Croydon Camogie Club History. The following articles are taken from various camogie Annuals and serveas background information on the Club's history and achievements to date. http://www.croydoncamogieclub.com/history.asp
Extractions: (Camogie Annual 2001) The determination which showed back in 1999, when this club looked like folding, is still prevalent today in Croydon Camogie Club. Despite a number of setbacks during the season, the club has managed to field all its scheduled fixtures with the exception of one, which was due to the bereavement of a family member of two of the players. It has been a busy year for Croydon, both on and off the playing field. In March, members of the club presented shamrock to the Mayor of Croydon in the Mayor's Parlour, whilst others performed a number of Irish dancers for the Mayor and invited guests. Players helped with the raising of the Irish flag outside the Croydon Council's offices to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Extractions: Let us know what you think Home Camogie AS soon as the weather clears up and pitches are playable teams will be back in action. There is a big backlog of games to be played, with senior league, junior league and U/21, U/18A, U/16A championships to be completed. Hopefully this will have happened before the new season's programme of games begins. Now is the time for clubs to be planning for the year ahead. Deciding if teams can be fielded is the most important thing and clubs unable to field should know in good time and inform their players so that those interested in playing can make arrangements re transferring, regrading etc. Most clubs are able to field at U/14 and U/12 (both of which are 12 a-side) but many clubs will encounter difficulties at U/16, U/18, adult (all of which remain 15 a-side). The progressive West Board G.A.A. has honoured the divisions camogie people in its annual Sports Stars Awards scheme. Winners this year were (1) Lizzie O'Dea (Adare) Camogie Merit Award. (2) Michelle Casey (Killeedy) Senior camogie. (3) Meadhbh Nash (Newcastle West) Intermediate camogie and (4) Annette Casey (Adare) Junior camogie. The awards are well deserved. Lizzie O'Dea's commitment to camogie is second to none, while Michelle, Meadhbh and Annette are outstanding, committed exponents of the beautiful game. The awards were presented at the annual West Board Presentation Dinner and Dance at the Devon Hotel on Friday last, at which Sean McCague (G.A.A. President) and Sean Kelly (Munster Council Chairperson) were special guests.

Extractions: home pubs and clubs community shops and services ... art newvo cuisine Click the text to find out more Camogie is primarily an Irish sport, equivalent to hurling, but played by ladies. There are 12 clubs in the UK and apart from the Irish living over here and second generation Irish it is being played more and more by hockey players with no Irish connection whatsoever. Our Club has being in existence now since 1986 and apart from playing a competitive sport, comradeship is a major influence for joining. We train at Berkley Avenue in Greenford and games commence in April. We are always on the look out for players of any standard. Currently we just have 1 team entered into competition but would like to build on this and raise the profile of our game. Our website is in construction and its expansion will come as the season takes off... For the attention of Paula
