Excerpt: Arena Football: Road to Glory is a PlayStation 2 video game developed by Electronic Arts (under their EA Sports brand). It was released on February 21, 2007. The cover features fullback/linebacker Bob McMillen, from ArenaBowl XX's champion team, the Chicago Rush. The game includes all the rules, rosters, and teams for the AFL season. For the first time the Arena Football minor league, af2, is included in the series. All of the teams that are competing in the 2007 season are included. EA included the teams from the af2's 2006 season (order they appear on team-selection screen). Players can pan participate in full seasons in the af2 including the Arena Cup game. The following teams were not included because they were expansion teams. The reason for these teams not being included most likely was that they had few or no players on their roster or that they were not announced in time when this game came out. EA has included 38 historic teams in Road to Glory. There are slots for 40 unlockable teams, the other two being the Arena All-Stars and Champs Sports All-Stars. These teams are unlocked through completing certain goals in the game and can be viewed in the user's milestone menu. ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=9633307 ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Annual Arena Football League Record and Fact Books are fun, fun, fun!
Great cover on the 2001 edition with Kenny

named, on the cover. Orlando is still near the
top and the glove is about to become Pro Football's

Purchase includes a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: Colorado Crush were an Arena Football League team that began play as a 2003 expansion team. The Crush played in the Central Division of the American Conference until the Arena Football League suspended operations in 2009. They were last coached by Mike Dailey and owned by a coalition of Denver sports figures led by John Elway. Negotiations with a Denver ownership group (known not to be the Elway group) are underway for a 2011 AFL expansion franchise in Denver, but it is unclear whether or not it will use the Crush branding or that of the Denver Dynamite, an earlier AFL team. Like the Dallas Desperados, the Crush's branding is partially based on an NFL team (the Denver Broncos, though to a much lesser degree), which could give Pat Bowlen a potential veto over any usage of the Colorado Crush branding. The team is based in Denver, Colorado and play at Pepsi Center, which also serves as the home to the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth, the National Hockey League's Colorado Avalanche and the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association. The principal owner of the franchise is Denver Broncos legend and Hall of Famer John Elway (Co-Owner and Chief Executive Officer), with Stan Kroenke, owner of the Nuggets, the Avalanche, Pepsi Center, the Altitude Sports network and the majority Broncos owner Pat Bowlen as a minority owner. The Crush compete in the Central Division of the American Conference. After a bad inaugural season in 2003, in which they finished 2-14, the Crush rebounded to go 11-5 and make the playoffs in their second year. On June 12, 2005 they won ArenaBowl XIX (19) in Las Vegas' Thomas ... Read more

Kapitel: Arena Football League, United States Football League, National Indoor Football League, American Football League, All-America Football Conference, Xfl. Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: The American Football League (AFL) was a major Professional Football league that operated from 1960 until 1969, when it merged with the established National Football League (NFL). The upstart AFL operated in direct competition with the more established NFL throughout its existence. Though downplayed by the NFL as inferior, the AFL signed half of the NFL's first-round draft choices in 1960, including All-American Billy Cannon, perennial All-Star Johnny Robinson, and Hall of Famer Ron Mix. Overall, AFL teams signed 75% of the league's draft choices that first year. It continued to attract top talent from colleges and the NFL by the mid-1960s, well before the Common Draft which began in 1967. In 1966, a merger between the two leagues was announced, but was not finalized until 1970. During its final two years of existence, the AFL teams won upset victories over the NFL teams in Super Bowl III and IV, the former considered among one of the biggest upsets in American sports history. When the merger took place, all ten AFL franchises became part of the merged league's new American Football Conference (AFC), with three teams from the original 16-team NFL (the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Colts) joining them. The remaining 13 original NFL teams became the inaugural members of the National Football Conference (NFC). The AFL logo was incorporated into the newly minted AFC logo, although the color of the "A" was changed from blue and white, to red. The NFL retained its old name and logo and claims the rights to all AFL products including the eagle logo. The National Football League had grown to become one of the most popular professional sports leagues in the United States. One franchise that did not share in the suc...http://booksllc.net/?l=de ... Chapters: Grand Rapids Rampage, Massachusetts Marauders, Detroit Fury. Source: Wikipedia. Pages: 18. Not illustrated. Free updates online. Purchase includes a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Grand Rapids Rampage was an Arena Football League team that began playing as a 1998 expansion team. They were coached by Steve Thonn. The team became the Detroit Drive in 1988 and, in 1994, became the Massachusetts Marauders for one season. Three years later, DP Fox Ventures, L.L.C. bought the team and moved it to Grand Rapids. The team under its final name dates back to 1997. They began play as a professional team in 1998 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, when Dan DeVos purchased the Detroit Drive/Massachusetts Marauders franchise out of bankruptcy court. Grand Rapids was the smallest market in which the AFL had a franchise at the times of its disbanding. The Rampage played in the Van Andel Arena, which is also the home of the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. They competed in the Central Division of the American Conference. The Grand Rapids Rampage started play in 1998 under coach Michael Trigg. In 2001, with notable players Clint Dolezel, and Terrill Shaw, the Rampage went on to win their first ArenaBowl. This game was broadcast live on the ABC Network. The Rampage's official mascot was a Rhinoceros named Blitz. The Rampage had a rivalry with the Nashville Kats, one which dates back to the original Kats. This rivalry solidified with the Rampage's defeat of Nashville in ArenaBowl XV. The Rampage also shared a rivalry with the Chicago Rush, known as the Amtrak Classic, after the Amtrak railway system which connects the two cities. On July 6, 2008, the Amtrak Classic added an interesting chapter as the Rampage, losers of their last six meetings with Chicago, defeated their heavily-favored opponents on the road. Grand Rapids entered the game as a 6 see...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=461350 ... Read more

Chapters: Columbus Destroyers, Cincinnati Rockers,. Source: Wikipedia. Pages: 16. Not illustrated. Free updates online. Purchase includes a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Columbus Destroyers were an Arena Football League team. The franchise was founded in Buffalo, New York in 1999, and played in Columbus, Ohio from 2004 until the league folded in 2008. They were coached by Pat Sperduto. The Buffalo Destroyers began play during the 1999 AFL season, playing their home games at HSBC Arena, and were owned by Buffalo-area businessman Mark Hamister. The team was founded, in part, because of fears that a lease expiration could have led to the demise or relocation of the NFL's Buffalo Bills, the city's largest sports franchise. Those fears were unfounded as a multiyear lease deal to keep the Bills in Western New York was signed shortly thereafter and remained in effect long after the Destroyers left Buffalo. The name "Destroyers" came from a naming contest and alluded to the naval ship of the same name, one of which sits outside the HSBC Arena in the nearby Buffalo Naval and Serviceman's Park. The Destroyers initially attracted high attendance levels, but a lack of winning early on caused attendance to decline, something the team never recovered from. The first head coach, Dave Whinham, was fired in the middle of the Destroyers' second season after an abysmal 1-17 record. Former Buffalo Bills player Ray Bentley was selected as his replacement; however, he couldn't lead the Destroyers to a winning season. The closest he came was in 2001, when his team started 6-3 but would end the season on an 0-5 skid to just barely miss the playoffs. The team had another 6-8 season, this time enough to make the playoffs but lost in the first round, in 2002. Bentley abruptly resigned after that season to take a job in broadcasting, and Ron Selesky, a respe...http://booksllc.net/?id=232091 ... Read more

Excerpt: Reunion Arena -Reunion Arena was completed in 1980 at a cost of $27 million. It was named for the early mid-nineteenth century commune, La Reunion. In late 2005, the arena and the Dallas Convention Center were used as the primary Dallas shelters for evacuees of Hurricane Katrina. In 1994, President Bill Clinton visited the arena to watch his beloved University of Arkansas basketball team play in the NCAA Tournament. Reunion Arena also hosted the WCT Tennis Tournament in the 1980s, including The Virginia Slims Invitational Tournament. Due to scheduling conflicts in 1984, the WCT Tennis Tournament forced the Dallas Mavericks to play Game 5 of their first ever playoff series at Moody Coliseum, against the Seattle SuperSonics. While Southern Methodist University competed in the Southwest Conference, Reunion Arena was known by University of Arkansas Razorbacks fans, as Barnhill South, due to the big following by the Arkansas fans away from home, the Barnhill Arena was the home to all UA games until 1993. The arena also hosted numerous concerts and other events. While the first concert at Reunion was billed as The Who on July 2, 1980, at least two other concerts played there in late June: Foghat and Pat Travers on June 25, 1980; and Ted Nugent, Scorpions, and Def Leppard on June 26, 1980. The rock band Journey played three consecutive shows at the arena in April 1983 and again in December 1986.Van Halen played three shows in June 1984 and Pink Floyd played three consecutive shows at Reunion in November, 1987.
