Pianist Bradley Joseph - Biography It has long been an unwritten adage among musicians that within every great worldwith Yanni and Sheena Easton, keyboardist/composer Bradley joseph is primed http://www.bradleyjoseph.com/bio.html
Extractions: ORDER Biography Live Dates Latest News ... HOME It has long been an unwritten adage among musicians that within every great sideman is a solo artist waiting to emerge. After years touring the world with Yanni and Sheena Easton, keyboardist/composer Bradley Joseph is primed for stardom of his own Through the magical reach of the World Wide Web, the Minnesota native caught the attention of Narada Records in 1997. Drawing upon a lifetime of reflections and experiences, "Rapture", Bradley's stunning album for Narada, is a beautifully realized journey into the heart and soul of an artist whose musical vision paints vibrant portraits both emotional and spiritual. Bradley's catalog also contains four releases on his own label (Robbins Island Music) titled "One Deep Breath", "Christmas Around The World", "Solo Journey", and "Hear The Masses". Beginning with simple melodic lines on the piano, Bradley has a unique way of creating even the most highly textured productions: "Basically, I write from a two person standpoint. First, I let the song take hold and I put down the idea as a raw emotional statement. Then I let it breathe and come back, approaching from more of an objective point of view. This allows me to rediscover the true meaning I intended in the beginning, shedding new light on how I can best represent that to the listener.

Extractions: The Long-Awaited Follow-Up to Fluffy Ruffle Girls . . . Virginia Eskin Plays Joseph Lamb "I used to have a theory that the rags written by women were superior to those of men, until I strolled into Joe Lamb. His rags are a lacy, laden with arching melodies, and finger-leasing as any the ladies wrote. There is a nostalgic turn of phrase in everything he touched, which has made his works very popular among pianist." Virginia Eskin American Beauties The Piano When Virginia Eskin turned her lively classical skills to a collection of little-known rags by women (Northeastern's Fluffy Ruffle Girls, NOR CD 9003), the critics raved. Now she returns with a delightful collection of tunes, both widely-known and rare, by ragtime great Joseph Lamb. Joe Lamb (1887-1960) published many rags early in this century, then mostly abandoned commercial music until his rediscovery in the 1950's. But even during this hiatus he kept composing in his unique, almost-classical style. Today Lamb is considered one of the three most important composers of ragtime, along with Scott Joplin and James Scott.
Mark Joseph, Pianist - Biography pianist Mark joseph Romantic, easy listening and new age music for piano. Meet the Artist Mark joseph. pianist Mark joseph grew up in Sydney, Australia. Mark moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1996 after his long time business partner retired. http://www.markjosephmusic.com/bio.html
Extractions: Meet the Artist... Mark Joseph Pianist Mark Joseph grew up in Sydney, Australia. At the age of five he was the youngest child ever accepted to the Conservatory of Music where he performed in concerts and won awards. He had originally planned to be a doctor, but soon realized music was his destiny. He received a Bachelor's degree in musical composition at the University of Sydney, and from then on, he began building an exciting career in what he was best at and loved most, composing music. Mark arrived in the United States in 1975 upon his acceptance to Berklee College of Music in Boston. He graduated from Berklee in two years Summa cum laude. Mark's career took a big leap in 1977 when he accepted a job writing and composing jingles for a company in Chicago. It was in Chicago that Mark met his future partner, Gary Klaff. Together, in 1979, they launched their own enormously successful company writing and composing jingles for nationally known companies. Their expertise was creating jingles for radio, TV, and business advertising. Some of their original musical creations were the McDonalds, Budweiser, Michelob, Pizza Hut, Mazda, Pontiac, Coors, and the Hoover Vacuum jingles. It doesn't stop there - Mark produced countless other jingles that included working with the Temptations, Frank Sinatra, the Neville Brothers, Lee Greenwood, Vince Gill, Jeff Baxter from the Doobie Brothers, and David Clayton Thomas from Blood Sweat and Tears.
Extractions: Those of us who have listened with delight to Joseph Long's two previous discs (The Young Maestros Series: Hurstwood Farm Music Studios: Balakirev CD 97005; Chopin CD 98009) will have looked forward to this present CD. With an impeccable technique his earlier recitals of Balakirev and Chopin - dispatching with truly musical aplomb such a frightening war-horse as 'Islamey' - showed him to be a thoughtful musician with an impressive range of expression, tending now and again to a youthful impetuosity. In this recital he opens with a restrained account of the 5th of Scriabin's exotic Sonatas (Eaglefield Hull did actually use the word 'impetuous' of this work.) - yet this is a romantic and clear account, unfussed by overpedalling, allowing air and light into the structure. This same crisp technique, reminiscent of the playing of Perlemuter, suits well the Ravel Sonatine which in these hands sounds pristine. A serious note is sounded in the first and third of Sibelius's op. 67, the profundities couched in an almost Beethovenian idiom. A lighter vein is uncovered in the second of these three Sonatinas - 'Haydnesque' is the pianist's apt description in his scholarly sleeve notes. Though one is sometimes tempted to feel that Sibelius's piano writing stands in the same relation to his orchestral writing as does that of Elgar to his, these Sonatinas probe more deeply than mere salon music, and it is good to have them on record as they require listening to more closely.

Joseph Diamond's Life Story With the release of Not Your Typical New Yorker, joseph Diamond pianist, composer, producer sees the realization of a longheld dream. http://www.josephdiamond.com/bio.html
Extractions: At the W.C. Handy Festival in 1997 To describe Joseph Diamond merely as a pianist, composer, and producer is to present an image that is far too narrow. It's true that his pianistic abilities run into the virtuosic range, which is not surprising given his jazz and classical pedigree: daily childhood studies with his mother, jazz explorations in high school with George Handy, trial-by-fire in the University of Miami music department, and further college study with jazz icons such as Jackie McLean, Nat Reeves, and James Williams, as well as the late Jaki Byard and Walter Bishop, Jr. It's possible to trace still other significant influences on Joseph's musicianship by following the path of his lengthy tours on Caribbean cruise ships and Broadway road productions, as well as the years he spent mastering Latin piano styles at New York's Boy's Harbor, a legendary hotbed of Latin music activity. But knowing all this still won't prepare you for the impact Joseph's music may have on you when you hear it. Elements of all these influences come in and out of his compositions, but it's Joseph's ingenuity and creativity - okay, his chops, too - that make each tune a self-contained world of clever orchestration, beguiling melody, and burning grooves, unlike any you've heard before. The lines between tradition and innovation are blurred in Joseph's world, though he hasn't penned a tune yet that wasn't true to the integrity of the styles embodied in it. Live or on disc, Joseph's music is fresh and engaging.

Murder, Inc. sounds a little like outtakes from the Tijuana strip-joint "source music" in Mancini's great score to Orson Welles' "Touch of Evil." In fact, there's enough of a rocking sax combo feel to Murder, Inc. that Shad reissued it a few years later as Surf PartyMy Pad by "The Wedges" in an attempt to cash in on the surf music craze. (Time Records soon went under for the third time, however, to resurface as Mainstream). Joseph studied piano with Adele Marcus and was enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War Two, where he served in a fleet band. After the war, he was hired by Tommy Dorsey, but he left the band within a year to settle in New York City. Lena Horne's husband and musical director, Lennie Hayton, hired Joseph as Horne's pianist and main accompanist for a very successful club act, and from that gig, Joseph became acquainted with another singer, Felicia Sanders, whom he later married. Although he recorded several albums in addition to Murder, Inc.
