Judith Ingolfsson (From an interview Fall 1998) Violinist Judith Ingolfsson attended the Music Academy of the West in 1997. In September 1998 she won First Prize in the renowned International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. The prize includes $30,000, a recording contract, Carnegie Hall recital, and concerto and recital appearances with major orchestras and a concert series in North America and Europe. Ms. Ingolfsson returns to the Music Academy to perform at the 2001 Festival Season Opening Concert on June 30 th Tell me a little bit about your summer at the Music Academy. I loved the beautiful nature and surroundings, enjoyed all the wonderful concerts and learned so much from the amazing musicians who taught and inspired us all. But the one person who really made it extra special was my teacher Peter Salaff. His tremendously generous heart and inspiring musicianship motivated me to seek out so many new experiences both as a person and as a musician. He is a truly extraordinary man who takes the time to make everyone around him feel special. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him. Does one moment or experience during that summer stick out in your mind?

WHAT TO PLAY AFTER A STRAD? JUDITH INGOLFSSON CHOOSES FENG JIANG'S VIOLIN
Violinist Judith Ingolfsson , the gold medal winner of the 1998 International Violin Competition in Indianapolis chose a Feng Jiang violin as her concert instrument.
A violin made by Antonio Stradivari in 1683 was loaned to Ms. Ingolfsson for use as part of the award. Upon return of the violin to the Competition, Ms. Ingolfsson had searched extensively for a more permanent instrument until she played a violin made by Feng Jiang. She liked the sound and the appearance of the violin, played it in concerts, eventually choosing to keep the violin.
Feng made this violin in 2000, it is a copy of "Haddock" , a violin made by Giuseppe Guarneri "del Gesu" in 1734.

This is a rare opportunity to hear this monumental work sung by one of England's premier choral groups right here on Cape Cod! This will be the Royal Choral Society's only United States appearance during the Jubilee year! Don't miss this epic performance!
