Aaron Rosand is an internationally acclaimed concert violinist whose musical career spans more than 60 years on three continents. One of greatest living virtuoso violinists trained in the classic 19th century romantic style, Aaron Rosand is 73 years old and still going strong on the international classical music circuit. His latest CD is the Sibelius and Khachaturian violin concertos, produced and released by Vox Music Group in November 2000. We feel it is one of his finest. Click here for the press release. Media coverage for this release includes:
Accomplishments
Prior to acquiring the services of The Terpin Group, Aaron Rosand was widely regarded as one of America's best-kept secrets in classical music. Although Rosand's biography and discography featured more than 60 years of accomplishments as an international master violinist, he was more popular in Europe and Asia than in his native homeland. Since joining forces with The Terpin Group in November of 2000, Rosand's popularity in the U.S. has reaped many rewards from the agency's proactive PR program, which garnered more than 100 million media impressions by mid-February 2001. Rosand's recent CD release and living-legend status have been featured in a variety of mainstream media outlets, including the Los Angeles Times , Amazon.com

Gramophone Magazine , the world's oldest and most important classical record review magazine, now features a regular Internet column entitled Webwatch, Music lovers' guide to all that's new on the web . We were thrilled when in the September, 2001 issue they lauded the website of virtuoso violinist Aaron Rosand, a website designed, developed and maintained by LMSWebdesign: "Experimentation is part of a musician's daily activity, so, not surprisingly, many are experimenting with websites that do more than promote. Blending personal involvement with interactivity, artist-led websites have a human touch while offering worthwhile entertainment - virtues that often elude those run by managers or record labels. "Violinist Aaron Rosand, celebrated by both conoisseurs of virtuosity and general listeners, maintains a subtantial site at www.aaronrosand.com . Rosand has numerous CDs on budget label Vox and is a community- building pioneer with a penchant for marketing his own downloadable recordings on sites like MP3.com

Aaron Rosand carries love of music
throughout his life by Raymond Rosand J ust prior to the new millennium, and committed to be in Scotland for the turn of the century, Aaron Rosand was in Malaysia recording the Sibelius and Khachaturian violin concertos. Rosand, one of the century's most highly regarded violinists, is my brother. He recently celebrated his seventy-third birthday, and his artistry seems only to increase with age. Last year he recorded the popular Beethoven Violin Concerto in Monte Carlo. Nearly every violinist has recorded this work, but critic Robert Maxham wrote in Fanfare that Aaron's "-is the very best". Aaron Rosand could record anywhere in the world, so why did he choose Malaysia for his latest disc? First, the musicianship in Asia is first-class, and Asia is coming to play an ever more important role in classical music. Second, Aaron has a particular affinity for that part of the world. Aaron's love affair with Asia began shortly after VJ Day. I recall a day in the Spring of 1946, following World War ll, when Aaron came home to Chicago, still in uniform. He had just completed a USO tour of the Philippines, Japan and Korea. The war with Japan had recently ended and Aaron was eager to build bridges of peace the only way he knew how, with his violin. He was fascinated by Asia. It was obvious to me that Asia would become a major portion of Aaron's life. He now shares it with his beautiful wife Monica Woo, who was born in Hong Kong.

Aaron Rosand
Among the world's outstanding violinists is Aaron Rosand, whose great art has left audiences spellbound in the United States, Europe and other parts of the world. Acclaimed as one of the premier violinists of today, Aaron Rosand carries on the traditions of two distinguished schools of violin playing. Born in Indiana of a Russian mother and Polish father, Rosand studied with Leon Sametini, a disciple of Eugene Ysaye, and the famed Efrem Zimbalist, a student of the legendary Leopold Auer.
Rosand spent his formative years in Chicago, and gave his recital debut at the Chicago Opera House at the age of nine. The following year the young prodigy made his orchestral debut performing the Mendelssohn Concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Frederick Stock. Since then Rosand has appeared with the major American and European orchestras under such distinguished conductors as Rostropovich, Reiner, Kondrashin, Steinberg, Leinsdorf, Bernstein, Skrowaczewski, Slatkin, Maazel and Blomstedt.
Rosand has recorded extensively throughout his career. In addition to the complete Beethoven and Bach sonatas, he has recorded numerous concertos, specializing in 19th-century Romantic masterpieces. His recordings of concertos as well as shorter works with orchestra by Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Lalo, Saint-Saens, Chausson, Wieniawski, Rimsky-Korsakov, Sarasate and Ysaye have been critically acclaimed, and he made the premier recordings of concertos by Joachim, Hubay, Ernst, Arensky and Godard, as well as the complete Humoresques by Sibelius.

The Kochanski del Gesù has been the faithful companion of Aaron Rosand for nearly 40 years. This violin, created in the year 1741, is an outstanding late example of the art of Joseph Guarneri "del Gesù" of Cremona. It has magnificent deep red varnish and is in a wonderful state of preservation.
The Kochanski is considered to be one of the great del Gesù's. It is from Guarneri's last and perhaps greatest period, 1740 - 1744. The maple back is a mirror image of the "Ysaye" from the year before. The wood of the top is cut from the same log as that of the "Vieuxtemps" del Gesù. The bass side exhibits a heavy, broad grain, while the treble side is of much finer-grained wood.
The tone of the Kochansky is much-admired and is very well-known in today's concert halls and recordings thanks to the many great performances and recordings made by Mr. Rosand over the past 40 years. It is regarded by many as one of the best sounding del Gesù violins in existence. This picture is included by courtesy of

Columnists Wednesday, Apr 02, 2003 James Roos Posted on Sun, Jan. 12, 2003 Virtuoso violinist BY JAMES ROOS jroos@herald.com Recalling his 67-year career as an acclaimed violinist, Aaron Rosand seems to remember more disasters than delights. ''Years ago in Paris the conductor Georges Sebastian asked me to learn the Khachaturian Concerto,'' he says by phone from Connecticut. ``But when I walked out onstage to play it with no rehearsals [because of a flood], what I heard was the opening of Lalo's Sympho nie Espagnole! It was a nightmare.'' The conductor neglected to inform Rosand of the switch, and because he hadn't played the Lalo in literally months, he had to shift gears and retrieve it from his memory on the spot. Even Leonard Bernstein let Rosand down. At his 1962 New York Philharmonic debut, though he got to play the Barber Concerto with Bernstein, the conductor was so busy fretting about the acoustics of then new Philharmonic Hall, he spent barely 10 minutes rehearsing the piece causing Rosand to stalk out fuming.
