Extractions: I have found it difficult to obtain player's reviews and descriptions of golf discs. With the large number of new discs being released each year it is often tedious and expensive to purchase one or two of everything to give it a try and then spending the time to shoot it out against what you currently carry. I hope this site may provide a resource for players to read and submit disc reviews and descriptions of golf discs from various manufacturers in order to share knowledge and help players find discs that fit their style and improve their game. I am aware that everyone throws differently and will have a different opinion of each disc, but I have found that hearing "it flies like a cyclone but a little faster and more understable." is a lot more helpful than the companies description of "it's the new long range driver. it's fast and is the farthest flying disc on the market."

Extractions: What Is Disc Golf? When you're trying to tell friends about your passion for disc golf, they will grasp the concept more quickly if you use the term 'frisbee golf' instead. So why isn't the game called frisbee golf? "Frisbee" is a registered trademark much like "Kleenex" is in the tissue world, so we must call the game 'disc golf' and explain from there. Oddly enough, the company which produces Frisbee toys makes very few golf discs. The Gear Putter, midrange and driver. Disc golf is a lot like traditional "ball" golf, except players use specially made plastic flying discs instead of balls and clubs, and throw them for 'par' at an above-ground target instead of a hole in the ground. There are different types of discs used for different purposes, much like ball golfers use different clubs. The object of the game The Drive Most disc golf courses consist of 18 or 24 holes, and you'll find some nine-hole courses too. Holes lengths vary, but generally fall between 150 and 500 feet each. Trees, shrubbery, water and terrain changes offer plenty of hazards to avoid, and it becomes very possible to lose a disc in areas with thick growth, tall trees or (SPLASH!) deep water. Fortunately, at retail prices between $7 and $12, lost discs are more easily replaced than your typical nine-iron. We are also working on sending the result list to all participants as soon as possible. We, Kalmar Frisbee Klubb, hopes to one more time in the near future host another WFDF-WOC since we all felt kind of empty when this WOC was over. We may set our sights to 2003, but nothing is clear yet. However it is always the players who make a tournament and you all came through. We had never in our wildest expectations imagined that so many foreigners would come. We got more and more psyched as more and more participants registered. Hopefully you people who participated at this Worlds will become our PR people in your own countries if and when we decide to host again. We have looked a little on what we have taped during the week and hopefully we can make a WFDF video of it. We have over 10 hours of tape, including the whole final day. We will be looking at that in a near future aswell, but the main goal for us now is to get this website up with images and results and other "goodies".
