Trimble is a junk scientist.
Did I read the same book?
Debunked! Sad. "Litigation neurosis" is an idea straight out of the insurance industry's policy manual of how to avoid paying legitimate claims. It is a concept that has been debunked over and over again in the medical literature.
Completely Nonsensical I asked him why hekept this book.He said, "So that I know what the enemy is going tocome after me with".He continued, "I used to believe thisstuff. Now I know it's B.S.". Indeed, there is ABSOLUTELY noevidence in the medical literature to support the notion of"litigation neurosis" after whiplash injuries. They are all tooreal, with an estimated 3 million persons injured in low-speed rear-impactcollisions each year (National Safety Council, Insurance Institute forHighway Safety, National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration,National Auto Crash Sampling System). Most injuries occur at speeds of6-12 mph.It is interesting that damage thresholds to vehicles occur at8-12 mph (delta V of struck vehicle). That means that in the vast majorityof cases, people are injured with little or no damage to theircars. Surprised? Then the auto insurance lawyers have done an excellentjob fooling you.If you're on a jury for one of these cases, be fooled nolonger.Don't assume you're an expert if you haven't read theliterature. Yet that's what this silly little book has done, feigningexpertise, avoiding the medical research on the topic.Does the authorreally want to say that traumatic brain-injured patients from whiplashaccidents are simply "neurotic"?What a shameful thing topromote. And shameful that the auto insurance industry lawyers still usethis book in court. ...
