He was a celebrated pianist whom some called "the reincarnation of Liszt" ... He gave only a handful of concerts in the last 60 years of his life ... As a first step, offered below are MIDI transcriptions by Michael Brown of several compositions of the very young Nyiregyhazi. These compositions were published in a pioneering psychomusical study of the abilities of the young prodigy. To my knowledge they have not been republished or transcribed elsewhere. Nyiregyhazi & Other 'comeback' Musicians I am attempting to find out further information on a pianist named ErvinNyiregyhazi, Hungarianborn (1903) but has lived mainly in the US. http://www.chelsea-fc.com/~wil/cgi-bin/shar/msgs/81.htm
Extractions: Hi, I am attempting to find out further information on a pianist named Ervin Nyiregyhazi, Hungarian-born (1903) but has lived mainly in the US. The period I am interested in is his 'comeback' in 1973 when he returned to the stage after a long absence. I'm studying David Helfgott for a Masters in Sociology and I feel this guy offers an interesting comparison to Helfgott. If anyone knows of other musicans who returned to the stage after many years (no matter the response they got), or have any ideas where I could find info on this Ervin guy it would be very much appreciated.
