He is featured on Mr Glass' latest CD, Philip Glass: Saxophone , where he performs the world premiere recording of "Melodies For Saxophone", an unaccompanied piece for a single saxophonist playing soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, a piece which also received its concert premiere by Mr Sterman in several duo recitals with the composer. Mr Sterman has developed a unique method of teaching the art of woodwind playing, based on his long study of breathing techniques from Asian healing traditions (including tai ji and qigong) and his love and study of the early historical recordings of great master musicians in the Western tradition. He teaches privately in New York and has conducted clinics at major music schools in America and abroad.

Along the way, he wrote letters to his young wife from Fort Leavenworth, Ft. Laramie, and Salt Lake City. He also meticulously kept a diary in which he recorded the events of the day including the amount of gold dust recovered. As the gold was accumulated, it was shipped by Wells Fargo Express back to his wife in Chicago. After twenty-one months, he returned home. He had returned some $3,000 in gold. "There are today old estates in Evanston which either in their beginnings or through additions are in part made up of the money brought back from the gold mines in California." Ibid, Page 325. Fined for having 'obscene and lascivious' pictures in his stereoscope machine, he was constantly producing new ideas to draw in the crowds.1 McDermott, Galt - Author of the precedent-setting musical Hair , is also of partly Scottish descent.14

Extractions: for fall 2001 new freshmen GREEN BAY - Facing its tightest enrollment picture in nearly a decade, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has announced it will stop accepting most new-freshman applications on Friday, Feb. 16, for fall semester 2001. The cutoff is the second-earliest on record for UW-Green Bay. The school stopped accepting applications in late January in 1993 but, in most years since, has remained open until late spring or summer. "Despite our best efforts to 'reel things in' before we reached this point, we're going to have to curtail incoming freshman applications or run the risk of going well over our enrollment targets," says Steve Neiheisel, assistant dean for enrollment services. UW-Green Bay experienced an "exceptionally strong" flow of new applications over the fall, Neiheisel says. More than 2,000 applications have already been received for what are projected to be 980 spots in the next new-freshman class. In addition, improved retention of continuing students and the larger-than-expected freshman class this past year have contributed to the squeeze. UW-Green Bay has a state-approved target of 4,357 full-time equivalent students for fall 2001. The targets help UW System institutions maintain quality by keeping enrollment aligned with available resources such as adequate class sections and student services.

Extractions: St. Patrick's dayI should make sure I am wearing green of some sort. My first choice was rejected by Heath as he said it was not green (I pretty much agreed with him) so he gave me a dark green t-shirt to wear. Another day full of errands and working out at the gym. I ran 2 miles with Andi (I was impressed how well she did and even more so when she wasn't very winded but I bet her legs are going to hurt tomorrow). I found out that I am first alternate at St. Louis University so hopefully someone with an offer will turn them down so I can sneak in and proceed to dazzle them with my skills (whatever those arestill not exactly sure what these skills consist ofman what a rambling sentence). I cooked homemade pizza for dinnerdelicious. I went to the library for a little bit to work on my thesis. Last night Heath opened his birthday present (turned 24)box set of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. I was glad to see that he liked his gift. Today, I got up and went to the gym supposedly with Andi (she wants to resume her fitness program she last attempted a month and a half ago). I applaud her renewed motivation!!! However, she needs to make it out of bed and to the gym to actually exercise (something she failed to do todaymaybe guilt will become a strong motivator). I went to the library for a few hours and worked on my thesis. Andi took me to lunch at the Grill since I helped her pick out new running shoes (I am always glad to be of service). I also went running with Nancy (for at least 2 miles) and then Andi (1 mile), got home, and watched Gonzaga beat Florida (awesome game). I cooked black bean salsa chicken that Andi seemed to like and is something I love to eat.
