The 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, previously awarded to the FleetCenter in Boston, are being relocated due to the city being awarded the 2004 Democratic National Convention (DNC). Women's Regional Congress List March 17, 2003 - The 2003 Rhythmic Future Stars Camp was held March 14-16 at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center. Twenty athletes participated from the 2003 Future Stars Development Team. On staff this year was National Team Coordinator, Efrossina Anguelova as well as retired athletes, Jessica Howard and Taryn Look. The coaches and athletes went away from a full weekend having learned a great deal and making new friends. Mary Sanders was there for the weekend training right along beside the girls. Classified Ads

Extractions: Flexibility and Waves Even though flexibility is not the only thing that Rhythmic Gymnastics offer, but a lot of people do get dazzled by the extreme flexibilty that most elite gymnasts display. Waves and flexibility are classfied under the same fundamental body group. It is really important to remember that waves requires the athlete to show a COMPLETE head to toe wave and not just a wave of the body/hip or limbs. For flexibility difficulties to count, there must be good amplitude in shape. You can also see that the valid flexibility difficulties all require good mix of strength and control. Back flexibility is something that requires to be developed over a long period of time starting from a very young age. It should never be forced. Rhythmic Gymnastics is more than just back flexibilty, but if a gymnast do have a flexible back, by all means - show it. Bearing in mind that good choreography and flow still comes ahead of a string of stunning poses. FIG, concerned over the number of back injuries that causes gymnasts to cut short their competitive career, changed the code to specifically limit the use of MG, Back Illusion, and MG Turns in a routine. A routine cannot have more than 2 of these specific elements. Refer to the Artistic Value section for details.
