score because I was struggling with the games. What a difference this time! FANTASTIC! Thank you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Atlas LSAT Logic Games Strategy Guide
Smart Logic Games Guide.
Atlas LSAT Logic Games Study Guide is an excellent resource to get a handle on LSAT logic games.
The techniques and explanations presented in the book make excellent sense. Just as valuable is the tone of the presentation which manifested for me the possibility of completing this challenging section of LSAT competently and confidently.
The book breaks down games into various types cleanly and without unnecessary complexity. This suits me perfectly since I am not a big fan of methods which devise labyrinthine taxonomy for different games and questions. The test makers make it difficult enough without added efforts to muddy things.
Ultimately, you will benefit most from creating your own approach. It must be something that makes sense to you. This book has great many techniques which
you will want in your arsenal.
My only reservation about the book is actually something that is also valuable. I now prefer simply writing out logical chains for binary aka in/out games.
However, this approach was not obvious to me at first and for a long time I actively sought something along the lines of drawing arrows between two sets of variables, if you know what I mean. The approach in the book does an excellent job of presenting such approach, but at this point the alternative became more intuitive.
You must practice what you learn, get as much practice as you can with real LSAT questions. In addition, the authors of this book publish free LSAT type logic games on their web site[...]. They are challenging and fun.
Good luck on the test! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars not good for a 'base" study book
I have explored (bought or borrowed) almost every prep series out there on the market. I got to Barron's last and I must admit it was very disappointing. I have reviewed both the 12th and 13th editions and they are very similar so if you really love this series just buy one not both.

Now since I don't like this series I will say this, do not try to learn their techniques they truly are rubbish. The explanations are very short and do not give you much insight. Also I really just laughed out loud when I read through the logic games and their suggested set-ups. OMG, if you do these set-ups first off they will eat at your time (way too elaborate) AND they will confuse the heck out of you! It took more energy to try to follow the suggested format then to just use commonsense and guess (assuming the question is just that difficult).

The one positive I will note is that the questions in the diagnostic part and the sample tests are "closer" to real LSAT questions when compared to Kaplan but that isn't saying much. In my humble opinion official LSAT material paired with Powerscore truly is the best stuff on the market for those of you (like me) who are "teaching" ourselves vs. classroom instruction. If you insist on using this just use it for more practice tests but know that these are "easier" than the real deal so your score will tend to be inflated.
** gave this two stars simply because the tests are better than Kaplan, but again that is NOT saying much.

1-0 out of 5 stars mediocre at best
    M. Yau is right, the quality of this book seems sub-par.You can sense a difference between what the real tests questions feel like versus the ones created for the book, and the explanations of the answers get very lazy as the book goes on, supplying no real explanations. After I while I didn't trust whether I was getting an accurate barometer of a real LSAT.Also there are several typos and mistakes in the book, which make you doubt what you're reading sometimes when you come across a stumper.I'm very frustrated and I'm about to drop this book and go buy a new one.

1-0 out of 5 stars poor practice questions
the book gives 2 actual exams and 3 "lsat-like" exams along with practice "lsat-like" questions in each of the three sections.when you go through the "lsat-like" questions, you can tell there is a difference in the quality of the problem sets and questions.but much worse than the fact that the "lsat-like" problems are not comparable quality to the actual tests, the answer section gives very poor explanations for why one answer is better than the others, except to say that it is correct and the others are not.

the practice tests that are not real also fall short of providing a conversion from raw-score to actual lsat score, so even after you spend a full two-three hours taking a practice test, you don't really know how it would have been scored.

i would recommend buying actual lsat tests to practice off of or the kaplan books that have better explanations for the answers. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Seemed to help...
I took the LSAT for the very first time in September.Literally the only prep I did was go through this book, and I didn't even go through it extensively.Just to get a background of me, I knew nothing of the LSAT until about 6 months ago...I mean nothing, I didn't know how it was scored, how many sections, what kinds of sections, etc. This book provided me with all of the background and simple, yet effective, strategies. Sometimes, I think simple is better...I didn't over-analyze on the test, b/c in reality, the test is pretty straight foreward. Anyway, I made an above average schore (not by much)...a good score, not amazing (in the 70th percentile). Friends of mine used other books, took expensive classes, etc...and I did better b/c I was relaxed and only moderately prepared so there was no over-analysis...

4-0 out of 5 stars amazing place to start if you start early
I really do like this book.I did not know what to expect for the LSAT, and the princeton reviewput me at ease.It is something that I breazed through in about a week. But, the book does encourage you to use it as a supplement to other practice tests.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners, but that's about it
This review is my honest evaluation of the Princeton Review book and a response to R. Flood's contention that the PowerScore books are ineffective and that the company itself is unreliable/untrustworthy.

Princeton Review's "Cracking the LSAT" was the first book I bought for LSAT self-study as I felt I should start with something simple and comprehensive in order to get a feel for the LSAT.This book accomplished that goal, but nothing more.It introduced me to the basic strategies one needs to score well and the general structure of the test itself, but it really only scratches the surface in terms of truly effective techniques or understanding of the test. Many of the explanations were a bit too general, and the logic games section was especially unsatisfactory.

That said, PowerScore is a far greater test prep company when it comes to the LSAT.I am certainly not one of those reviewers who is supposedly getting a cut of the deal for praising the PowerScore Logic Games and Logical Reasoning Bibles.I'm just a college undergrad who's looking to score well on the test.Having read through Princeton Review's book, Kaplan's "LSAT 180", and both PowerScore books, I can say with confidence that PowerScore gets it right.Their system is comprehensive AND deep. They explain every concept tested on the test with a rigorous, near-mechanical approach that absolutely saves time and boosts accuracy.Using Princeton Review's logic games techniques, for example, I was lucky if I could finish 2-3 games within 35 minutes. But after having finished reading through PowerScore's Logic Games Bible, I can now do most logic games sections easily with very few errors.

I don't mean to overstate PowerScore's superiority vis-a-vis companies like Princeton Review or Kaplan, but it's hard not to when one compares the frankly shallow and overly general strategies taught by the latter two.The PowerScore books are certainly expensive, but they're worth it for the serious self-studier.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hands on Practical Advice
I bought Princeton, Kaplan, and Barron's, and Princeton seems to be the best so far. Princeton gives the best detailed explainations of the logical reasoning and games. They go through each question type and analyze how to answer it. They also give you several types of games and show you how to diagram them out and reason through them. Kaplan in their Logical Reasoning section just says "these are the types of questions you will encounter" they don't give you questions with answers that you have to pick from, and then explain the reason why one is right or wrong (they do do this on the practice section). They also don't do this in the games section. I found Kaplan to be much more theoretical and Princeton much more practical. However, on the upside, Kaplan's 2008 book contains three Real LSATs where as Princeton has only made-up tests. Also, Kaplan's 2008 contains the revisions to the reading section and writing prompt. Your best bet is to buy both books for comparison so you get a well-rounded experience.

I have tutored the SAT, and have taken the GRE twice, and my experience has shown that Kaplan, Princeton, and Barrons (the best for GRE and SAT jury's out on LSAT) all have something to offer, but each are missing something too, so to get the most out of your preparation, it is best to get all three books so you will get a well rounded experience.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not good at all!!!
It's ok.I was shocked that on the DVD, when asked "who do you think makes the test questions," some strange comments are made. One "woman" says, "MEN" with that "I hate men" look in her eyes. Then another woman says "White men."What's the point of including that? What a stupid thing to put in to study one of the most difficult tests in existence. Why did they put it in there? If you listen to the LSAT podcast series from Princeton, you will understand. It's an organization with an agenda that, although the arguments are logically correct, pushes an agenda behind everything they do.I found this offensive.

The book itself is ok but nothing special. At points, almost patronizing. (Who are they marketing to?Elemntary students.)If anything at all, Princeton review has shown me that the great days of independent thought and diginity in law (and education) are long behind us.

The Logical Reasoning Bible by Powerscore is far superior to this "feel good" about logic in the absence of good study. ... Read more

Though it bills itself as 2 Real LSATs Explained, thisbook contains much more. Just for starters, it includes two complete"released" exams, answer keys, and highly detailed explanations thattell you how to identify quickly the type of question asked and how togo about answering it. For example, in the analytical-reasoningsection, the authors have drawn diagrams to help establish therelationships between the characters in the problems--as should you, when you take your LSAT.

To help you get to the point where you can benefit from taking apractice exam, this book starts out with a section on basics (whichpoints out how the LSAT relates to the skills you'll need to succeedin law school), a "strategy overview" to help you take control of yourtest, and information on time management (i.e., how much time you canallot per question) and section management (they suggest skimming sothat you answer the easy questions first). The basics section isfollowed by topical chapters on each of the four sections of theexam. Because logical reasoning constitutes half your LSAT score, thelongest chapter is devoted to that--but all chapters include tips onwhat the sections are intended to measure, step-by-step instructionson solving the different types of questions, and a practice set andexplanatory answers. A final chapter entitled "Putting It AllTogether" returns to the topic of "Test Mentality," as well as moremundane advice about ensuring you fill in the correct ovals on theanswer sheet. With its straightforward tone, detailed explanations, and crucial information summaries in the margins, 2 Real LSATsExplained is a real help to anyone preparing for this difficultexam.--C. B. 2-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
This book is a disappointment. I took a free Kaplan test through my school, and it was the same one in the book. Most of the stuff is pretty explanatory, and you can learn more by getting a general LSAT book (I prefer Princeton Review to Kaplan). You don't get much out of only two tests. I would get the Princeton Review LSAT book and then buy real tests from LSDAS and try to find out why I got them wrong on my own. But believe them when they tell you the LSAT is important. It really opened doors for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kaplan 2 Real LSATs is a big help!
This book is essential for all prospective LSAT takers. It is superior to the LSAT Triple Prep by LSAC because it contains two real LSATs plus full explanations of each answer. The best approach is probably to use the Kaplan book first, and then use the skills you have learned with the Triple Prep tests from LSAC. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars WRONG ANSWERS THROUGHOUT
I bought this product after taking a Kaplan class and wanting to brush up on the logic games before taking the test for a second time.

This product is HORRIBLE!I counted 3 WRONG answers and I didn't even get through the cards.I've written the company and plan to return the product.Save your money, folks.I'm really disappointed in Kaplan for this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product as an additional practice
These flashcards are big and good. They teach each type of games from basics to more advance techniques, and is great as a review, additional practice or to solidify your foundation of games. Recommended.

2-0 out of 5 stars Misprints hurt what is otherwise also mediocre tool
I won't lie, I did find some use for these cards. There were a few things it taught me that I found very useful and enlightening. However, this is watered down by dozens and dozens of redundant cards, which are a slog to get through. Furthermore, the cards are not good if you have a certain type of logic game that frustrates you, as it's hard to browse all of the reasoning like you could in a book.

Furthermore, I had dozens of cards with misprints and errors, with the answer not matching the question. It's a frustration to be sure, and only serves to make one feel even less satisfied with a purchase of the most expensive LSAT tool in Kaplan's library.

Don't buy. There are better things for your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Improvement needed but still a useful tool!
Although there are some typos, duplicates and an error or two on the answer side of the card, these cards were are very helpful.

They cover all of the game types taught by Kaplan (sequencing, matching, grouping and hybrid) and issues like limited options and numbers. In addition, about 100 cards are dedicated to interpreting formal logic rules when they appear in the games section. However, they do not cover any of the rare game types (mapping, process, spatial, etc.)

Overall they helped me understand the rules quicker which allowed me to get though the games at the faster pace. This is a great way to study while on the go without having your nose in a book!

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS WASTE OF MONEY!
There are SOOO MANY WRONG ANSWERS, erroneous prints, and vague explanations!I am in the process of returning it.I have never been so disappointed at a test prep product.Don't waste your time! ... Read more

I bought these cards primarily because I have limited prep time, therefore I had no time to make my own cards! I say this, if you are running out of time and need more ways to "crunch" get these cards! Many are purely vocab, but some are short examples. See this as yet another means to drill stuff into your head! IF you have ample time I say save yourself some money and make your own cards based off the highlights from the logic reasoning bible! The info on these cards is straight out of that book, nothing new, just in a clean and concise format. You make the call...time or money...either way memorizing this info is well worth the effort!!! Why are you reading this shouldn't you be studying=)

I really like this study guide. At times it was a little bit difficult to read ( I recommend reading LSAT for dummies first), but really prepared me for the exam. The cd is great to use as well and has practice exam. Just a heads up, I thought the be able to use the cd at work, but you have to save the programs, probably a sign that I should have been focused at work anyway, lol. Overall, the book is great as a study guide. You will be more than prepared to take the LSAT. No need to pay for the LSAT prep course, this book has all you need and more.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice looking book, but no results on actual test
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this book as a way of improving your score on the LSAT. Despite the fact it gives a nice assortment of practice questions, where it lacks is in developing a strategy to pass the actual LSAT test. I studied over a 6 month period using this book, and did just about every question. My practice results rarely rose above more than 50% correct, minus reading comprehension which I did well, usually 75% correct. Overall, just not a good way to improve score or pass the test. My score the first time around on the LSAT was 137 using this book, not good. I am not sure if there is something else out there to improve scores, or if it is even possible to improve a score on a test of this nature, but I would not recommend this book to improve scoring. It is too shallow with strategy. I think the writers of the book expect that by repetition and practice, you can master the material, but it did not work for me. The book does offer some basic strategy but this did not help me too greatly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money
Has 3 practice testwhich is a great value, plus I wanted to practice more logical reasoning questions and was curious about the cd. I had a host of problems running it in vista but to be honest I have xp on my other computers so it was really no big deal. But I would just like to warn people that you will have issues in Vista and its not Mac compatible I gave the rating four stars because the application crashed under my Vista laptop midway through which pissed me off. I just finished the logical reasoning section which was helpful.

I would buy this to start studying and order more practice test to study. I feel they should of added more study questions on the logical review but otherwise a great tool to supplement other materials I recommend people do not use this as sole aid though.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its okay if you don't need much help
This book is okay if you're already relatively good with the concepts the LSAT has you do.The software has a couple bugs in it--only a couple.I found I needed a more comprehensive review and ended up going to a real class.

2-0 out of 5 stars Kaplan let me down
I have been a big fan of Kaplan over the years. I used there test materials when preparing for the ACT and AP exams and was able to score a perfect score on the ACT and get college credit for my AP courses. Fast forward a few years, and now I am preparing for law school. So, of course the first thing I turn to is Kaplan. This big is a huge dissapointment. I am an honors english major and was really expecting some help on the analytical and logic sections. However, each section begins with a couple of pages of tips and then some practice. This book does not have in-depth explanations that you would expect from Kaplan. What really tops it all off, is that i finished this book in one week! Now, how much information and testing preparation can really be in a book if it only takes a week to complete? And that includes working dilligently and not just going through the motions! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Is what it says, but lots of typos
Basically, this book is exactly what it appears to be: a compendium of LSAT logic games with detailed solutions and tips for better test taking. In that regard, the book is respectable.

However, I've found a lot of typos in the games themselves. For example, Question 2 of Timed Section 2 (p. 216) has 2 correct answers (C and E).There should only be one.Even the book's explanation of the solution (p. 222) shows that both answers should be correct. In general, typos would not be enough to knock 3 stars off a rating, but when they appear in the practice version of a potentially life-altering standardized test, they cause one to lose confidence and question one's sanity. These are NOT states of mind one wants immediately before taking the LSAT!

This is one of the few books on the market focused exclusively on LSAT logic games, so it still makes worthwhile practice. My advice to those practicing with this book would be to take incongruous answers with a grain of salt, move on the next question, and verify your sanity later. Hopefully the next edition of the book will much more carefully proof-read.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good problem solving techniques; needs proofing
I bought this book because I was impressed with the diagramming used in "Cracking..." and needed more practice.

Pros: 1.Excellent solution methodology in general, which has helped me improve my time.

Cons: 1.No one has proofread the book. Minor mistakes in either the question or the solution on nearly every question set lead to question with two correct answers, or no correct answers. I need to know that when I see a mistake with a problem it's because I've made a mistake that needs to be corrected, not the other way around. It's frustrating to find errors on every other page.
    2. Training is lacking in some areas, and I really think an intern writer just phoned it in on this one. I noted in particular that many of the "2d" games, where I need the most work are not in fact 2d at all. Also, many "distribution" games do not fall into that category.
    3. As another user noted, it appears that they copied real test questions. This makes it difficult to time myself on real tests now, because it doesn't matter whether a supply truck brings rice and beans or a storm brings hail and rain - having worked the problem once in the book I am immediately able to do it again with different variables when I see it on the official tests.

1-0 out of 5 stars Princeton Review's LSAT Logic Games Workout DOES contain real LSAT Questions - in disguise
I've written a more detailed review of this book on my LSAT blog. However, I just wanted to briefly note that this book contains a MAJOR problem aside from the typos.

The vast majority of test-takers who use this book believe it does not contain real LSAT logic games.

One previous reviewer wrote: "This book does give good practice games when you don't want to waste real LSAT logic game sections. The games are really similar to real LSAT games."

Another wrote: "it might seem at first like a bad thing that the problems are not real LSAT problems, but it wasn't for me. they are very much of the same type and it offers extra practice"

The truth is that it DOES contain several real LSAT logic games.

    Evidence:

In my review of this book on my LSAT blog (the blog post is titled "Princeton Review LSAT Logic Games Workout - Exposed"), I list 8 Logic Games included in this book and match them with 8 real, and recent, LSAT Logic Games (from actual LSAT PrepTests). (I picked these 8 particular Logic Games simply because they're the ones you can see online through Google Books - this way, the interested among you can compare for yourselves.)

The Princeton Review fake games and the LSAC real games are virtually identical. The topics and variables are changed, and some other unimportant things are switched around, but the rules and inferences are the same, as are most of the questions.

    Conclusion (why this matters):

By using this book, you'll unintentionally expose yourself to real, and recent, LSAT logic games before you take timed practice exams. Later, when you take those timed practice exams to determine whether you're ready to take the LSAT, you'll have inflated practice scores. Why? Because you will have seen many of those Logic Games before - in this book. You won't have a realistic sense of where you stand. When you take the actual LSAT, you may score much lower than you did on those inflated practice exams.

Given that law schools see all scores on your score report, you only want to take the LSAT when you know that you're absolutely ready. This book can make you think you're ready when you're not.

    Bottom line:

I would not recommend using this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars best choice for me, although it had issues
the main issue with this book is that it had a lot of typos and errors, so that when i got a wrong answer, sometimes i couldn't be sure if it was me or the book, and it messed up my timing too. however, i looked at a lot of reviews, and it seems almost all books have errors, so considering the choices, this book was the best one for me. if you are like me, then you probably want to choose this book. i am the type of person that gets more confused than helped by memorizing all the different types of games beyond just the basics, which is why i didn't order powerscore, because people described being all confused by the details. I did feel that the setups for the games in princeton review were a bit more helpful and prescriptive than the more general ones in kaplan's. also, it might seem at first like a bad thing that the problems are not real LSAT problems, but it wasn't for me. they are very much of the same type and it offers extra practice if this is a section you struggle on (i did). DEFINITELY order official LSAT tests from LSAC. I actually found it a plus that the problems weren't real LSAT problems, because you won't find overlap when you do official tests, which could screw up an accurate measure of your score. if you have trouble figuring out why an answer is correct on your own, then that will be a minus for this book, because since there are a lot of errors, the explanations can be confusing or just plain wrong too. for me, it was mostly a matter of getting extra practice and finding a fast way to set up a game. i can usually figure out why my own answer is wrong when given the correct one, so i didn't need explanations as much. besides, figuring out why my answer was wrong was probably more useful, because it forced me to think for myself. for my own study regimen, i bought this book, all 30 of the official lsat tests published by the lsac (they are in sets of 10 and they have no explanations for answers, only the correct answers), a regular kaplan lsat book (good for general tips for all the sections), and the kaplan lsat logic games workbook (which I haven't used yet, because i got it just in case there were problems on there that weren't in the official tests. probably a waste of money.) after using this book, i would say my accuracy was up, but i was still only hitting 2 or 3 games, so my timing is still off.

1-0 out of 5 stars Five amazon reviewers - Ahab, Betunia, Chloris, Delmar, and Egghead -have reached exactly one conclusion: DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!
Seriously, DO NOT buy this book. Like the other reviewers have said, it's full of errors. Little errors, but they make a HUGE difference when you're trying to time yourself on practice tests. It ruins your entire practice session if you have to flip to the answer section to figure out what the book's authors MEANT to write.

As a test-taker, you really need to have full faith in the logic of the test-maker. When you're taking a test, you need to be certain that any confusion is an issue YOU need to work on -- NOT something the book's editors did wrong!! I've found so many errors on these tests, I have no faith in the book anymore. It's just stressful to try to use it, especially if I'm trying to time myself.

There are some useful tips in the beginning of the book, but I'm sure you can find other LSAT books with useful tips. It's just not worth buying this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars LOTS OF PRACTICE
I purchased this book with the idea that it would act as a supplement for the Logical Reasoning Bible which does not really have too many questions to practice on. The one issue I had though is that there are no explanations for the answers. There are lots of problems though for each section and it is nicely organized so it follows the types of problems you will encounter (i.e. Must Be True, Parallel Reasoning, etc.) Overall it is definitely worth the buy if you just want to get more practice and can reason the correct answers on your own. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Overall Comprehensive LSAT Logical Reasoning Prep Book on the Market!
At the onset of my quest to find the best LSAT study books that are available, I purchased books from Powerscore, Kaplan, Princeton, Examkrackers, McGraw-Hill, and NOVA Press but it is the Atlas LSAT Study Guides that I settled on to ensure I obtained the highest LSAT score possible.I purchased all three (3) Atlas LSAT Strategy Guides (i.e., Logical Reasoning, Logical Games and Reading Comprehension) and I also purchased two (2) Atlas LSAT Practice Books, which both contain only official LSATs.The Atlas practice books compliment the entire Atlas Self Study Plan, which offers FREE online access to their LSAT Forum, plus one (1) hour of FREE private tutoring.I could not believe how much FREE stuff you get with the purchase of the Atlas guides not to mention they have awesome customer service.Anyway, the logical reasoning book, as well as, the other Atlas books is comprehensive but very easy to read. The Atlas approach is not overly complicated like the other LSAT books that are currently out there in the market and I know this for sure because I have bought so many LSAT books. As a result of my LSAT preparation with the Atlas Study Guides, I now think like a "debater," which is far more practical than trying to memorize a company's patented marketing LSAT study technique, which I found to be confusing and convoluted. If you are independently studying for the LSAT, I highly recommend the entire Atlas Self Study method. Each book can stand on its' in content but when used together they offer a well rounded pragmatic approach for dominating the LSAT.Don't waste precious time or money like me searching for the perfect set of LSAT books, start with Atlas LSAT Strategy Guides and your search will be over before it starts!

5-0 out of 5 stars a worthy guide to LSAT exam prep
I bought their entire set of books through their website.

The curriculum they have created carries good tips and strategies. However, I agree with their philosophy of not relying on gimmicks, but mainly on making sure you do the right exercises to improve your score.

If you are self-studying (which I did), then you will especially enjoy the detailed syllabus they provide for self-studying. It helps you be on track and on schedule, and know when to say when something was lacking or enough.

Especially for Logical Reasoning (which was my biggest problem), I started from finishing the entire section at about 40 minutes, and now down to about 32~33 minutes, and a couple minutes to spare to quickly go through everything.

And, probably the best thing, AtlasLSAT has a student forum section which you can post your questions on just about any question that you do any LSAT prep test, and they will provide you an explanation. You don't have to be paying thousands of dollars to get access to that so definitely worth your buck.

There is a free sample of this set of books on their website, so I used the downloads to see if the books would be nice to use. The examples had to be cut out so it was a bit difficult to read, but that's where it tipped me to purchase the books. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for LSAT-takers
In my opinion this book, along with the PowerScore Deconstructed book for the Dec. 2006 LSAT, is a must, especially if you've gone through all three PowerScore Bibles. Everything you learn from the Bibles is applied in the Deconstructed series. Great explanations are provided to give you an understanding of what to look out for in wrong and right answer. Some of the hardest/somewhat controversial Logical Reasoning questions are found in these PTs, so it provides very lengthy explanations that are extremely helpful. I doubt you can find any other resource that gives as clear and detailed explanations for those questions as this book can. Also, if you buy this book (this is completely up to you), there is no need to purchase the individual 2004 PTs that are covered here because each PT is provided before the explanations.

The only annoyance is that are a few typos here and there. For example in the explanations, it will say the correct answer is B (when it is actually E), but in the following explanations it will list E as the correct answer. If you have trouble telling which really is the correct answer, then maybe it is a good idea to buy the individual PTs to get the answer key. But you can probably easily get the answers somewhere else. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Kaplan LSAT 2011 - Waste of Time and Money
Kaplan's LSAT books tend to change little from year-to-year, so I'm posting my review of their 2010 book of the same name below (on the assumption that it has most/all of the same problems):

I've written a more detailed review of this book on my LSAT blog, but I briefly wanted to note a few things here:

This book consists of generic advice and 3 Kaplan-written, not LSAC-written, practice tests and explanations (despite the fact that the book's table of contents claims that these are "Real LSAT Practice Tests and Explanations").

One of the biggest problems, however, is that Kaplan reuses much of the advice in this book in its GMAT and GRE books as well. I searched Google Books with several phrases from this book and found search results in over a dozen Kaplan GMAT and GRE books, not just in older editions of its LSAT books, which would be more excusable. Even one of the sample LSAT questions (referred to as a "genuine Logical Reasoning item") has appeared in GMAT and GRE books (it's about a product called SlimDown). This question has probably never appeared on any of these exams.

Another problem with the book - Logic Games included in the beginning (learning) portion of the book, are re-used in the practice tests at the end of the book. It would likely corrupt your practice test scores to have seen the questions before.

Furthermore, many of the practice Logic Games don't even fit to one page. You actually have to flip the page over multiple times if you want to refer to your previous diagrams. Why didn't they make it realistic?

Do not buy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Helpful if you use it
I bought this book, 10 Actual LSATs, and the Kaplan guide. I decided to take the LSAT in mid-April and plan to take the test in June. I used the Kaplan book first, and I didn't see much improvement. This book, however, seemed to click with me to the tune of an improvement of 20 points. I'm now above the 90th percentile after using this book for about 1.5 weeks. This book's explanations were much more helpful for me in figuring out why I was missing questions than Kaplan's. But, be prepared to put in some time studying with this book. I've been putting in a couple of hours every night on getting ready for the test, and it seems to have paid off.

4-0 out of 5 stars Like the product, not the service
I really like the book itself, it contaims hundreds of useful tips, it's great to have this item as one of your exam prep books. However, thank God, my test is in June and I ordered it Feb 6th, since I received it almost a whole month later - March 1st!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Book
Save your money, get powerscore. My score went down on actual LSAT prep tests. Their made up tests are constructed poorly and cause you question your approach which may be more effective and their explanations fail to make sense. I think they may make the book outlandish and frustrating to help encourage individuals to buy their courses.................conspiracy, but not too far fetched.

5-0 out of 5 stars Any library catering to LSAT students needs this
The 2010 edition of Cracking the LSAT is a pick for any student practicing for the exam, offering pages packed with 'how to succeed' insights, sample questions and drills, a detailed chapter about logic games, reviews of strategies and more. 4-0 out of 5 stars A good prep package
As long as you're okay with Ritz crackers instructing you on the semantics of the LSAT, you'll be ace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked for me!
On my first practice test, I scored a 150, and after using the Exam Krackers study program, I scored a 166 on my actual LSAT - first time taking it.I went onto the Exam Krackers website and followed their Quick Prep home study program. The program covers over 800 questions and requires The Next 10 Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests book.I did every one of those problems, as well as a few extra when I was struggling with one skill or another.Overall I think this is a great prep set, but be aware that it does not have a lot of practice questions. However, if you are dedicated, and spend the time reading and them practicing the techniques on past tests, you will do well.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best LSAT prep I've seen
I have checked out many LSAT prep books packages.I like this one the best.If you go to the ExamKrackers website the have 3 choices of study plans depending on how much time you have to study.I have read the first couple of chapters in each book I find them very easy to read not too complex and get to the point instead of putting in all these complicated explanations. I give it a thumbs up.One more thing if you get the complete study package you do not have to pay to use their online study planlike some other companies do.I have the flexibility of studying when I can ....I am a working professional working 3-4 12 hr shifts each week so I have the flexibility that I need.ExamKrackers LSAT Complete Study Package

4-0 out of 5 stars lynch at his creepiest
At first, I had my reservations about buying an LSAT book written by David Lynch.Lynch, who studied painting in college and went to film school thereafter, has no qualifications to offer prospective law students stategies for taking the LSAT.Moreover, works like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and the psychological thriller Lost Highway seem like products of a mind disinterested in the nuances of the American legal system. In many of Lynch's films, the subjective experiences of the characters become the focus of the narrative, and greater social and legal concerns fade into the background.Even figures who ostensibly represent the Law succumb to mystic, extralegal forces.FBI Agent Cooper, central character of the show Twin Peaks, conducts his investigation of the death of Laura Palmer by conversing with giants, consulting with owls, and taking the advice of a woman who speaks to a log.Where would America be today if citizens sought legal advice from logs? But alas, Lynch never claimed to be an expert on law.Rather, his book focuses on the LSAT, and it is this test's flagrant flouting of jurisprudence that makes Lynch the perfect authority on the subject.Example: Three women, two men, and a midget convene around a hexagonal table for afternoon tea.Two of the women are sitting next to each other, and each woman is wearing a yellow corsage. The men are across from each other - one wears a pince-nez and the other is covering his ears and screaming. The midget is wearing a stripped tuxedo, and the sixth chair is empty. All of the following are possible table arrangements EXCEPT.Before reading Lynch's book I could never answer this question. Now I dream the answer every night.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for serious LSAT study
I bought this after getting really frustrated with the kaplan book. This package has a couple of great features. It has complete books for all three sections, which means it's way more thorough than an all-in-one book. Some people like power score, but they have one glaring omission - no Reading Comp book! Not to mention that this package is cheaper than buying all the PS books.

Anyway, the best part about this is that it really makes a lot of sense and has tons of examples. I liked the timed quizzes on each topic. These books skip the gimmicky tricks that don't really work anyway and focus on pure understanding of how the test works. I think they really get it right. After buying this and some past official tests, my scores on practice tests improved by about 12 points. ... Read more
