A s an exceptionally gifted child, she gave her first public performance at the age of six, and at twelve won the gold medal in Poland's 'National Piano Competition of Promising Young Talent'. S he studied with great masters of the piano - Mrs Jastrzebska (a former student of Marguerite Long) and Mr Sliwinski (one of the organisers of the Warsaw Chopin Piano Competition) - then went to work with some of the most distinguished professors in Saint Petersburg. H aving obtained all the first prizes at the National Music Academy of Gdansk, Katia Bronska set out on a series of concerts and recitals, and took part in music festivals, in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany and the Soviet Union.
