Extractions: Adders Archers Cats Gael Winds ... Warriors Camogie Camogie practices are held on Tuesday evenings from 6PM until dark at Riverside High School (Oakland and Locust). These will be practices where conditioning, training, and instruction will always take place. There will also be plenty of communication at these practices on upcoming events for your feedback, etc. Please try to make as many of the Tuesday practices as you can. Everyone who plans to play will need to receive and review a packet of information. It will include Rules of Play, Acknowledgement of Assumption of Risk forms and Release forms. These forms need to be completed in order to play and practice (those of you ladies who are hurling will already have completed these). These packets will be available at all camogie and hurling practices. If you need to purchase a hurley or other equipment, you may do so during the regular Milwaukee Hurling Club practices (Wednesdays at 6pm) at the lakefront pitch. Camogie players are welcome and encouraged to attend these practices as well! The best shoes to wear would be cleats, if you can get your hands on some. Any fees due for events or t-shirts/socks, etc. will be announced in future updates. Jennifer Dressler will be heading up the training of Camogie players, and she will be running Tuesday practices. Please contact Jennifer with any questions.

In 1998 we played in the I.N.T.O. 7-a-side. We played very well all through the tournament but we were beaten in the final by St. Saviours. Also in 1998 we played in the under 13 A league. We won our first three matches but we were beaten in the Eastern final by Dunhill. Jacinta McGrath and I were nominated by our school to represent our school in the County Trials. The Queen's University Of Belfast Camogie Club (QUBCC) QUEENS UNIVERSITY camogie CLUB. By the 1970's Queens camogie Club were beginningto attract county players from all over the province of Ulster. http://quis.qub.ac.uk/camogie/history.htm
Extractions: Club History by Bernie Mc Nally Queens Camogie Club was formed in the 1950's joining UCD, UCG and UCC in the famous Ashbourne Cup Competition. Although QUB were more participants than serious contenders for the cup, this dedicated band of ladies set the foundation stones for what is now one of the strongest camogie colleges in Ireland. By the 1970's Queens Camogie Club were beginning to attract county players from all over the province of Ulster. Among them were Margaret Moriaty (Armagh), Mary Mc Coy (Down) and Anne Mc Allister (Antrim). However, in spite of intensive training and sound organisation that coveted prize of Ashbourne still eluded them. By the 1980's a new bunch of ladies had joined the club. These included Teresa Allen (Down), Patricia Mc Allister (Antrim), Yvonne Redmond (Dublin) and their present coach Bernie Mc Nally (Armagh). With these players Queen's success came in the form of an historic defeat of UCG, which allowed Queens into their first ever Ashbourne final in 1984. Although on the losing side to UCD, Queens had now become a force to be reckoned with. That Ashbourne defeat however by UCD was to start a log and frustrating trend of defeats in Ashbourne by the Dublin college. Between 1984 and 1991, Queen's exit from Ashbourne came at the hands of UCD. Queens however continued to grow and develop and a major breakthrough came in 1989 when Queens captures their first ever national title, defeating Maynooth College in the CCIA League Final. This victory was only possible because of their magnificent win over Ashbourne champions UCG in the semi final. At that time players like Antrim's Siobhan Mc Erlain, Derry's Catherine O'Neill and Down's Bronagh Mc Cann proved that Ulster Colleges camogie was on the way up.

Extractions: ST. RITA'S CAMOGIE CLUB Camogie first came to Fethard in 1912 but no records of that club have sur-vived. St Rita's Camogie club was founded in 1962. The revival of the camogie club was brought about by the popular star camogie player, Kitty O'Flaherty (R.I.P.), and the late Fr. Cooke who throughout the sixties did tremendous work for the club. The first annual general meeting of St Rita's Camogie club was held in 1963 and the following were the officers elected: Rev Fr. Cooke, Chairman; Miss A Mahon, vice-chairman; M Moloney, secretary and A O'Brien, treasurer. The panel of players was Vera Purcell, Peggy Carroll, Joan Russell, Louise O'Meara, Breda Delahunty, Patricia O'Halloran, Mary Moloney, Tossie Carroll, Peggy Russell, Ann Sheehan, Margaret Fitzgerald, Nancy Purcell, Pauline Ryan, Teresa Ryan, Ester Ryan, Alice Long, Kathleen Byrne and Mary McCormack. The girls did the town of Fethard proud by winning both the South and County Intermediate titles in both 1964 and 1965. Two titles back to back in such a short time was a remarkable achievement but by 1966 the camogie club in Fethard had started to fade away. The more recent revival of camogie in Fethard was due mainly to the work of Tossie Lawton, who was better known as Tossie Carroll from the winning teams of the sixties. The club retained the successful name of St Rita's and the annual general meeting took place on the 30th July 1987. The following officers were elected: Tossie Lawton, Chairperson; Margaret Quinlan, secretary and Mary Kenrick, treasurer.

Extractions: Tir Conaill Harps Camogie Club has the honour of currently being the only Camogie team in Scotland. Although there have been teams within Glasgow previously, the club in its present form has existed since 1999. During this time the club has developed at a good rate and all involved with the team are prepared to hard work to see this progress continue. The principle problem the team has found in its development has been the lack of opportunity to play camogie matches. We are keen to play both British based teams and Irish teams more regularly It was this lack of match practice that greatly influenced our decision to join the Scottish Ladies (South) Shinty league. This presented the daunting challenge for many in the team of mastering not one but two new games.( http://www.shinty.com/ladies/) The team would like to invite any interested camogie team over to Glasgow for a weekend. We would guarantee you a good match and an enjoyable weekend. We would also be grateful if readers in Ireland and the rest of Britain would let any interested camogie players in the Glasgow area know about the existence of the team. Although we are working hard to raise the profile of the club very little is really known about the game in Scotland and we feel some potential players are not joining the team because they are unaware it exists. Please feel free to contact either our manager, Grace McBride (grace_mc_bride@hotmail.com) on either of these matters.
