Zimerman's symphony orchestra, composed of Polish musicians, is to give its first performance in Bologna next summer. After concerts in several Italian cities, it will take part in the famous Salzburg Festival and later, in September, it will arrive in Poland to give four concerts (in Warsaw, Poznañ, Katowice and Cracow) and take part in a recording session at the Lutos³awski Concert Studio in Warsaw, famous for its superb acoustics. The Deutsche Grammophon company, with which Zimerman has been connected since the beginning of his career, promised to release the recording within two weeks. "In the past 10 years I have taken profound satisfaction in playing music in its native land," said the pianist. "I played Mozart in Salzburg, Brahms in Hamburg, and I now want to record Chopin's piano concertos in Poland with Polish musicians. I think it is my duty to commemorate Chopin in this way."
