In conjunction with the National Ports Authority Port Festivals at all of their seven commercial ports around the country, the SA Formula 1 Powerboat Series, aims to offer its sponsors the highest mileage possible on their sponsorships by providing extensive coverage on television, radio, the printed media and also electronically on the internet. The SA Formula 1 Powerboat Series is South Africa's National Powerboating Series through which pilots can earn National Colours and are entitled to race internationally under the South African flag.

At least that must have been what the captain thought... Powerboats are much cooler than large pre-war ships anyway. A real powerboat accelerates from nought to 60 in just three seconds. In other words, a powerboat is the marine counterpart to a Formula One car. Powerboat Racing, however, is an arcade game with a twist. It's set completely on water, not totally unlike the N64's excellent WaveRace. Here you can race through wet and challenging courses from the comfort of your own living room. Being the first watersports game for the PC, will Powerboat Racing do the same for the PC as its N64 equivalent did for the console? Powerboat Racing features eight courses, ranging from the classic jungle theme to more sophisticated tracks. It's possible to compete in Russia, Nevada, Japan, Norway, Monaco, England, Brazil, and New York. As you can see, the tracks are spread all over the world, not very different from just about any arcade game ever created. They are all very well designed, and provide a varied challenge. Most of the courses have some kind of ongoing action not related to the race. For instance, there's a fight between a cop and a punk in the harbour area of New York. There are also mad taxi drivers who think their yellow penis substitutes belong in the lush water rather than on the road. Cute features that make the background action more vivid and lively while you frenetically guide your boat through the tracks. The dissimilarities from one course to another improve the longevity of the game.
