Die traditionelle Kampfkunst des Tang Soo Do Was ist Tang Soo Do !

Pacific Karate - Tang Soo Do History
During the 4th century A.D., wandering monks from China introduced Buddhism to Korea. Some of the monks were accomplished martial artists, as indeed they had to be for their own safety. There are reliable records of them teaching lay people martial arts.
The Silla Dynasty (A.D. 668 - 935) was a period when the martial arts expanded rapidly in Korea. The Kingdom of Silla was one of the three Kingdoms in Korea. It occupied the south eastern part of the Korean Peninsula. The Kingdom was notable for the military prowess of its young warrior class, the Hwa Rang. The five basic priciples of Tang Soo Do are derived from the principles of these elite warriors.
At the beginning of the Yi Dynasty (A.D. 1390 - 1907), the National Martial Arts Manual, "Moo Yei Do Bo Tong Ji", was published, and the term "Soo Bahk Do" ("way of hand fighting") became widely used. During the occupation of Korea by Japan (1907 - 1945) the practice of native martial arts was prohibited. This prohibition forced many Korean Soo Bahk Do Masters to emigrate, or to practice secretly.
Following the liberation of Korea in 1945, the Moo Duk Kwan ("Institute of Martial Virtue") and four other Martial Art Schools were formed. The Moo Duk Kwan and Chi Do Kwan later formed the Korean Soo Bahk Do Association in 1960 to develop the study and practice of traditional Korean martial arts.

The Martial Art of Tang Soo Do Karate
Tang Soo - Hand Do - Way
is a Korean term to describe the Chinese
At the turn of the 20 th century, the Japanese annexed and occupied Korea as their territory. They placed a ban on all Korean martial arts, and even Hangul (the Korean language). Native Korean martial arts practice went underground. One Master Instructor was called Hwang Kee.
The lineage of Tang Soo Do practised at the C.T.C. Club can be traced directly to Kwan Jang Nim (Grandmaster) Hwang Kee, through two of his students, Grandmasters Tong Mun Kim and Chun Sik Kim . Both of these world renowned Grandmasters have even conducted seminars in the training hall used by the C.T.C. Club.

From those many Moo Duk Kwan practitioners , a corageous handful brought back the Moo Duk Kwan System to the United States .Credit is given to them for participating in the beginning stages of MDK activities in U.S.A. There were numerous Korean instructors who were certified by Grand Master Hwang Kee, who later came to the United States and started teaching the Moo Duk Kwan system beginning in the early 1960's. Kwan Jan Nim Hwang Kee made a second visit to the United States in 1974 . He saw a necessity for a national organization and asked to call a meeting for all MDK Dan members in the USA .

Wat is Tang Soo Do?
Tang Soo Do Betekend Letterlijk Hand Van T’ang (een Chinese Dynastie).
Hiermee wordt bedoeld ongewapend vechten. Tang Soo Do is een samengestelde stijl bestaande uit
60% Soo Bahk Do , 30% Noord Chinese Stijl (Ne Ga Ryu Stijl) en 10% Zuid Chinese Stijl (Wa Ka Ryu Stijl)

THE HISTORY OF TANG SOO DO MOO DUK KWAN
Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan is one of the most popular of Korean martial arts. Hundreds of thousands of martial artists practice the art around the world. The following is a brief history of Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. We compiled this information from the many writings of the Grand Master of Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. Grand Master Hwang Kee The modern martial art of Tang Soo Do is more than 50 years old. It began when Grand Master Hwang Kee began teaching it in Seoul, Korea in the fall of 1945. He mastered Soo Bahk Do and Tae Kyun by the age of 22. In 1936, Master Kee traveled to northern China where he encountered a Chinese variation of martial artistry called the Tang Method. He studied the Tang Method of Kung Fu from 1936-1945 and combined it with Soo Bahk Do to develop what he would call Tang Soo Do. Grand Master Hwang Kee has been the driving force behind the spread of Tang Soo Do throughout the world. He continues to head the Moo Duk Kwan from his headquarters in Seoul, Korea. The Moo Duk Kwan was one of the main schools of martial arts at the end of the Japanese occupation of Korea in August of 1945. Hwang Kee was the founder. Other major Korean martial arts schools in 1945 were Yon Moo Kwan, YMCA Kwon Pup, Chung Do Kwan and Song Moo Kwan. Member styles of the original schools expanded to many in Korea by 1950. They included Mook Duk Kwan, Ji Do Kwan, Yon Moo Kwan, Han Moo Kwan, Kang Duk Won, Kang Moo Kwan, Cheong Moo Kwan, Chong Do Kwan, Chong Kyong Kwan, Kuk Moo Kwan, O Do Kwan and Song Moo Kwan.

Was ist Tang Soo Do? Was ist Tang Soo Do? Sinngemäß übersetzt bedeutet Tang Soo Do : Philosophie der Chinesischen Hand.

Although being a relatively modern martial art Tang Soo Do is based on the Ancient Korean Art of Soo Bahk Do, dating back many centuries. Our Kicking techniques are based on Soo Bahk Do, and the soft flowing movements from the Southern Chinese Systems.
