    Internet Philosophy FAQ
This is a list of questions that are frequently asked me about philosophy on the Internet and stuff about my page. Many of these questions apply to other pages and philosophy in general. These are not listed in any order. These are listed pretty much as I remember them. Can I link your page?
Yes. In fact, I find it odd that anyone would ask me if they can be allowed to type something, which is all creating a link boils down to. I know that companies like GE have enormous lists of regulations on linking to their page (I know beacuse I used to enforce them), but I don't have the same kinds of lawyers and corporate image specialists working on my site as GE does. Link away. Would you link my page?
I'm not adding links anymore. Sorry. Do you have any information about X , specifically their stance on (something sexual, usually homosexuality)
This is obviously a new field in philosophy, at least in forcing old theories to fit new ideas (cf. 'God is Dead' theology). I haven't a freaking clue, and I can't help you any more than
reading and understanding the freaking material yourself
    would.

    COURSE DESCRIPTION:
What place should sports hold in our lives? Many argue sports are a trivial pursuit with which too many of us are far too obsessed, others that our cultivation of sports is crucial to our very development as morally fit and socially sensitive human beings. Some argue the contemporary sports scene is nothing more than the expression of fascist fanaticism, others that it builds democracy and community spirit. In sports, we find a theater of the human condition, as many of us avidly follow the narratives of various players or teams. It could be easily argued we spend more time talking about or watching sports (including on films) than we do in actually playing them.Certainly sports has many faces and many roles: whether professional, school, club or amateur, whether, coach, player, spectator or booster. And the number of types of sports is dizzyingrunning from NASCAR to Mountain Climbing to Basketball to Cutting Logs to, perhaps, Chess.
This course will consider a series of questions inspired both by our own pursuit of sports and by the way they serve as a cultural icon in the films we watch. What is the nature of sports? How serious is it to play? What is the difference between being a good sport and an effective competitor? What is the place of athleticism in sports?Of money?Of drugs?Of machines and technology? How do sports serve to define gender and racial distinctions, as well as to resist them? How does television affect our understanding of sports? While this course will not improve your swing, or develop your physical coordination, it will allow you to consider how either of those activities brings you into contact with a multitude of questions about the way you live and the way you play.

Dr Lesley Wright PhD, MA, BEd, Cert Ed
I started teaching at Brunel University in 1997. Prior to this time I have had varied and extensive experience of teaching physical education in a range of different types of schools and colleges.
As Senior Tutor , the welfare of all students in the department is very important to me and I do everything I can to make sure the personal tutorial system is as supportive as possible to students during their undergraduate lives.
As Assistant Head , I put a high priority on the department providing good quality learning experiences, through both effective teaching and the facilitating of learning in the many ways that are available to us in this University.
Research Interests - My research interests are focused on axiological, aesthetic and epistemological issues in relation to both sport and physical education. In my most recent publication I examined the status of practical knowledge and the distinction between theoretical and practical knowledge in the context of Physical Education. I am currently working on two different papers.
The first looks at the relevance and meaning of aesthetic concepts to our appreciation of sport; the second at the importance of play in justifying the value of primary physical education.

About the Club About Kendo Calendar Forum ... Gallery Welcome to the Hutt Kendo Club The Hutt Kendo Club was opened on the 4th of May, 2001. Since then it has consolidated and now has from 10 - 15 members depending on what time of year you visit. In 2001 the club was presented to the AGM of the NZ Kendo Federation and accepted as a member. Hutt has been forming an important relationship with its Sister City Minoh (near Osaka). The Mayor of Minoh, Mr. Kajita, and his officials have been trying to find bogu for the club and in July, 2001, a group of Minoh school students presented the Hutt with several adult-size bogu and several for children. Hutt, although a young club, was able to feature two teams for the 2001 and one team for the 2002 Poneke Challenge. In the first inter-club match at South Wellington Intermediate June 8, 2002 Hutt Kendo Club A team took the gold in the team event and also gained a silver (Jason) and a bronze (Dan) in the individuals after some hard fighting. At the New Zealand National Champs held in Waikato last August, Charles Gillespie won a fighting spirit award when he took on much higher grades than himself and did very well. But Hutt Kendo Club is not only about shiai (competition), we are proud of our contribution to sharing the Japanese culture via our Kendo and participated at the Hutt/Minoh Friendship house celebrations in May 2002 and also the Race Unity day in March.
