Symphony Chamber Players, which he founded with violinist William Hennessy. withviolinists Wanda Wilkomirska, Edith Peinemann and dylana jenson, and singers
http://www.music.utas.edu.au/esptrio.html
Esperance Trio
'The Esperance Trio has been formed as a result of David Bollard's residency at the Tasmanian Conservatorium in 1998. Bollard and Christian Wojtowicz have an artistic association going back some three decades, while Wojtowicz and Rachel Bremner have been performing chamber music including the Duo repertoire since 1985. Therefore by happy coincidence the three players found that the results of their early collaboration were immediately more fruitful than expected given their short time together . There is also a fortuitous coincidence with the new era in which the Conservatorium is embarked. The invitation to be a resident ensemble is not only a vote of confidence in the future of the group but also an adventurous investment in the potential of the Conservatorium to nurture future formations and ensembles from among it's own. As alumni of the Conservatorium and for many years performers of established prominence in Australian musical life, Wojtowicz and Bremner will join Bollard who also brings a close and long association with the Con as well as an eminent career, to realise this new and exciting organic dimension of the Conservatorium and the musical community at large.'
Esperance Trio Member Biographies
Rachel BREMNER (Violin)
Since completing her violin studies with Professor Jan Sedivka at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in 1984, Rachel Bremner has not only been been a prominent member of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, but also notably active as a recitalist and chamber musician.

23. Johannes Brahms - Concerto For Violin

http://www.webitcreations.com/galvestonsymphony/composers/JBrahms_ConcViolin.htm
CONCERTO FOR VIOLIN
JOHANNES BRAHMS
Brahms composed this, his only violin concerto in the summer of 1878, and it was first performed at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, on January 1, 1879, with the composer conducting. Joseph Joachim, to whom it is dedicated, played the solo part at the premiere. It has been performed six times by the Madison Symphony Orchestra, in 1936 (George Szpinalski), 1946 (Roman Totenberg), 1963 (Sidney Harth), 1975 (Dylana Jenson), and 1991 (Itzhak Perlman). "One enjoys getting hot fingers playing it, because it's worth it!"
- Joseph Joachim Joachim promptly replied with a marked copy of the part and a letter of his own: "It is a great, sincere joy for me that you are writing a violin concerto (even one in four movements!). I immediately studied what you sent to me, and you will note a few remarks and notes for changes, but without the score, one cannot appreciate it. Most of it can be executed and some parts have a quite original violinistic flair. I cannot say whether everything can be played with ease in a hot concert hall until I have tried out the whole." Brahms incorporated several of Joachim's suggestions into the final version of the score, and rather than providing a cadenza for the first movement, he used one written by Joachim.

James Taylor Severinsen, Taylor part of symphony season
Doc Severinsen, Allen Vizzutti, Lou Rawls and James Taylor headline symphony's pops season. With the Grand Rapids Symphony's selection of a new conductor comes a 1999-2000 season that spotlights the works of American composers and one that brings a diverse selection of guest artists, from classical violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, to the popular Irish family band The Cassidy's, to soft rock recording artist James Taylor. "We've titled our 1999-2000 season 'Making Music. Making History,'" said symphony president William Ryberg, adding that several changes have been made to enhance the upcoming music schedule that celebrate the Millennium. The changes include highlighting the works of American composers, such as Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland, during each Classical Series concert, and spotlighting the music of selected international composers, such as Beethoven and Mozart, during the Casual Classics concerts, four of which take place in Holland. Concert tickets are on sale at the symphony box office, 616-454-9451, ext. 1, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday or by stopping by the symphony office at 169 Louis Campau Promenade, Suite One, Grand Rapids. http://www.anb.org/articles/18/18-03663-article.html
Ormandy, Eugene (18 Nov. 1899-12 Mar. 1985) In 1922 Ormandy married harpist Stephanie Goldner; they divorced in 1947. In 1926 he became an American citizenexactly five years and ninety days after his arrival, the minimum waiting time. His love for America was instant and lasting; he once remarked in an interview that he "was born in New York City at the age of twenty-two." It was at the Capitol Theatre that Ormandy revealed a talent for conducting when he filled in at the last minute for the regular conductor who was ill. Finding himself a better conductor than violinist, and desiring the additional $25 that came with the job, Ormandy chose to become the orchestra's conductor. This decision would change the course of his life. His conducting career took off after famed impresario Arthur Judson attended a dance recital at the Capitol and became enthralled with Ormandy's vigorous conducting. Under Judson's management, Ormandy became a conductor with the CBS radio network. In 1931 he began his association with the Philadelphia Orchestra after Judson booked him as a last-minute replacement for Arturo Toscanini , who was incapacitated by bursitis. To the audience's surprise, the unknown conductor more than filled the legendary Italian's shoes. This exposure led to an invitation to conduct the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra in 1931, replacing the ailing Henri Verbrugghen.
