4-0 out of 5 stars Useful practice
The book offers exactly what the title says - nothing more and nothing less. You get a test with answers, but there is no example for the writing sample. As for the magic tricks on how to approach some of the questions, you'd better do the work, use your common sense and hope for the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars College Prep Exam
I am preparing for the LSAT so this book came in really handy. I would recommend this prep to anyone studying for the exam.I would also recommend the Princeton Review. Very good study guides.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice and CURRENT!
if you are prep'n for LSAT and tight on cash...save your pennies to put toward the most recent lsat preptest's! I was able to purchase most tests from 28-58 and there is a big difference between older and more current tests, well at least in my opinion! I say if you are testing in 2010 you should really try to purchase 48 forward or at a min. purchase 55 forward. The more preptests youwork through the more familiar you get with LSAC's wording, format, and "tricks." NO there are no repeat questions but boy are there sure close copies!! They love to repeat certain subjects and certain argument structures...so well worth your time and money to review this stuff! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars More Grouped by Game Type is Better than Kaplan LSAT Mastery Practice
On my LSAT blog, I've recently written a more detailed review of this book. However, I just wanted to briefly note that this book is much better than the previous alternative, Kaplan LSAT Mastery Practice.

Grouped by Game Type contains every LSAT Logic Game from PrepTests 21-40, so it includes some Logic Games that are otherwise out-of-print and difficult to find in book form. It organizes Logic Games according to their various types, while the Kaplan Mastery book lumps together some games that are very unlike each other and just includes a random assortment of games.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool for mastering logic games.
I am a professional LSAT tutor, and I use this as a workbook for teaching my students the logic games. It is a no-nonsense compilation of all of the logic games from tests 21-40, clearly and intuitively organized. This book is a great tool for helping students to master the logic games - I teach them a strategy for diagramming and solving a certain type of game, and then they are able to apply that strategy several times over to reinforce their learning. Highly recommended. ... Read more

Product Description
The 3 1/2 hour LSAT exam is widely acknowledged to be the most demanding of all standardized tests. Considering how heavily it is weighed among law school admissions criteria, it is also arguably one of the most important. Before taking it, students must be thoroughly prepared for and familiar with the kinds of questions that will be asked. The official test-writers at the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) cover all of these essentials and more, in each of these two volumes of LSAT: The Official TriplePrep. Each volume features three real, recently administered LSAT exams, plus valuable test-taking advice on guessing, pacing oneself, and approaching complex reading comprehension and analytic questions. New to each of these updated editions are 50 sample writing topics that students can use to practice for the 30-minute writing exercise. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Extreme LSAT studying
This book is one of the LSAT materials no longer for sale new. It contains old LSATs (old, as in before December 1995). The value of these tests is limited; if you were to study only three previous LSATs it would be best to take three of the newest LSATs. If you're doing all the old LSATs available then this book is one of the materials you'll need.

It contains PrepTests 2, 4, & 5 which correspond to October 1991, December 1991, and February 1992, respectively. As near as I can tell, you cannot obtain these tests from any other LSAT book (but testing companies may have them available for their students).

If you use these tests, use them early on in your practice. Work towards the newer exams as the date approaches the LSAT. If you're taking all 50+ LSATs available, you'll want at least one day off per week. So figure a maximum of 6 tests per week along with time adequate to review all your wrong answers and questionable responses. Count backward from the test and you'll have your study plan.

5-0 out of 5 stars VITAL for LSAT preparation
Obtain as many copies of Official LSATs as you have time to take under testing conditions and to extensively then review and analyze your EVERY response, regardless of whether you answered with a correct or incorrect answer choice.Take the LSAT ONCE.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tests & More Tests...
I started studying for the LSAT using Princeton Review's "Crackingthe LSAT" which only contains two full length tests. One of thebenefits of purchasing this book is that you can continue to use thePrinceton Review's (or any other test prep)guidelines and pointers whiletesting your knowledge on these actual exams. I found re-testing myself tobe one of the most beneficial aspects of preparing for the LSAT. As theysay, practice makes perfect...

5-0 out of 5 stars ACTUAL EXAMS
The very best preparation for the LSAT is to practice on actual tests previously administered. The publications through LSAC, such as this one, provide actual exams and answers.

To anyone studying for the LSAT, Iwould give the following advice: don't fall prey to the fears about theLSAT. You could spend two thousand bucks or more taking courses and buyingprep materials. Instead, buy several different LSAT prep books that arereasonably priced. After practicing with them, buy real LSATs and practiceon them under timed conditions.

I read about four different prep booksthat cost less than $20 each. Then I worked through about eight or tenreal, recent LSATs under test conditions. I had been out of school for morethan two years and was happy with an LSAT score above the 90th percentile.Should you find yourself struggling with the prep books and real LSATs,perhaps a course or individual instruction is right for you. The LSAT scoreis critical, and if good enough you can land a scholarship from a top tierschool. Don't assume, however, that you must spend $1500 in preparationbecause "everyone else is doing it" and you are already behind.Law school will be demanding and require much study, so get used to it andput in the time requried to score well on the LSAT.

The triple prep andthe three or four most recent LSATs available are your best bet, once youunderstand how the test is structured and have practiced a few strategies(including DIAGRAMS).

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing is better than real LSATs!
This is the real deal.Previously administered LSATs.No explanations or guidance is provided, but this book is just tests.Regardless of what source you use for preparing to take the LSAT, practice testing is the key to scoring high. This book offers 3 real LSATs.Other volumes are alsoavailable that offer other test versions.Simple, but exactly what youneed. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars okay
I got the book in a timely manner; however, it was not quite what I was looking for.

Thanks

2-0 out of 5 stars For my use it works, but don't use to study.
Right now I'm using 4 different books to prep for my LSAT.I've got the LSAT Kaplin book, which is the one that I'm really using to study.I also have a copy of Kaplin's 180 book, however that is for use in the future.I own a copy of the 10 Prep Tests, that book is very stright forward in it's use.I also have this book put together by the people at Cliffnotes.I use this book for one purpose.I wanted a book that I could use just to use random test questions to solve.I'm going through the tests, but not under any test conditions. There are a handful of bad questions in this book, and as a serious study aid, it can't hold a candle to any of the other ones. But I suspose for my use, it's doing what I wanted.

1-0 out of 5 stars cliffs prep
Far too simple of an approach to the complex problems of mastering the questions presented by the LSAT.Sample and practice questions were far too misleading in their simplicity as compared to what the LSAT actually has.Sample tests do not even come close to what you will experience on the real exam.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unhelpful
There were a ton of errors and the made-up questions did not seem all that similar to the real LSAT questions. I would recommend Princeton Review for Arguements and Arco for games.

1-0 out of 5 stars far too many errors
I thought I was going crazy until I realized that this book is full of errors!More than I can count on two hands. If you're looking for a decent LSAT test prep, this is not it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LSAT Logic Games Bible Workbook
This book is extremely helpful.Unlike the books that combine each section in 500 pages, this one really articulates each type of question and allows for multiple practice examples.I would suggest this for anyone not taking a class or in need of supplemental information for the Logic Games section (also for the Logical Reasoning or Reading Comp).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Practice...Highly Recommend!!!!
I had previously bought the Logic Games Bible and worked through it cover to cover, yet found myself needing more repetition. The workbook allows for just that, logic game after logic game to hone skills introduced in the Games Bible and to build up your rhythm in attacking each game as well as confidence in facing them.I would almost say that this book is necessary if you're working with the Games Bible, but especially so if you find yourself, like me, needing some more time reinforcing concepts and gaining familiarity with how to go about working with these brain teasers.I recommend this very, very highly!

4-0 out of 5 stars Logic Games
Bought this for my son to study for the LSAT test.He was having difficulty with the Logic Games part of the test, he said it helped him figure out how to work the problems and hopefully do his best on the test.We will see, he just took it, results in about 3 weeks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great buy!
Thank you for selling me a great product for a great price! It is in perfect condition, thanks again for the deal!

5-0 out of 5 stars more practice
It provides more practice base on the skills from the logic game bible.
It's good to practice with it.
You don't have to worry about your memory ability while you're studying reasoning or reading part.
I just use this book from time to time when I study reasonning and reading.
Even if you learn the great skills to attact logic games, if you don't use it, You'll lose it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get the real thing
If you want to prepare to take the LSAT and get a good sense of your expected score and areas that need improvement, you can learn about the structure of the test in a clear, concise manner and practice with questions from real tests with LSAC publications such as "The Next 10 Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests" or "LSAT Logical Reasoming Bible."

If you want to learn about the structure of the test by having someone talk down to you for about 50 pages on paper and then waste your time with questions crafted through faulty logic, "Cracking the LSAT" by Princeton Review is for you.

This is the first time I've written a customer review for test prep material, but in this instance I feel it is necessary because over the past 6 years I've been - how to put this...IMPRESSIVELY DISAPPOINTED -with Princeton Review materials for the SAT, SAT Subject tests, the GRE, and now the LSAT. For each of these tests I've had the opportunity to compare sample questions with Kaplan prep material and previously administered tests, and in comparison the Princton Review materials are severely lacking. I've had too many experiences of reading barely sensible questions and answer explanations and spotting grammatical/arithmetic errors (maybe typos, maybe not) in PR prep materials to express any confidence in this and other PR publications. Save yourself some money and frustration and get some real tests from LSAC. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Immensely helpful
I was looking to improve my reading comprehension skills and this book helped a lot.
All the practice passages have detailed explanation about both right and wrong answers - which is very helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpfull - buy it
This is a very helpful book on Reading Section. One of the very few available ones on the market. I don't understand why there are so many books conserning LR and AR, and almost none conserning the reading. Reading was my most difficult section (as it is for many students- passages are long time is not enough, same problem..) and if there was more on the market about it I would have purchased it. Anyhow, this book is well written, explanatory, enough exercises.
The reason why I rate it with 4, not 5 stars is because it is not LSAT specific, but it also tells about MCAT, GMAT, etc. Which is important when it comes to the length of passages in the excercise section which takes up 130 out of 180 pages from the book. There are passages of different lengths from 30 to 80 lines, covering the formats of the passages given on GMAT, MCAT, etc. But what we need for LSAT - are passages of 55 - 60 lines so we can properly time ourselves and as we all know on the LSAT - TIME IS EVERYTHING.
In conclusion: helpful book - get it.
P.S. If the publishers get to see that - consider improving it.

4-0 out of 5 stars good book
I was preparing for GMAT and was very in Reading Comprehension. This book was helful to me especially the LSAT passages which were difficult compared to GMAT passages. explanations were good.

1-0 out of 5 stars Time-wasting if not skill-diminishing
I've read this book for LSAT prep. While the selection of passages is excellent, crafting of questions is simply a bad joke.To be precise, it is mostly the answer choices that makes this book time-wasting, if not skill-diminishing.The answer choices in this book are just not the kind of choices that appear in an actual test.Especially annoying is that many "right" answer choices can be right only after a very very long stretch of logic, which NEVER happens in a real test.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent study tool
This book helps the reader learn the correct way to annotate and outline the paragraphs on the reading comprehension section of the GRE*MCAT*LSAT*GMAT.It was very helpful. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A Mistake
I bought this book hoping it would help me for the LSAT, but I was disappointed. It is a little simplistic (although this could help a person get used to the games), but it's biggest flaw is the mistakes in the text. Throughout the exercises, there are msitakes. This drove me crazy when I was trying to solve the sample problems becasue I could never be sure if I just wasn't getting it, or if there was another mistake in the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars you are better off with out this for the LSAT
I don't know about the other tests but this book is useless for the LSAT.It is too easy and has too many mistakes!Simple things like replacing "could"with "must"in the answers mess up the whole outcome and this book makes those simple mistakes.I also understand the concept of choosing the lesser of the evils but this book takes it to the extreme!Answers for inference questions are things that really can't be implied any more than what they consider "wrong".The LSAT doesn't do that.So far i suggest getting the actual past tests and there are plenty of other prep book out there.I suppose you could use this book to boost you confidence, so i will give it stars for that.

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst logic prep book I ever had...
People should really avoid this book unless you have too much money, time and effort to waste.Aside from this book only provides limited strategies on cracking the logic questions, it has way way way too many bloodly obvious mistakes in it answer keys.It only does two things:confuses you--because you will never understand the inference process since the answers are wrong; or frustrates you--one MORE mistake is found!I eventually got so frustrated that I had to abandon using this book after getting through about 1/5 of the book.Strongly recommend avoiding using this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too Many Errors in Answer Key ...
I would avoid this book simply because the answer keys have too many errors, thus making it difficult to gauge your success on the test questions.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible and error-filled
I looked at this book while preparing for the LSAT.

It deals only with very easy questions and even includes errors in the answer key and explanations. The logical reasoning section is quite horrendous, only introuding questions of mild complexity.

I would look elsewhere for a preparation book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars LSAT wow!
LSATs are hard!!!!! This book was great to practice with. I wrote all over it and really feel that I have a greater understanding of what is expected of me. There is only one full test in this booklet and for me, it is much better than having 10 or more practice tests in one book. I really liked this format and this booklet and I look forward to getting another and another to practice with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for.....
In my studies for the LSAT, I found these great prep-tests - they are real former LSAT tests (without the experimental section). They helped in my preparation for the real thing. Now I'm just waiting to get my score! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars anything but kaplan
i actually took the kaplan course and got 4 books (which are in this comprehensive program book) with the $2000 course at kaplan. after learning at kaplan, my score went up 5-7 points. it was not high enough for me to get into law school.

eventually i bought other books and took time off work for a month, and studied for 6-10 hours a day (with breaks in between). from that i gained another 7-10 points.

kaplan does help teach you the basics, but i feel like i could have learned that on my own from the books recommended at amazon. i love amazon for having the books i needed in stock, and allowing people to put comments (from which i found the books i could use to raise my score).

thanks amazon!

2-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Sloppy
Although doing the practice questions here can't hurt, the careless formatting and typos that plague this book have motivated me to post one of my first reviews: the formatting is terrible (questions with answers printed on the opposite page), duplicate questions that throw off any sense of what an actual LSAT score might be, and terrible typos.

Seems like Kaplan is trading on their reputation rather than taking the time to edit & prepare a decent book.

1-0 out of 5 stars LSAT 101
I started out studying for the LSAT with this Kaplan "Comprehensive" program. BIG MISTAKE. Do not buy this book if you are serious about scoring high on the LSAT. This book literally teaches you absolutely nothing about the test. There is no discussion about the general problem types, answer types, formal logic, strategies, time management techniques, guessing techniques, etc. And, to top it off...their "Practice Tests" are made up. They do not license actual tests from LSAC. Thus, after I finished this book I felt confident. However, once I took a previously administered practice test - the real thing - I was completely unprepared!

My suggestion, which is what I did, is get books focused specifically on the Logical Reasoning section, and the Logic Games section; go with the PowerScore Bible books. They are by far the best, the most thorough, and recommended by everyone. They improved my score big time. They are about $50 bucks a piece (compared to $20 Kaplan) because their examples and practice questions are licensed from the law council... so they actually came from previously administered tests. Worth the money. Using Kaplan I was scoring around 145-148 (not good). After finishing PowerScore's books I jumped my score to 155.

DO NOT BUY KAPLAN!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Eeh.
This prep book is okay, but nothing spectacular.I personally didn't find the "methods" all that helpful. The things they mentioned were either pretty obvious or something I didn't findhelpful (I guess that could just mean I'm stubborn.) Not a bad buy if you're looking for some practice questions and tests though!I used this and the 10 prep tests book released by the LSAC and found my scores to be comparable in the two.

3-0 out of 5 stars Just okay...
Not really that satisfied with the material inside the book, but the book was nice. I would not recommend this. Get the "Bible" books from Powerscore. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great study guide with humor
Great information, helpful hints, and humor highlight this book.I would definitely recommend this to anyone studying for the LSAT.Professor Dave explains how to handle all types of questions and then gives plenty of practice.Studying for the LSAT gets monotonous but this book keeps it interesting.

1-0 out of 5 stars To Your Disadvantage With Professor Dave
I purchased this book because of its good reviews. I review now why those reviews are not at all accurate. What then is accurate? Relaxed approach. Proverbs on learning. What is problematic is that the book does not actually deliver on its title! Why are you buying it, after all? The lesson plans offer no concrete strategies that commonsense could not have dictated. I find the advice proffered, while not unhelpful, to be nothing illuminating. The Logic Games section is sadly lacking in efficient methodology, in both diagramming and approach. As well, the answer explanations are at times unsatisfactory, and do keep in mind the practice questions, like the included 3 full-length exams, are not actually from the LSAT. The accompanying audio track is worthless to any rational, thinking being. Compared to other prep texts, this books should be ashamed. Save your money and buy more worthwhile things. Like recycled paper.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not much of an "advantage"
The book is nicely laid out but the questions are not, I repeat, are NOT from the LSAT. To get the best preparation possible, get the real questions and drill. In fact, some of the questions in "The LSAT Advantage" leave room for multiple answers.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book will raise your score
If you've read my other reviews, you'll see that I've dissected and used nearly every test preparation book on the market. Though relatively new, LSAT Advantage has quickly moved to the front of the pack as the best LSAT book available.

The problems in LSAT Advantage are accurate and thoughtful, and the explanations strike the perfect balance between traditional, formal methods and state-of-the-art tricks specific to conquering the LSAT. The CD-ROM not only contains practice exams, but also tips and tricks which reinforce the material presented in the book. We use this book in our Gorilla Test Prep LSAT course, and students and instructors alike have found it to excel in every way.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST LSAT REVIEW BOOK!!!
This is by far the best LSAT Preparation book! I found it not only extremely helpful, but also motivating. I found myself gain confidence by going over all of the material in the book and found the material to be similar to what you encounter on the actual test. The preview test, practice sets, exercises and the full-length practice sets were excellent along with the detailed strategies for each section. You see yourself doing better with more practice. The logical reasoning sections in the book are broken down well by topics allowing you to work separately on main question types. You are able to identify the questions and get through the section faster. The reading comprehension section of the book teaches you how to pace yourself, as well as, encourages you on how to read the passages so that on the day of the test your are able to finish all four passages along with the questions. As for the analytical reasoning section of the book, it is divided into three areas giving you strategies on how to tackle the different types of problems. I found the analytical reasoning section to be very clear and concise, and in fact it is the section I scored the highest in on the LSAT. The CD also was helpful with various tips. I would highly encourage anyone preparing for the LSAT to use this book for review as it is an excellent guide to getting a higher score. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great basic intro to LSAT, but not sufficient
I'll soon post a review of this book on my LSAT blog, but here are my preliminary thoughts on the Handbook:

Despite the come-on subtitle ("Get to know the LSAT"...in bed), this book is worth getting if you have trouble with Comparative Reading passages..

Previously, the best source of info about how LSAC views the exam was the introduction to The Official LSAT SuperPrep and the explanations for the 3 PrepTests contained within it.

The Official LSAT Handbook is a minor expansion on SuperPrep's detailed introduction. It might not be the most exciting piece of writing you've ever read, but there's a great deal of value in a breakdown of the LSAT from the test-makers themselves.

I highly recommend that you read the relevant part of the Handbook or SuperPrep before drilling particular types of questions in your books of PrepTests.

The most important new content is the discussion of the (relatively-new) Comparative Reading passages, which were added to the exam in June 2007.

The end of the book, the appendix, is where you'll find the bulk of the other new material - the stuff not contained in SuperPrep. There's a detailed approach to diagramming Logic Games.

While this stuff won't be earth-shattering for people who read my blog and use the books I recommend on the blog, it'll serve as a good basic introduction. However, it's certainly not enough - one should also work through several dozen LSAT PrepTests, both timed and untimed, and get more detailed strategies for the various sections of the exam.

***

Since it wasn't included above in the product description, here's how LSAC describes the book:

The LSAT is a test of analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, and reading comprehension, including comparative reading.

What's the best way to learn how to approach these types of questions before you encounter them on the day of the test?

There's no better way than The Official LSAT Handbook, published by the Law School Admission Council. Use this inexpensive guide to become familiar with every type of LSAT question so that you can make the most of the rest of your test preparation and do your best on the test.

Note: this handbook contains information that is also included in The Official LSAT SuperPrep. The information in The Official LSAT Handbook has been expanded and updated.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Quite good, but not perfect
LSAC is always really good about producing some excellent material (i.e., 10 Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests, 10 More Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests (Lsat Series), The Next 10 Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests (Lsat Series), and The Official LSAT SuperPrep). We should expect nothing less of the official makers/producers of LSAT.

While the contents of this book are excellent, buyer should note that for about $6 more, the buyer could purchase The Official LSAT SuperPrep ("SuperPrep"), which basically offers word-for-word the same information as this book "new" book - The Official LSAT Handbook.

This "new" book is a carbon copy of the first portion of the SuperPrep book. The only differences are:

1) The SuperPrep book provides three real LSAT from the past (Feb 1996, 1999, and 2000) with explanations. This "new" books does not give you any full-length tests.

2) This "new" book - The Official LSAT Handbook - does provide some form of exercise. It has an appendix section (not found in the SuperPrep book) with helpful diagramming techniques (for analytical reasoning), real logical reasoning questions, and several comparative reading passages. But again, no full-lengths tests.

This "new" book is handy and portable. But if you're a cost conscious person trying to find the most cost-effective way to study for the LSAT, then don't purchase this book - buy the SuperPrep book instead.

We still give the book 4-stars, however, because the content of the book is excellent. The techniques and information in the book (though readily available from the SuperPrep book) are quite good. For those not planning on taking any LSAT prep classes or tutoring, consider reading over the Analytical Reasoning (Games) and Logical Reasoning techniques from this book (or SuperPrep book).

So why not 5-stars? We think the reading comprehension section of this book is uneventful and unhelpful. It is really difficult to find genuinely good and effective advice on Reading Comprehension. This "new" book basically regurgitates what you probably already know (and what many mass-marketing test prep companies espouse).

In our mind, 5-stars are reserved for books that are absolutely essential and close to perfect for LSAT preparation. ... Read more
