Extractions: The Kingvale Tubing And Sledding Center is the designer and manufacturer of the "Stinger" fun park grooming implement. They use the Stinger to carve and maintain some of the most exhilarating and innovate tubing lanes in existence. They have 5 lift-served tubing lanes and several groomed sledding lanes. All sledding devices are provided, and outside equipment is prohibited. Snack bar on site. New activities include night tubing and snowmobile tours. Open Friday-Monday 10-4 p.m. Kingvale Tubing and Sledding Center The Playland Sledding area of the mountain offers sledding lanes for more fun on the snow for children of all ages. A plastic saucer is provided. There is also a designated snowplay area. Two chairlifts access 16 runs on wide-open terrain that is perfect for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The terrain is rated 30% beginner, 50% intermediate and 20% advanced. The resort averages 400 inches of snowfall annually (576 inches last season). The summit elevation is 7,325 feet and the base elevation is 6,700 feet, making for a vertical drop of 652 feet. The longest run is one mile.

Extractions: Picture this a sanguine, tree-lined townhouse community nestled at the top of the hill in East York off Mt. Rose Avenue and away from the traffic noise of this busy section of York Township. This is where we live and have lived most of us since 1986-87 when our townhouse community, Chambers Crossing, was created. We bought our homes here for just that reason they were well-built, attractive and the neighborhood was very quiet and orderly. To this mix, now add a golf course/hotel resort complex called Heritage Hills, which started construction in 1989 or thereabouts. At first, Heritage Hills was strictly a golf course and driving range with a restaurant/clubhouse building. This addition to our neighborhood (since the golf course is only about 50 feet from the end of our property line) seemed to work most of the time and didnt disrupt our lifestyle to any great degree. Sure, there was the occasional disruptive loudspeaker system calling the golfers to get ready for tee off for the occasional weekend tournaments, and the late night parties at the restaurant sometimes awakened us. You see, the topography in our neighborhood is such that we can hear even a few dozen people yelling hip, hip, hooray from the golf range like they were in our front yard! A very strange set of circumstances, but that is the lay of the land, which creates a sort of amphitheater effect for sound.

Sliding down a snow covered hill in an intertube is not a new concept but when you add banked chutes and take away the walk up the hill, you have made a fun activity even more enjoyable. Tubing has become the latest rage at many ski areas thanks to the Multi-Skilift handle tow. Sixteen-foot wide chutes are sculpted into a kind of miniature bobsled run that controls the direction of the tube and keeps the tube in the chute.
