Extractions: When a snowboarder or a surfer longs for what they can't have, they turn to the mountainboard. It's a board with no boundaries, which means you can take it just about anywhere. The mountainboard is the Big Wheel of the 90's, and it's giving snowboarders an off-season edge in perfecting their style. "Riding the different conditions, such as asphalt, feels like you're riding hard-pack snow because you can lay it on edge," describes Jason Lee, owner of Mountainboard Sports. "And grass or dirt feels a little like other types of snow because you can slide the 180 real nice." "As far as cross-training, your body, motions, turning 180's and everything, it keeps you in shape for when the snow does finally come," adds Bob Tate. "You can almost learn new tricks in the off-season so that you have no downtime. If not, you are stronger when you get on the snow." What sets this all-terrain board apart from the rest is it's huge pneumatic tires and an innovative steel spring dampening system to manage the terrain. "It's a channel system and it has two compression springs in it, and they rotate around a central axis," explains Jason. And, Jason adds, that makes it easier to turn, "It puts the rider's weight in between the wheels as opposed to on top of the wheels."

It offers the thrill of snowboarding on a variety of terrains during the off-season; long after the snow has melted. With mountainboards, outdoor enthusiasts are no longer restricted by weather patterns, limited types of terrain, or icy or windy conditions. The rapid growth of boarding sports in the U.S., from snowboarding to wakeboarding, yields 20 million eager sideways-sliding consumers, all yearning for a sport that is yearlong in nature, limitless in terrain and places to ride. Mountainboards are fitted with bindings and come in a variety of models, depending on the riders skill level and riding preference. The key difference from a snowboard is in the tires and suspension. Mountainboards come with a comprehensive selection of off-road tires and high performance suspension for virtually any kind of terrain, ranging from paved streets, BMX Tracks, dirt roads, grassy ski slopes and even rocky terrain. MBS mountainboards can be equipped with a reverse V brake, the companys proprietary technology. This is especially helpful for beginners who are learning how to ride as well as advanced riders who prefer more extreme terrain such as steep single track.

American Skiing Company (ASC) Resorts in New England Three of ASCs ski resorts: Sunday River in Maine, Attitash in New Hampshire, and Killington in Vermont now offer mountainboard rentals during the summer months. Their courses are great for the beginner rider who wants to try the sport, to the advanced rider looking for long carves and air. Beginners can take a lesson and get a feel for the board at specially designed parks designated for mountainboarding. Riders can hop a lift to the top and carve down grassy slopes all the way to the bottom. 2. Dragon Dirt in Japan For the real adventurer, Dragon Dirt is located near Mount Fuji in Japan. This was the first real mountainboard terrain park and has jumps, tables, rails and other high-performance toys. This is where Japans top riders brush up on their riding skills. 3. Snow Japan - Features : Mountainboarding Snow Japan Feature Columns Snow Japan Features Index Features Index. mountainboardingBy Rod Walters. You That's mountainboarding. mountainboarding http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/features-22.html
Extractions: By Rod Walters You stand at the top of a rough grassy slope on a board attached to wheels. The slope is strewn with half-buried rocks and there are patches of scree dotted about. Mountainboarding is both old and new. The basic mountainboard is not really that different from skateboards that have been around for years. It's more rugged and the wheels are bigger with knobly tires, but the principle of turning left and right by leaning forward and back is the same. It's new in that it owes much of it's popularity to snowboarding that has only recently become a major sport. There are several basic mountainboard designs. Perhaps the best boards come from countries not blessed with even decent snow. The fittingly named 4-wheeled NoSno and the 3-wheeled Starkboard are from the UK, while the Outback is Australian. The bog-standard Mongoose, MBS and so on are all bigger, heavier and not quite so cool. For oh-my-god design, nothing can beat the DirtSurfer which is barely a board at all. This is the fastest rig of the bunch and is best suited to wide carving. The obvious problem with riding a wheeled board down a steep slope is slowing down and stopping. You can jump off a skateboard, and maintain fine control of a snowboard with the edges, but you need to be strapped onto a mountainboard and it has no 'natural' speed control elements. This problem is solved by making wide turns across the slope to control speed where there is space, hanging on for dear life when there isn't, and the power slide for coming to a complete stop. Low tire pressure will also result in lower speed, as of course will riding on gentler slopes, both of which are highly recommended to start off.
MountainBoarding On Hiker Central Search Web. Basics of Mountain Boarding The mountain board works muchlike a snowboard. Unlike a snowboard http://www.hikercentral.com/mountainboarding/
Extractions: The mountain board works much like a snowboard. Unlike a snowboard, it has wheels and hurts alot more when you fall. You turn by shifting your weight to either side of the board. Always remember to keep your balance and not to turn to far. Jumping is a little more difficult than turning. If you have a leash pull up on it and do small wheelies. This will also help on bumpy courses. Once you get this down you can try to jump. When you pull up on the leash also pull up your leg to lift the back. While in the air straighten yourself out so your level with the ground. When you land keep your knees bent so you won't break your leg. Mountain Boarding Mountain boarding is essentially very good fun. The sport itself can be completley safe and controlled or very dangerous, depending where you do it and how good you are!If you've ever snowboarded or skated before you should have no problems getting to grips with it, but just remember to take you time while learning the basics, to stop any bad habits developing.
