Extractions: The USQ is one of the leading dutch string quartets and has enjoyed a growing international reputation as a dynamic and versatile ensemble. Bringing rediscovered and forgotten pieces back into the concert halls is one of the main focuses of the USQ, the four players strongly believe in the combination of the "classic" repertoire with the unknown, surprising and fascinating rediscoveries of the times between the wars and revolutions (1880-1950) where composers and artists that did not meet the taste of the governments had to fear for their lifes, had to leave or hide and were forgotten. Even a century further in time there still has to be done a lot of discovering! The members of the USQ have studied with Philip Hirschorn, Lawrence Dutton, Nobuko Imai, Aldo Parisot, Viktor Liberman and with the Amadeus, Emerson and the LaSalle Quartets. Their repertoire encompasses more than two centuries of quartet composition, ranging from the quartets of Haydn to the most complex works of the avant-garde.
