Auf den Kapitellen thronen vergoldete Figurengruppen ( geflügelte Pferde, Ruhmesgöttinen), an deren Basis sind Reliefe aus ruhmreichen Epochen angebracht, zu denen Motive aus der Zeit Karls des Großen, der Renaissance, Louis XIV. und des Kaiserreiches zählen. Dem Zeitgeist entsprechend waren die bedeutenden Epochen der gotischen Kathedralen und der Französischen Revolution ausgespart. Baukonstruktion Dekorationen mit floralen Elementen, Girlanden usw. folgen den technisch strukturellen Gliederungen des Tragwerks, so daß die Konstruktion teilweise erkennbar bzw. erahnbar bleibt. Allerdings ist der größte Teil der Baukonstruktion, wie zu jener Zeit üblich, verblendet. Das Tragwerk besteht u.a. aus 15 Dreigelenkbögen, die aus Stahlgußwerkstücken gefertigt wurden. Das Pfeilerverhältnis 1:17,5 ist eines der flachsten, das jemals bei einer Bogenbrücke gewagt wurde.
