4-0 out of 5 stars AP United States History (REA) 7th Edition
I just got this book couple days ago. I have yet to read anything out of it, but I can tell you it has a lot information. Especially, timeline of important dates before each chapter, for the APUSH Test. It also has 6 Full-length Practice tests. This book actually looks fun to read compared to other "Long, Small Print, and Boring" books. Basically, this book is "short and sweet" and must have if you want to get a 5 on the AP Test.

5-0 out of 5 stars You just can't go wrong!
I'm not going to mince words. The most important factor to doing well on the AP US History test is fact recall. That is, cram as much information into your head as you can so you can go back and regurgitate it when you take the exam. This book is incredibly detailed, but there's no "useless" information. The more of it that sticks in your head the better that you'll do on the exam (and believe me, there's so much in here that you'll remember SOMETHING). The questions are a level harder than they are on the real deal but that's how you should be preparing anyway. If you buy it to use during the school year as a supplement to your textbook, you'll definitely get the most out of it. However, even if you buy it like 2 weeks before the test (like what I did) it will still do a great job in helping you prepare. My only "complaint" with the book is that I should have bought it earlier.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW~ brilliant text!
I used this text and Barron's flash cards and had an easy time on the AP - and ended up getting a 5!

It seems thick, but it is very readable and the practice tests in the end also give long explanations to each of the answers.Definitely a good smart buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars God sent
Ap history was a god sent to my son. It has really helped him understand his ap history class. I know he's going to ACE that exam

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book
This book is awesome. I didn't open my textbook once and just studied with this for the test and I got a 5. Seriously, If you get the Princeton Review, it's missing so many details. Buy this book! It's also great for when your textbook in class gets really boring. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cracking the AP Chemistry Exam, 2009 Edition
Great book if you need to prepare for an AP exam.Highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ordered for my son...
and it arrived in good condition, and though he is still struggling (probably because of bad study habits on his part), he has found the book to be extremely helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars I've always trusted princeton review
My bookshelf is full of princeton review books haha. This one did not fail me. Though you probably won't get a 5 from slacking off all year and hoping to cram this book, it's definitely a great review book that will outline for you what you need to study for.

It's helpful to read the book's content and use it as a guide to know where to study, but it's necessary to use supplementary notes taken from class.
I didn't take any of the practice tests in the back but judging from the end-of-the-chapter quizzes, the MC questions given were NOTHING like the real exam's.

Princeton's MCs are way too simple. The real exam had a lot of diagrams that I honestly wasn't ready for.

Overall this book was extremely helpful. I can remember slight instances where the book had motivational phrases lol.

By the way I received a 5 on the exam and 800 on the SAT II. Can't complain with those results ahah.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book Overall
The practice tests were of realistic difficulty and the book was very good at explaining concepts that I had never learned or may have forgotten.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
The Princeton Review is concise, straightforward, and teaches test-taking strategies in addition to the chemistry. I was stuck in a bad AP class, used the book and got a 4. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Tests are good but reviews arent
i used this book along wiht the 5 steps one, and thank god i did. maria litvin's prep book is not at all a good book to use if you havent picked up much during the school year and need help quick for the ap test. the best thing about this book is the practice tests. they're actually harder than the real one in may, but it makes sure taht you are thoroughly prepared. i know a lot of people use that same justification for the barron's practice tests, but i found that the barron's ap comp sci practice tests were too hard to an unlikely extreme. litvin's challenges you, barron's just tortures you. the lessons and review in this book were rather disappointing. it didnt teach you a whole lot. i used 5 steps to actually learn the material. i would highly recommned this book to those you know their stuff and just want to prep. and to those you are completely lost in the subject, use 5 steps or some other material to reivew the information and then this book for last minute prepreations.

oh and also, the links they give you are really great for studying frq.

3-0 out of 5 stars a little bit too easy
maria litvin - i'd recommend it to anyone who never learned java b4. this book definitely stresses over concept, but the problems are not enough and much easier than the test i took in may. as a result, i'd recommend u to buy this book, but a harder book to go along with it like ds-marketing or barron's.
princeton - this book is pretty alright. it has good information, but i don't think it's enough. the way the author writes is understandable, but again, problems are not enough. sometimes there are only 4 problems per chapter. also, the practice test at the end of the chapter are not enough. there's only 1 set for A and 1 set for AB.
barron's - this book places emphasis on the problems. for example, in marine biology, there's at least 40 problems. don't buy this if u get bored easily because reading this book is like reading college textbooks. however, i can guarantee u that this book will raise ur score much quicker than any other book. however, this book is MUCH MUCH MUCH harder than the actual exam. i'd say that if u get a raw score of 50/80 on the practice test, u can probably get a 5.
5 steps - i borrowed this book from a friend about a week before the test. i feel like this book is almost exactly like the test. it has every type of problem, and gives excellent short summaries at the end of each chapter. it's quite understandable.
b4 taking compsci ap, i did 5 books: maria litvin, barron, princeton, 5 steps to a 5, and ds-marketing. i'd say that if u have a pretty decent teacher, u'll probably only need 5 steps or barron's. otherwise, i'd recommend at least 2 of the books above. however, remember that ds-marketing DOES NOT have marine biology (which makes up about 20% of the exam)

5-0 out of 5 stars A boon to AP Java students
This is a great book. I feel that I owe them for making this book. The authors do a great job in simply summarizing the concepts covered on the AP test, and providing great examples - the free response questions were right on the money! Highly suggested.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Review Manual for the AP Comp Sci Exam in Java
Maria Litvin has done an extraordinary job of putting together the new "Be Prepared for the AP Computer Science Exam in Java".This review manual, which has enough detail to double as a text book, has everything students need to focus on prior to taking the exam.It addresses everything in the ETS Java subset that students should have studied during the school year and has outstanding multiple choice and free response practice exam questions. The tests even include questions about the Java Marine Biology Simulation program which students need to know for the exam. Her web site also includes the 2003 C++ free response questions, which have been translated into Java.If you are searching for a great review manual with great practice questions, this is it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Definetly Better then Barron's Guide for Review
The Barron's giude is very nice, but it basically reteaches evrything for the student, which is only good if you have the typicall AP Computer Science teacher, like the ones in the Reviews :My teacher was horribale, she doesn't know anything about Java/C++/Pascal.She only knew about some other language and never assigned homework and was just horrible. If that is your teacher then get barron's, but if your school is respectable enough to actually try to get a good Computer Science teacher then get this book, it actually reviews.Another plus over barron's, this book actually has tips and an introduction to the test, Barron's only has 3 pages compared to a chapter with Litvin's guide on this subject. ... Amazon Market place is great.Quick shipping! Book arrived in a week. Amazing price, the new version 3rd edition in Barns & Noble is priced at $29.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reinforcement
This book is an excellent resource to reinforce the classroom teaching. My kids often refer to this book when they have a question or as they prepare for their regular exams, as well as in preparing for the AP Exams in May.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good review of APHG
This book was a good length and explained concepts concisely. Some of the information was unnecessary for the exam, like the different kinds of map projections, but the book did a good job of emulating the actual exam. It was better overall than other review books.

3-0 out of 5 stars A book you need if your teacher isn't a good one!
This book really helped me do well in the class and helped me pass the AP test. The reason why i only gave it 3 stars was because my friend had th kaplan 2009 one and it was alot more descriptive like it had a number 5 scored essay it was also alot bigger. Though the thing is I got a 4 while my friend who bought the kaplan got a 3 and she had a better overall average in this AP class than I did. So get this to pass and understand better but if you need major help in this subject spend a little more and buy the kaplan.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST GUIDE OUT THERE

If you're going to take the exam (or even if you aren't but are taking the class) I recommend that you get a copy of this book! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't Get This Unless You've Got Lots of Time on Your Hands
I'm going to take the AP Spanish Language Test tomorrow, and I do not feel very well prepared.Granted, there are other factors besides this book as to why I feel this way, but this book certainly did not help.I was attracted to this book because it had 4 CDs.A very dumb reason in retrospect.I should have read reviews before buying.Sigh...

I just took one of the practice exams the other day and got all except for a few of the multiple choice problems wrong. In my class, though I'm not earning perfect scores, of course, I can usually get the majority of the questions right.I am fairly certain that this book is meant to make the test seem harder than it actually is.And, on top of that, there are no answer explanations after the exams. There are explanations in the practice sections, so why wouldn't there be any for the test?

In one part of the book, it says that it is not good to learn vocabulary by memorizing a bunch of lists, but that's exactly what the book has for the speaking portion.Tons and tons of lists. There are portions where you can use the words in context, but still, it just seems so excessive.Books like this should supplement a course, not try to teach you every word in the whole language.

Now, it is my own fault for not being prepared.I certainly could have used my resources better. This book just was not helpful, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
This book has definitely helped me with my AP test. With this book, i am more confident and i know that i will do well on the AP test.It has helped me with my worst topic on the AP test, the essay. It was very helpful and i don't know what i would of done without the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars This book is frustrating...
I was just reading the previous review, and he is right. This book is just frustrating and demoralizing. First of all, the reading section in this book is nothing like it on the real AP test; the real AP test reading selections are actually quite easier. The listening selections were somewhat helpful for the AP test... the actual clips were probably just as hard to understand as these were. Other than that, this book was of no help for me for the AP test. Because of this, I thought I would earn a 3, when in fact I earned a 5. I would highly recommend the NEWEST VERSION of AP Spanish: Preparing for the Language Examination by Jose Diaz if you want a great grade on the exam. The test was very, very similar to the activities in this book, maybe because Jose Diaz is a table leader at the AP Spanish readings. If you purchase Diaz's workbook, make sure to buy the audio CDs and answer key seperately if your teacher does not use it as a supplement in class like mine did.

1-0 out of 5 stars Spanish Teachers, don't bother if you have a previous version
One star!Let me explain. This book does have a lot of practice activities but the 2008 is quite misleading. There is very little that is new here.Barron's has the vocabulary lists, same listening practice, same reading practice as it has had since at least 1996.I guess coming up with new material cuts into the profits.Very little here will help with the new test formats. The paragraph grammar fill in with root word is recycled from a previous edition and doesn't allow the use of perfect and progressive tenses even though the AP exam does. The conversation speaking section is really messed up since their dialogs are impossible to interact with unless you have listened to the dialog previously which you cannot do on the AP test. For example, one between the student and a college guide has instructions for the student to indicate where to go first on the tour, then the guide answers "oh, I see that you've heard a lot about the science program."These conversation dialogs were not written according to the new guidelines and are the same ones that Barron's used in their messed up, rushed 2007 version. Also, the reading sections are not from authentic sources even though the college board is now using authentic sources.Overall, this book is harder than the actual AP test (buy a released version from 1998 or 2003 and you'll know what I mean) which one would think is a good thing but it is not. They are more difficult (especially the reading) because Barron's has gone out of its way to use extremely obscure vocabulary.Unless you have a great chance at a five you will be extremely frustrated by this book.

I suppose for students studying on their own this book would be ok although it doesn't matter really, unless you are pretty close to fluent or have had extensive traditional instruction in the language you'll fail anyway or if your lucky get a three which is good for nothing. However, language teachers don't buy this book if you have any previous Barron's edition. These greedy money suckers come up with ten new pages and call it a new version except in this case the 2007 version and the 2007-2008 version are almost exactly identical.

It's too bad there isn't an AP practice book filled with practice activities and with no explanation about the test, no vocabulary lists, no wasted pages - just practice.100 dialogs, 100 reading selections, etc.Now that would be a real practice book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Practice Exams
The practice tests don't mimick the actual AP exam. After looking at some questions on their practice test, I had to turn back and look at the cover of the book--I thought that I was looking at some sort of pre-calculus book.

For example, one multiple-choice question (on the practice exam) asks you to complete the double-angle formula for sine(2x).How ridiculous!Such a question would never be on the AP exam.

Another multiple-choice question asks for the interval over which ln(x+3) is nonnegative;Again, another question which is highly unlikely to appear on the AP exam because it's a simple pre-calculus question.

3-0 out of 5 stars okay
basically what most of the other reviewers said. this calc prep book is too easy for the ap tests that are now being administered. there are quite a few typos which makes everything a little more confusing. the lessons are okay, but only if you want to review or clear up a fuzzy area. i dont think you can learn calc from this book. what's helpful though is that in the back there are these english-to-calculus translations that are great to memorize and help tremendously for the test. but other than that, look elsewhere for an outstanding calc book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fallsshort of the mark ...
Let me preface this by saying that I spent the last year helping my daughter self-study for the AP Calculus Exam given in May 2007.I bought 4 AP Calculus review guides, 2 textbooks, and looked up the openly available free response questions from the actual tests for the last 7 years. Unfortunately, I agree with the more recent reviews that this guide is inadequate. My overall impression was that Cliffs wanted to expand into other "study" areas besides their well-known CLiffs Notes in literature booklets and put this book together for such a purpose.

The book is filled with typographical errors which are annoying.More over, the book is just too easy.Anyone who has looked at the actual free response questions given on either the AB or BC tests will quickly realize the inadequacy of this book.

The AP test is no longer one in which simple differentiation and integration will carry the day.You need to knowhow to use your calculator to solve problems, clearly understand the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and its applications, be able to read graphs and determine their properties as they relate to calculus, and be able to use data tables in solving problems. This book does none of these adequately.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not at all reliable
I used this book both for Calculus BC and AB, last year, mostly to review for the AP tests. The sections explaining various concepts were marginally helpful but not especially easy to follow. However, the most severe disappointment was the practice problems and tests - what for me should have been the real purpose of the study guide. Both the questions and answers were FULL of typos, so much so that I don't know how this book got published, and I could never tell if I was actually doing the right thing because the book would be wrong. Also, the practice tests were way too easy, and mostly different types of questions than are on the real AP (which I took this morning). You'd do much better off looking at past AP tests, which are accessible online for free.

4-0 out of 5 stars In response to one of the reviews.
One of the review said that Calculus is "Algebra 1" of Advanced Mathematics, which is blatantly incorrect. Calculus and Algebra are two distinctly seperate branches of mathematics although they may involve the use of each other. Also it is rather correct to call calculus a baby Analysis; more correct way to call high school AP Calculus is Calculus without proofs - calculus without substance. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Met expectations
Product was intended for High school students taking AP Computer Science class and had fully met expectations for this purpose.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference
This book is an excellent resource for students preparing to take the AP Computer Science exam. The book is divided into chapters by topic and each topic has clear explanations as well as approximately 25 multiple choice problems per chapter. Each multiple choice solution comes with a clear explanation. There is a practice diagnostic test (both A and AB level) at the beginning of the book with an answer key that indicates which section of the book students should refer to for help. There is another practice exam (both A and AB) at the end of the book and if you buy the book with a CD, there is an additional A and AB practice test on the CD.My students find this book very helpful. As a teacher, this book has made my life so much easier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Roselyn Does It again
Fantastic nuts and bolts review book for the AP exam. Very readable and educational. The author manages to get all the material in there AND provide 2 practice exams per level (A and AB) as well as exams on CD that diagnose any weak areas. The updates for GridWorld are champion efforts and Barron's should feel blessed to have this teacher on board for their review book.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have to pick one, this is the AP Review Book to choose.
The Barron's book is, by far, the best choice for a one-stop resource to prepare students for the APCS Exam.I have taught APCS for 8 years and each edition of this book has been increasingly helpful in getting my kids ready.Whether used concurrently with course study or as a review guide for exam prep, the Barron's text is awesome. The author is still heavily involved with the field and is very accessible for comments and questions, which is a perk.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Book
It is a bit useless to review this book for it's value as an AP study guide, because the AP exams were two days ago, and next year there will be a major change to the content of the exam (No more APCS-AB).

However, I can say this is a very well made study helper. A little sense of humor combined with solid writing, thorough and frequent sections of example code, practice problems for every section, full explanations of every problem, chapter recaps and a specific diagnostic test will teach you all you need to know.

The book assumes it is being used as a supplement of a Java course, or by someone with a cursory knowledge of the language. This book is a great resource for teaching yourself (or anyone, for that matter) how to program, however I would recommend you take a basic Java tutorial online first.

This is one of the best review books for the AP US History test out there.First of all, it condenses all the important details, concepts, and names for you.Too many other review guides serve to go way too far into detail. This book skims the surface on every important era of US History so studying does not become overwhelming and you are not memorizing punitive, useless trivia (something I have seen way too much with other AP US review books).Although it only has two practice tests, they are very realistic depictions of what the real test looks like. The book does an excellent job covering every aspect of the test, that is, the Document Based Question, the multiple choice, and the two free-response questions. In order to best study for the test, I recommend taking notes on every section so you can review your notes later. That's exactly what I did and I got a 5 on the test (and I'm no history buff either).Princeton Review's AP US History review is truly a worthy purchase. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Bigger does not mean Better
I was tempted to buy this book really because of my ambitions for a 5 on the Euro exam.
This book is in fact filled mainly with useless European History you would have no need for on the real exam.
Which brings me to the next issue. The practice exams were unrealistic. Two of them included DBQs of purely difficult political cartoons. The real exam would have different sources. For the tests that had written documents, the documents were enormous and overwhelmingly long. In the real exam the documents would be brief and a lot easier to interpret. While some may argue that it may be better to be prepared for a harder exam when in reality the real exam is a lot easier, the rest of the book was of little help.
The historical content was disorganized. Dates and time periods were out of order and difficult to organize. It was all over the place.
I would definitely suggest obtaining a different prep book for the exam. I seriously set aside a month to try and digest this book. It was not enough. My textbook was actually of more help. To try and review from this book would only mean further confusion and consequently losing valuable time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AP Flashcards
These were worth their weight in gold. I know I tend to learn quickly so I slacked off untill about 2 months prior to the exam. These fact cards helped me get myself into mental shape for the exam, both the multiple choice and giving me alot of background knowledge for the essays. Absolute must haves for any serious history student. Arrived quickly and as described.

4-0 out of 5 stars USeful for review
The cards are a very useful review tool for all levels of US History students.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great (overwhelming) product
If you have a lot of free time and you start studying for the AP early....
get this

there are 1000 words....and i only started studying 3/4 weeks in advance, so the immense number of words was just unachievable and overwhelming
good luck if you have the time to go through an eighth of them

2-0 out of 5 stars There are other sources that are better
I did not like this product very well.the cards where extremely thin that when you read them lead you to ask more questions about certain facts that was mentioned. The content of the cliffnotes were not thorough enough.Which is sad considering that nine hundred facts were mentioned. Other cue cards from a different company reveal facts that was on point as well as thorough without indicating too much. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good practice
This was my only book for both the AB and BC Calculus exams. I ended up with 5's on both. However my success cannot be attributed solely to the book. My teacher was good and taught us from the very basics. This book serves only as a review, it cannot replace a proper textbook or teacher.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best One Out There
We actually buy this book for my AP class. Students are encouraged to first thoroughly go through our text, and then as a review, we go right through Baron's. I felt the Princeton book is too easy, whereas the Baron's book does a better (much better) job on prepartion and then gives slightly harder practice tests which is the correct way to prepare for the actual exam.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent practice and review
This book has lots of sample tests and review questions that helped me a lot when I was studying for the AP Calculus BC exam. The review was very thorough and covered all of the material that was on the exam, and there was even material not on the exam (those are marked with an asterisk and you can safely skip over them). The sample exams were very helpful although the questions are slightly more difficult than those from the actual exam. The same types of questions (albeit easier) appeared on the actual exam. After studying for the exam using this book and old exams, I found the actual exam to be very easy, especially compared to the exam questions in this book. So if you feel unprepared and want to over-prepare to feel confident, I highly recommend this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars AP Calculus
It's concise and clear for a review book. No use if you're LEARNING form it though, since it's designed to invoke and strengthen memory rather than to explain and teach. Great, challenging questions with good explanations.

4-0 out of 5 stars good as a supplement to the class
This is a book that is best for final preparation for the exam.Last year, in BC Calculus, I was absent for the series and sequences lessons due to an illness and I came back for a test studying through the Barron's books and I had trouble understanding it.The tests are definitely a lot harder than the real thing.I studied my [...] off and got a 5 on the actual exam as well as a 5 on the AB subscore. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Early...but in poor condition
The book arrived early, but the condition of the book was way worse than described! The entire practice tests had been filled out completely. Additionally, there were inappropriate comments written in the book.I highly doubt that I will ever purchase an item from the company again.

5-0 out of 5 stars good prep book
it's a good prep book. im studying for ap calculus right now. the test is on may 3rd. it explains well and there are many practice test with practice problems on each chapters. i like it hopefully i will pass the test ;D

5-0 out of 5 stars Has exactly what you need for the test
Has exactly what you need for the test, nothing more and nothing less. Use this book to review and practice with real old tests. The tips about the free response questions are very useful. If your teacher does not have old tests, you can buy them from the College Board.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great supplement to taking an AP Class, or even a replacement?
This book was very straightforward in its explanation of calculus concepts---much simpler than my high school text book. However it contains everything you need to know about the test, along with many practice problems in addition to 3 AB practice tests and 2 BC practice tests. The tests are one of the most helpful parts.
Quite simply, this book is awesome if you want to get a 4 or a 5 on the AP Calculus tests.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent preparation for AP exams, or for self-study of calculus core in preparation for future work--some minor deficiencies.
This is an outstanding presentation of core topics in applied calculus. Only areas identified by the AP Calculus Development Committee are covered. Narrowing the areas presented to those needed for the exam considerably reduces preparation time, compared to studying a more general calculus text.

The greatest strength of this text is its excellent practice problems sets with fully-worked solutions. There are usually about 10 - 25 problems per set, often with multiple problem sets per chapter. Surprisingly, for a book with this many problems, solutions are usually well-described and accurate. Although there are the rare solution section errors, e.g., the incorrectly drawn figure on page 364, or the solution to a different problem than that given on page 369.

Arguably, the book's primary deficiency is its strong emphasis on memorization of problem formats and pattern solutions, to the exclusion of a more general problem-solving strategy. The pattern-solving approach, while extremely helpful for the AP exam, may occasionally lead to "missing the forest for the trees", resulting inreaders spending more time solving a problem than needed. As one example, in Chapter 6 readers are asked to, "Find the values of x where the normal to the graph of (x-9)^2 is parallel to the y-axis."The solution presented follows the previously presented solution pattern of finding the derivative of the curve, i.e., the slope of the tangent to the curve, recognizing that the slope of the normal is the negative reciprocal of the slope of the tangent, and then finding where the slope of the negative reciprocal is infinite.Simply recognizing (x-9)^2 as an upward opening parabola with vertex at x=9 would have allowed the solution to be quickly identified by inspection.

Other deficiencies include the occasional editing lapse, for example, when an unrelated integral trigonometric equation inexplicably appears in the middle of page 81. Some extended coverage, at least an appendix, on the use of graphing calculators, as they are now required for the exams, would have been appreciated. Also, the paper appears to be relatively lower quality than usual, which is probably acceptable considering the book's relatively low cost.

If you're considering an earlier edition to reduce costs, note that although the presentation, examples, and problem sets in, e.g., the 1999/2000 edition are almost identical to the 2009 edition, the 2009 edition has fully worked solutions while the earlier 1999/2000 edition only provides answers.

Although there are some minor deficiencies, this book can be highly recommended for those preparing for AP calculus exams, owing to the excellent concise presentation of topics, and the outstanding and extensive sets of problems with full solutions.Based on my experience, its possible to complete the book at a reasonable pace in about eight weeks.

Except for the relatively extended coverage of curve sketching, an interesting anachronism from earlier decades when plotting software and graphing calculators were not widely available, this book can also be highly recommend for self-study in preparation for applied courses or independent reading where a basic understanding of calculus is needed, even when the AP exams are not a consideration. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One Happy Customer
Thank you.I was very happy when I received this book.It was like new and well-priced.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great review though badly organized
I found this book to be very helpful when preparing for the AP US History exam. It was practically the only source I used the last two weeks before the test. However, I found its organization to be a bit illogical and somewhat confusing. Unlike most history books, this one does not seem to follow a linear timeline. It constantly jumps back and forth with dates. Most of the time this doesn't pose a huge inconvenience, but there were a few times when I felt a little unsure about the order in which events occurred.Besides chronology, I really did like this review book and would certainly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars a good review
Rather than trying to be a synopsis of a text, Velm captures the spirit and essence of each period covered as well as consistently helpful hints on test prep. It's kind of like having Alt. U.S. History version 2, the view from the left side of the fence.Entertaining as a stand alone 'read' even if you're not prepping for the test.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-written, comprehensive, engaging
I really enjoyed reading this book. It's not easy to make history come alive, especially with the looming threat of a major exam. This book doesn't just summarize facts that you might need for the exam.It takes the drudgery out of the exam review. I found myself forgetting that preparation for the exam was the focus and just enjoying the history that became truly compelling in this book. I really think that it would be helpful if this book were used in classrooms along with other methods of test prepration. It is comprehensive without ever being dull, and it's written with wit and compassion. If it's possible to take the stress out of preparation for an AP exam, this book accomplishes that task.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE CALCULUS GUIDE TO YOUR LIFE
Seriously. I GOT A 4 ON THE CALCULUS EXAM :D

There are some minor erros in this book as others have pointed out but overall if you are good at math, this book is very comprehensive and clear-cut.

It is also humorous.

It reviews all the concepts very well and after this, the multiple choice on the exam is so easy!

Although, the free-response isn't practiced as much in here.

My suggestion: Get this book and use it throughout the year and then rereview major concepts before the exam. Print out the free-response questions on the collegeboard site and practice with them.

I wish I had gotten a 5 but I know I probably would have gotten a 3 without this book. If I had started reviewing like 4 weeks earlier instead of 2 weeks earlier, I could have probably absorbed the information better as well :D

5-0 out of 5 stars A calculus book anyone can learn from
This book was incredible.

The reasons I loved this book:
1.) The layout is perfect
2.) It was actually very funny reading this book.
3.) Even the hardest calculus concept were explained in a very simple manner.

I am very confident I got a 4 or 5 on the AP calculus exam because having this book along with studying the free response questions from old ap exams. Reading this book was extremely helpful, especially in the beginning learning the fundamentals of calculus.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect book to study calculus
I was too tired of pre-calc class, so i decided to self-taught calculus.

I was unsure if i can understand calculus from study guide like this

but this book is amazing.

With humorous notes, it gives clear discriptions and reasonalbe explanations.

I definately recommand this book to self-taught or to review calculus

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Book
This book was excellent for Review
Its got a great sense of humor also

every problem is fully explained thats definitly a plus.
the practice tests are harder then the real thing, which is good to know.

unfortunately, anyone who took the Ap calc AB formA knows that the CB gave the hardest FR questions ever.It was nothing like the previous FR questions, and everyone got messed over bad.

i was extremely confident for a 5, and i probably got a 4 now.

good book though. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars terrible review book
This is the worst review book out there! It is all over the place and every event is looked at under a microscope with every detail. through all that information it is hard to tell what is important. The only thing good about it is that it has pictures so you can view art from different time periods and look at the differences between the different time periods. I only read the art pages. The review tests are not at all like the real AP. Using 5 steps to a 5 an the Princeton review book I got a 5! I highly recommend them.

3-0 out of 5 stars NO NO NO
if wanting to get a five on the ap exam, DO NOT get this book!
it is unorganized and all over the place!
and goes into too much detail of the useless..
trust me, i would know, i read and highlighted thru the ENTIRE thing!
but after highlighting thru it all,
i realized how useful it would've been to have had it thruout the year..
i covered a lot of the things my class covered.. so yeah

-bad to have for ap exam
-good to have for ap class

3-0 out of 5 stars eh....there is much better out there
Just got done taking the AP Euro test and I bought this book and three others- not sure which one would end up being the right one for me. This book was NOT. The information is not conclusive enough for the test questions they ask and is in a confusing manner. The practice questions in the back of the book were bogus, or atleast way to easy and not preparing you for the test in any matter what so ever. My teacher has taught this course for nearly 15 years and she hadn't even heard of this book... my recommendations- Barons and Princeton Review (although I haven't gotten my AP test scores yet- those books helped me set the curve for my class and put me head and shoulders above the rest-they were easy to understand, conclusive enough and really helped you learn anything you didn't understand or may have missed)

5-0 out of 5 stars AP Euro
This is the book my daughter's teacher uses.Good index. The book offers understandable synopsis of the events in the text book.
