He had already composed a good deal of music, but none of it had made its mark in the musical world. In Froissart , however the authentic Elgarian style and technique begin unmistakably to appear. According to his lifelong custom Elgar headed his score with a motto, this time from Keats; When chivalry Lifted up her lance on high. HMV OALP 1379 Chopin Waltz No. 5 in A flat major, Op. 42 Dinu Lipatti His last piano recital, 16 th September 1950 In the last six years of his life, Lipatti was diagnosed with leukaemia. Yet his drive did not diminish and his playing never suffered. There were even plans for a concert tour in America, but relapses caused it to be cancelled. In his last year, his illness was kept at bay temporarily with a new drug, cortisone - the cost of which devoted friends like Menuhin, Munch and Stravinsky contributed no small amounts. It was during this remission that Lipatti, much against the advice of his doctors, decided to honour his concert engagement and played his final recital at Besacon on 16 Sept. Unfortunately, the leukaemia returned; Lipatti finally succumbed and, as all his biographers would write, died a painful death in Geneva on 2 December 1950, at the tragically young age of 33.

While they should probably be in some sort of order be it chronological or alphabetical, they aren't. Sorry. :-) I'm workin' on it. As well as music, there are a few works included that discuss technique for various instruments such as violin, recorder, and guitar. Several of these discuss the techniques for fretting and fingering, however, and seem not to address strumming or bowing with the left hand. You'll have to read them yourself to determine the situation. Read this to learn what I think about CyberNOT not banning my page. MUSIC SCORE

Now I sometimes wish I'd taken up a string instrument, although playing the piano means I now get to play chamber music with my parents, which is fun.

Extractions: George Enescu was one of the most prodigiously gifted musicians of the twentieth century: a great violinist and composer, a distinguished conductor, an accomplished pianist, able cellist and a famous violin teacher who numbered Christian Ferras, Arthur Grumiaux and Yehudi Menuhin among his pupils. His musical memory was phenomenal, a fact that contributed to the loss of some of his own works which he composed but never wrote down. He studied at the Vienna Conservatory and in Paris with Massenet, Fauré, and others. He composed three symphonies; chamber music; an opera, Oedipe (Paris, 1936); and other orchestral music, notably two popular Romanian Rhapsodies. Extractions: Dinu Lipatti (1917-1950) "Almost 40 years after his death from leukaemia at the tragically early age of 33, the aura of saintliness which surrounded Lipatti in life clings, undiminished, to his memory. Born in Romania, to parents noth wealthy and musical, Lipatti began playing the piano while still in infancy and made his public debut, as both pianist and composer atthe age of four. After taking second prize at the Vienna Piano Competition in 1934 (a misscarrige of artstic justice which cause Alfred Cortot to dissocaiete himself from the jury), Lipatti moved to Paris, where his mentors included Cortot, Charles Munch(conducting), Paul Dukas (composition) and Nadia Boulanger. With concerts in Germany, Italy and Paris (wherr Poulenc discerned in him a "divine spirituality") Lipatti's fame as a performer spread rapidly. There was a great deal more to Lipatti's art than "divine spirituality". There was also charm, pathos and intellectual power, a breathtaking rhythmic energy combined with an almost inhuman control (his "Alborada" is not only unsurpassed but unequaled) and a profound awareness of pianistic colors" Jeremy Siepmann

Answer: The famous pianist/composer was Frederic Francois Chopin Waltz in D flat major, op. 64, no. 1 is nicknamed the "Minute Waltz" because of its short length.
