To Be Me: Understanding What It's Like to Have Asperger's Syndrome
I was a little disapointed in this purchase.At a cost of $30 it really was not what I was hoping for.It seemed overly simplified and did not really give much information on the subject.I was hoping for a resource I could send to camp with my son this summer that would not be too long and in depth with the medical termonology, but would be descriptive and helpful to the camp councelor and director.I had hoped for a little more description of some of the comon behaviors and why these kids do the things that they do, and some suggestions for how to help.

Regarding young children
I purchased this for the parents of my 15 year old grandson.The book is for parents with young children and is not appropriate for teenagers.

Excellent and compassionate overview.
I am the mother of a child with Asperger's Syndrome, and this was the first book I read about the subject after he received that diagnosis.It is an excellent and informative read. Each chapter begins with an illustrative story about different individual children with Asperger's, underscoring specific social, emotional and learning "hurdles" that individuals with Asperger's individually face.The authors then provide a detailed, well-supported and scientific explanation for the behavior (their bibliography is impressive) and present clear-cut, parent AND child friendly strategies for how to help the child cope and overcome the hurdle. What I was most grateful for was the very positive and assured tone of the book, which, by providing logical and accessible solutions to many of the difficulties we had been facing, and following their suggestions through to their logical end, gave me confidence that I was able to take steps to ensure my child achieved his greatest potential.

My only criticism is the fact that it barely touches on homeschooling as a real option and all the educational strategies focused on the traditional classroom setting (though they can ALL be easily adapted to a homeschool environment), but this could be because it's several years old and the authors were not aware that, due to their unique educational, sensory and emotional needs, children with Asperger's were the most likely to be homeschooled of their special education peers. I'm sure that the authors will address this in later editions, and this omission is really hardly a flaw, so good is the rest of the information found in this book.

It's titled "Asperger's Syndrome and Your Child: A Parent's Guide," but the reality is, I have given this book to several relatives who did not really believe my child was in the autism spectrum because "he didn't act like Rainman" and it helped them too. Teachers, coaches and other caregivers of children with Asperger's would benefit greatly from the advice and strategies found within its covers.

This book is informative, and well-researched, and offers dozens upon dozens of generalized as well as specific strategies for families coping with Asperger's.But marked by a warm conversational style and positivity in its approach to AS at all times, it is above all a labor of love. =)

VERY GOOD and EXTREMELY HELPFUL BOOK!
I am an adult "aspie" living in Los Angeles, CA.I was never diagnosed with AS until I finally moved to California.I always knew that I was different than my peers, but never knew why.I had great difficulty making friends growing up too.I was always being regarded as being freak", "retard", "negative" ect. I read this book and will recommend any parent who has a child with AS, READ THIS BOOK and share it with others you know or are close to.I also recommend that you give the educational hints to your child's teacher.I had to suffer growing up and I learned by my own mistakes, but it was HELL!I wish that I had learned that I had Asperger's Syndrome when I was much younger.It's really a shame that there are critics who think that people make up this condition.It's real folks, and I'm living proof that it exists.I lived in South Texas where they think the only disabilities are the kind that are the most severe.They don't believe that a person with a college degree can have autism.

Things I Never Knew
I purchased this book simply because I know Ashley.I have watched her grow up and have agonized with every thing she has gone through.This book is an eye opener to what she really felt that I never knew about.She is a wonderful young lady who has pursued a college education virtually on her own even with having Aspberger'e.She graduates this spring with two degrees after much hard work.She has been a joy to know.Haven't read the book yet, but will in the near future.I am glad to see that I could purchase it from Amazon.com. ... What a dreadful, hopeless book
If you are in a relationship with an aspie and you want out, save your money and just leave. There is no shame in knowing what is good for you and doing it. Motivating yourself to leave is the only use for this book. The book is depressing and scary. It doesn't present any useful ways of enriching and deepening your relationship with the aspie you are living with, but it provides many hope-squashing stories and vignettes, most hopeless and depressing being Ms. Jacobs' relationship with "Danny Wheeler." I hope that's not his real name because using it would be a major privacy violation.

Speaking of violations, there are many in this book. I don't pretend to be a psychologist, as Ms. Jacobs' does, but I know poor personal boundaries when they are repeatedly waved across my vision. Paraphrasing just one example - I bought Danny a new suit and he trashed it. Guess what? When you bought the suit and gave it to him - it's his suit! Get some boundaries! Without extraordinary personal boundaries, there is no hope for living with your aspie. Maybe that's a good message from this book, though presented in abstentia.

The world has too few good books on enjoying a satisfying relationship with an aspie. To have this poison masquerading as one, even with a forward by Tony Attwood, is a travesty.

Stay away from this trash.

Loving Mr Spock is easy when you speak the language!
This fantastic very informative read was well written and referenced.There are a number of very useful assessment tools in this book and a vast amount of very helpful information for those Aspies without a formal diagnosis (my partner being one of them). An essential guide and support for any one in a relationship with someone who has Asperger's Syndrome traits.

Heartfelt and very real book on Aspergers
This book was brilliant in it's clearness right from the start on Aspergers and the way it manifests in people.Right from the beginning - I found myself going ... yes, that's my ex, and that, and that. Having someone else so clearly identify things was amazing.It is written from the perspective of someone who fell in love with someone with Aspergers and the things that happened. It helped me enormously understand 3 of my ex's who are on different levels with Aspergers. And 2 of whom I suspected. But my last one I was deeply baffled by for a long time until I had an inkling about Aspergers.

Like the writer of this book.I am also involved in psychology.But found it just baffling at times WHAT was actually going on.Things didn't fit together.I spent a long time puzzling over various things that just didn't gel on some level with my last man.'One of these things does not go with the other'.A kind and caring man in many ways which yes, was one of the big attractions to him in the first place as others have also noted.

But when faced with me standing there with tears streaming down my cheeks. Told me to 'have a nice day'.In retrospect - I can see he knew he needed to say something 'nice' to make me feel better.So came up with a phrase that in his mind went with saying something nice.Totally inappropriate and yet funny in retrospect.But utterly unbelievable at the time it happened.Even when I said.I am standing here with tears streaming down my cheeks.Do you think I'm going to have a nice day? The confusion was very evident.It just didn't all go together for him.He'd been saying something he knew was 'nice'.Why didn't that work? Why did I have a problem with that?

This book I read cover to cover in one sitting.It covers so many things about Aspergers and from a non-clinical but still very informative viewpoint. I understood my whole relationship with my ex from start to finish with this book.It all just fell into place. A truly amazing book that is told with love I feel.Thank you.

The Minority
Looking at other reviews I seem to be the only person who doesn't like this book very much. I think that is mostly because it just isn't the sort of story I enjoy or identify with, and that may be partly because I have AS myself... I don't know. I think a lot of people would enjoy this book though, particularly women who have experienced failed relationships with AS men and who would identify with the author and may find it reassuring that the break down of the relationship was about mutual incompatibility rather than any failing on their part. However, I wouldn't recommend this as the first or only book you read on Asperger's Syndrome. This is just one person's story told from a specific perspective. It's good for what it is but I feel uncomfortable with the idea of people forming opinions about someone like me based solely upon it.

Cracking insights into a misunderstood world.
Like the book "Curious Incident", this text explores the nature of relationships with Asperger Syndrome "differently wired", people, as Jacobs describes them. In this book the relationship is real and the Authors own love affair with an erratic, loving, unfathomable and self destructive man.
It is written with eloquence and enormmous emotion and combines clinical information with an engaging and difficult story. This book should be essential clinical/psychological/psychiatric training material but it is also so much more than a reference text for unintiated clinicians. It is also a beautifully written and difficult story and while Jacobs tells you frankly of her pain it seems her ultimate task is to understand the lover who nearly destroyed her and himself and to raise our understanding of these castigated and misunderstood people. A bummer
I am an AS female, in a long term relationship with an NT partner, and found this book to be generally a bummer.It is full of Asperger-specific information, that's for sure, all of it depressing, in a "hardwired" sort of way, and none of it followed up with an exit strategy.I decided about a third of the way through that the insight was not worth the depression it was giving me.My therapist supported me in this assessment and suggested Aston's more recent Couples Workbook, which I have just started, but which looks like it incorporates the "best of" material from AIL and does include therapeutic strategies too.

I also decided not to read any more AS books that were published before 2005, since the neurological information is that recent.Seems like everything earlier is based on speculation and urban legend, including Aspergers in Love.

Aspergers In Love
Amazing!This book was as if she captured my entire failed dating and marriage issues.I regret that I didn't read this earlier.I am hopeful that one day someone would be willing to read this and join me in this journey.

Not the best
This book offers some examples of problems that a therapist has seen inclients. I found some of her examples (without enough explanations) calloused and insulting to AS people (and I'm NT). It offers little to any REAL advice about how to make a relationship between an NT/AS person work or even how to truly understand your partner.

If you're the NT side of an NT/AS relationship, I'd recommend "Asperger Syndrome and Long-Term Relationships" which was written WITH LOVE by an NT woman who is actually married to a man with AS.

Read with a Grain of Salt Held Firmly in Hand
I am an adult female with Asperger's Syndrome.When my relationship started demonstrating obvious issues with communication, I wanted to get a good idea of how the Asperger's Syndrome might be affecting it.This book was recommended, so I picked it up.On the positive, the book is packed with information and ideas on where a relationship might break down.As other reviews have said, it IS thought provoking and insightful.

However, that said, I was actually quite disappointed with the book. The book is not critical of the AS individual but the tone of the writing stops just shy of that and most of all, this book doesn't seem applicable at all to a relationship between an AS female and anyone NT or otherwise.

There is a tone that NT people sometimes take when referring to the behavior of a person with AS.It's a mixture of the condescending 'poor AS person, they don't know how to feel properly' and a bit of clinical detachment.I was dismayed to find the author writing with that tone. So while the NT reading it might feel like they've found a source that gives voice to what they are experiencing, it (ironically) does little to foster actual empathy with the AS person and their actions.As a woman with AS, who was looking for valuable input, I was really put off by it.

I made it through most of the book with a really puzzled look on my face looking for that one paragraph that would make me able to relate - REALLY relate to the AS traits she describes.And then I got to the ONE chapter about AS Women in the back of the book - and EUREKA!I was able to relate to this chapter!At the beginning of this chapter about AS Women, there is a tiny explanation about how writing the book using the words 'AS Male' simply made the book more comprehensible.But really?Because I could relate to so much of that one chapter and so little of the rest of the book, I wonder, truly, how much of the rest of the book even applies to a majority of women with AS.And while, perhaps AS women just wasn't the focus of the book, it's billed as a book about being in a relationship with AS individuals in general - and it's not.It's actually a book about relationships between an AS Male and an NT Female with a footnote about AS Women.

PS : Asperger's has an apostrophe in it... a possessive noun in order to denote the person who is credited with first studying the syndrome.For an author who is credited as being 'uniquely placed to write this book', you'd think the title of the book would be spelled correctly.

Best book I've found on AS yet
Having been diagnosed with AS I have been reading many books on the subject.I found this one the best so far.My wife also found the book beneficial and it has helped us to understand why we see things differently in some situations and how this impacts on our interactions. ... Read more

Beyond Wonderful

Wonderful Insight - Great Resource and Heartfelt Read
I just received this book which I have been meaning to buy for a while. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. Mr. Shore did a great job not only taking us through his life's journey through autism, but also sidelining it with various observations. I am always amazed at those who ventured on the autism spectrum before the word autism was even recognized by many people. Reading books written by those with autism offer such wonderful insight and perspective. I highly recommend this book for parents who are trying to better understand their child with AS as well as those with AS who are navigating high school and/or college futures. There are some great suggestions and ideas.

I especially like how Mr. Shore talked about many of the jobs he held and why he succeeded or what he learned from his not so successful job situations. I think having a supplemental book on this subject alone would be very worthwhile...especially if it came from a variety of viewpoints. Hmmm.

This articulate man gives us an autobiographical view at the difficulties faced as a person with high-functioning autism or Asperger's Syndrome grows up and tries to join the working world. It is tough, and he is often misunderstood, yet he very intelligent and has a great deal to offer the world. Although he will always have his "social skills" disability, it is heartening that he is now happily married and has found a career path.

Beyond the wall
Very interesting to read first hand what it is like to live with autism.The author's accomplishments are amazing, but also his awareness of his limitations. A good book to learn more about this condition, also easy and enjoyable reading.

My Opinion
I got 3/4 way through and was a bit disapointed the book really just takes you through thier journey in thier marriage, not a hole lot of coping tips more of story not a self help book I felt.

Live with AS or cure it
My ex-husband and my son have/had asperger's syndrome. I say had because after we divorced, I discovered a book "Enzymes for Autism" that was about intestinal yeast overgrowth and leaky gut syndrome and used this info to cure my son. Yeast interferes with protein building and causes protein deficiency which causes over 600 mild symptoms including neurological symptoms. Leaky gut causes inflammation from foreign bodies leaking into your body from the intestines which causes more chronic symptoms, over 5,000. It took 6 weeks of herbal yeast cleansing and probiotics, then only probiotics for 2 more months to fix the problem. My son's AS, OCD, anxiety and tourettes disappeared, along with allergies and asthma. My ex is un-cooperative, so I don't think he will ever get relief, but he is happy regardless.

The yeast epidemic and heavy metal toxicity was brought about by the severe lowering of our iodine levels in food supplementation from 1960 through the 1970s. Iodine deficiency is the cause of our health epidemic! After the yeast cleanse, my son got his symptoms back because he was eating too much sugar and I had to do it again. When I looked around for heavy metal detoxing info, a natural health counselor told me that iodine therapy was the best way to detox. So, everyone in the family got iodine fulfillment therapy. This summer, my son was dragging around and I realized he had yeast overgrowth again from stress of moving, but no AS symptoms because the iodine therapy successfully got rid of the mercury.

Now I'm working on alkalizing all of us!

Not Enough Depth.No Help.
There are a lot of books out there on this subject.Perhaps I rated this one only "fair" because my Asperger marriage isn't quite this amicable and I was looking for more help.

Written by a school teacher with truth and pride
Katrin is a wonderful wife.They were married for 17 years when she first realized the cause of Galvin's issues at age 37.

With the estimated 80% divorce rate in AS marriages, her story of her own life can be useful.It isn't perfect, it isn't going to match all other couples, and you may not agree with all her conclusions and answers.

yet that's the greatness of the book.it is HER STORY, and she tells it with pride in herself and her partner.

I can see how this could be helpful, but beware
I walked away from this book feeling depressed and despondent, feeling I'd tried most of these things.Her definition of success is my definition of mere survival within my relationship with an Aspie, and that only with extended periods where I have to completely lose myself in the support role.If you are where I am in life, this is not the book for you. ... I Finally Got It!
I think I found the gist of the book at last, although nothing came to my mind just after reading all through. Dr. Ritvo set an inspiring example of mild/high functioning autism(M/HFA) i.e., the famous movie, Rain Man, which really cracked me up! Raymond with M/HFA stopped in the middle of the intersection when he saw the sign, "DON'T WALK". The point is he took the sign literally, but didn't understand the meaning. Of course, for typical people, this WAS a real disaster which caused road rage. I have seen Rain Man once, but I felt as if it had nothing to do with me. I Finally Got It!
I think I found the gist of the book at last, although nothing came to my mind just after reading all through. Dr. Ritvo set an inspiring example of mild/high functioning autism(M/HFA) i.e., the famous movie, Rain Man, which really cracked me up! Raymond with M/HFA stopped in the middle of the intersection when he saw the sign, "DON'T WALK". The point is he took the sign literally, but didn't understand the meaning. Of course, for typical people, this WAS a real disaster which caused road rage. I have seen Rain Man once, but I felt as if it had nothing to do with me. Well, not surprisingly at this price I am the first reviewer.The book was lent to me by a psychiatrist who had it on loan from a library.This is the onlymedical textbookon Aspergers, written for psychiatrists but it is packed full of stuff that is not covered anywhere else.Particularly the sections on neuropathology and etiology.It got a very positive review in the NEw England Journal of Medicine in 2009 which it deserved.

They shouldpublish this in paperback and market it for the public - it is a much more interesting read than any of the popular texts.You get the whole translation of Asperger's seminal paper on Fritz V (translated and commentated on by Uta Frith).The editor/ author has an interesting slant on overlap with schitzophrenia's negative symptoms and schitzoid personality that is notdiscussed by any mainstream psychologists.There is a fantastic chapter on concomitant morbidities by Gillberg.In fact the worst chapter is the first - Michael Fitzgerald cites himself an awful lot considering the title is history and first descriptions.He must be hoping to be part of the history section.....There is a very interesting review of all medication used in ASD - there are so few studies that they had to include autism and AS and the numbers are very small but this is compulsory reading if you are thinking of medication for a child on the spectrum.

I would have liked to have read more on treatment of overlapping OCD - how to adapt CBT for an Asperger way of thinking etc.There is a tiny section on education and the problems thereof - basically saying that you need an exceptional teacher to deal with AS in mainstream.No arguments from parents there.

Now I want to know who the final author (with AS) - John Smith Boswell is.

Major Disappointment
Mostly in life you get what you pay for, so I didn't cringe too much at the price tag for this book.However, I cringed all the way through the book as all the glaring typos throughout the book.I can overlook typos and even an occasional misused word (i.e., "than" being used repetitively instead of "then" in a paragraph), but the overall content was both repetitive (the EXACT same paragraphs copied and pasted in multiple sections) and often contradictory in nature.

Please don't waste your money on anything from this author.You will glean just as much information on the subject from a Google search on the topic.

not impressed
The price of this book was quite high. I expected an encyclopedia of information for hte price. It's very short and has very little information in it.And the information is repeated several times. There are also many spelling errors in the book which makes me question if this was published at home and if so, were any of the "facts" ckecked for accuracy or is it all this man's opinions and what he's read on the internet (which isn't always true believe it or not). In all I was VERY disappointed with this book and feel like I got taken for a sucker for paying that much for it. All in all I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Homeopathy for our children
I found this book encouraging for parents who have children with these diagnoses.As a lay-homeopath the case studies were insightful.Parents need to be aware that a trained homeopath is best at treating their family member.

The book gives hope to those looking for help in a sadly lacking sea of treatments, especially those looking for real results without harmful drugs.

Please read of you have a child with behavior issues
Any parent that is dealing with behavior issues should read this book or other ones by these authors. They have great descriptions of various remedies within the context of the case studies presented. I have recommended this book many times to family members that have just had a child diagnosed with autism of any kind. It clearly presents how a homeopath thinks and what can be expected from giving the correct remedy.

It will not tell you what your child will need. You should have a classical homeopath help you with that decision.

Moderately interesting
This is a mildly interesting book. The majority of the book covers case studies of children on the spectrum. The authors do a good job of describing the children, their challenges, and their special gifts. Almost all of the children they describe are verbal and high functioning. They then give a brief description of the homeopathic remedy they prescribed and why. They prescribe one remedy to be given occasionally, say maybe 3 times a year, but that could vary.

They do not unfortunately, tell the potency, which I absolutely hate. Potency is one of the most controversial aspects of homeopathy. You really can't evaluate a protocol without knowing what potencies they use and how they select it.

They then go on to describe how the child improved after the remedy. On a few occasions they had to prescribe a different remedy. That is normal. I was actually surprised at how rarely they had to do so.

They acknowledge the role vaccines play in autism just a tiny bit, but appear to believe that genetics and other environmental insults are more important. It is hard for me to understand how a homeopath and a naturopath can be so blind to vaccine induced autism.

They don't do any homeopathic vaccine clearing, which granted is just catching on in this country, but none the less, very important.

So the description of the children was interesting in the beginning, but I eventually got bored with it. I did enjoy reading their selection of remedies, but felt the book lacked the key detail of potency.

Homeopathic guide for ASD
Homeopathy is often mentioned in alternative treatments for ASD and autism, but usually it's only glancingly mentioned.

This book fills in more detail and understanding to what Homeopathy is and how it specifically relates to these special needs children. Most of the book is filled with sample cases (some actual cases and some that are amalgams of different cases used to illustrate specific tendencies). A couple of times, I found myself crying because I related to the experiences that the parents and children have. . .and other cases which, although not applicable to my family, were interesting to read.

I appreciated that it wasn't preachy. It takes into consideration the enormous exhaustion experienced by parents of high-needs children, and the ways that subtle (and not-so-subtle) family dynamics often shift when one or two family members find balance within themselves.

Read a Library Copy, But Had to Buy Two Copies for Home and School!
After wandering alone without help, there's been a large number of books on Asperger's released over the last 5-10 years. That's a blessing, but it's hard to know if you'll get a simple book, a clinically-written textbook or a good all-round guide.

I place this book in the category of a "good all-around guide" that helped me understand my children better and change how I see their behavior to a POV through their eyes. I got some excellent tips that not only helped me, but worked for my son's teacher immediately. I love that Dr. La Brie Norall has such extensive, real-life experience in working with Aspies on a practical level and not as study participants under a microscope.

I initially read this book from the library, but I am buying two copies: one for home and one for my son's school. My son's teacher already said she'd be interested to read it, and will send the book along to his next teacher as well.

I never received this book!!
I am very disappointed, my address was not changed on time,the book was sent, returned, and I was charged for a book I did not receive!! I have contacted the seller and Amazon several times to receive a refund OR mail me the book and I will pay AGAIN the cost of postage. The company has my new address. I changed it within 5 min. of ordering and they said it was too late!?? I really wanted this book!! Asperger Syndrome: What Teachers Need to Know presents an immediate outline pertaining to what parents and teachers may to expect when dealing with children having Asperger Syndrome.

Children having the syndrome may show evidence of a deficiency of empathy, may be immature, inappropriate or present one sided interaction. These children may have little to no capacity for forming friendships, may present sophistic, or recurring speech, have meager nonverbal communication, concentrated fascination for certain subjects, and may have ungainly or poorly coordinated movements in addition to odd postures.

The chapter entitled What is Asperger Syndrome presents amplification regarding what Asperger is, and how it may be characterized in kids who have the Syndrome. At times Asperger is referred to or thought of as high functioning autism. Asperger Syndrome presents Social Interaction, Communication, Imagination and Sensory Sensitivity complexities.

Along with listing many of the problem areas exhibited by kids having Asperger Syndrome, Writer Winter also suggests many positive traits these kids also exhibit including honesty, reliability, dedication and determination.

Chapter two in particular addresses symptoms children having the syndrome may present, however it is well to bear in mind that no two subjects present exactly the same set of symptoms. In general these children will not comprehend why people lie, will say precisely what they think with no regard to situation or feelings of those spoken to and will exhibit intense loyalty.

Children having Asperger are frequently imaginative, often have out of the ordinary interest bordering on enthrallment to fixation, benefit from routine, often have dilemma when trying to read societal cues or body language in others, exhibit high stress levels, tire more easily than others, have trouble when expressing or modulating emotions and have trouble reading other people's emotions. These children often have a powerful personal moral code coupled with a total sense of justice, often suppose that everyone believes unerringly as he does, have little consciousness that his words or behaviors are hurting others and will often deem that he is absolutely right no matter evidence to the contrary.

On an intellectual level these children are inclined toward literal thinking and often miss implied meaning, have more trouble than peers when trying to sequence, and recollect more easily what is seen rather than what is said. Children having Asperger may often have short term auditory memory loss, are regularly able to remember and list large amounts of true-life data, are less perceptive than are many others, and often have trouble thinking through how specific outcomes may arise.

Kids having Asperger often have difficulty generalizing, find ambiguity objectionable, will not often want to make any attempt should even possibility of mistake present itself, often have trouble with handwriting, fine motor skills are more difficult.

Writer Winter is a primary teacher and tenders proposals for classroom strategies as well as those for helping kids develop social skills, guiding kids on playground, how para professionals can be used for helping kids with severe problems, who in school needs to know this child has the syndrome.

Winter discusses homework and whether it should be offered for these kids, how kids having Asperger can be aided with study habits, what should happen before the child changes class or school, and qualifications needed for teaching the child and how to gain more knowledge concerning Asperger.

Writer Winter elucidates Asperger's characteristics obviously and plainly, without relying on surface jargon. I like that affirmative characteristics of children with Asperger's are presented along with the more troublesome, less positive ones.

I have both taught kids having Asperger, and have raised a child who presents many of the characteristics. My own child is old enough that autism and Asperger were not terms used much. He was thought simply to be a strong willed child.

Asperger Syndrome: What Teachers Need to Know offers a fast reading precis of behaviors teachers may see exhibited in the classroom by children having Asperger's, and proffers some stratagem for use when working with kids having those characteristics.

Because we see more and more children with definable issues in the classroom today, understanding of Asperger Syndrome has increased as has recognition for many of the other attendant syndromes, conditions and behaviors children may present. Most teachers I know have far more expertise for and understanding of many conditions unheard of when first I began teaching.

Asperger Syndrome What Teachers Need to Know provides a synopsis of current information regarding AS. Happy to recommend.

The best book for Asperger's Adults ever written
This book was one that I have been needing to be able to read for two years. I was diagnosed with Asperger's at age twenty eight and at that time there was nothing out there to help me understand why everything was so confusing to me about Asperger's. I have been struggling for years to help me figure out why it has been so hard for me to communicate with people and thanks to this book I now understand, and can help keep myself from getting so frustrated in situations that make me really nervous.

A Must To Know the Specifics on Asperger's
I bet Thriving In Adulthood with Asperger's Syndrome is reader-friendly for those who deal with Aspergians(people with Asperger's). I even feel as if I were conversing with Craig Kendall when reading this. In most cases, neurotypicals(NTs) often feel frustrated when dealing with Aspergians because of the huge gap between each other, and vice versa. He explains very clearly why that happens and how to cope with difficulties they face. In this book he seldom uses technical jargons although this book is mainly for adult Aspergians. He might find it very counterproductive to use too many psychological terms because Asperger's(AS) itself is such a very complicated disorder. On top of that, he tells us about AS from various points of views, which can lead to our deeper understandings on AS. Personally I would like to recommend this easy-read book especially to NTs struggling to deal with AS people. This can help them clear up any stressful feelings they have had in their lives. Besides, I suppose they will eventually be nicer to Aspergians once they get grips with this book. Of course, this book is indispensable for hidden AS adults(adult Aspergians who aren't officially diagnosed yet) as well as the ones already diagnosed. Both NTs and Aspergians are more likely to discover something new about AS by eliminating their hazy feelings, if they read this book.

Being an adult with Asperger's Syndrome, I was very excited to read this book. Craig Kendall has put together a very comprehensive book that is easy to read and understand. I can't begin to name the ways it has and will improve my life.
