Stare bojove umeni, ktere se stalo zakladem mnoha dalsich stylu. Zminka o nem je uz v japonske mytologii a hovori o nem mnoho povesti. Napriklad podle "Knihy starozitnosti" z roku 712 rozhodlo souboj mezi dvema bohy. Daito ryu patrilo k tem nejobavanejsim ze samurajskych bojovych umeni. Je velmi univerzalni, zahrnuje boj holyma rukama i ovladani ruznych zbrani. Pres sve dobre vlastnosti je zatim velmi uzavrene a pro verejnost malo zname. Nektere jeho organizace jsou rodinneho charakteru a verejnosti nepristupne, ale existuje dostatek takovych, ktere davaji sanci kazdemu. Techniky daito ryu jsou sepsany a serazeny ve specialnich seznamech nazvanych MUROKU. Seznamy se lisi podle jednotlivych odvetvi daito ryu a dochazi k vytvareni ruznych variaci technik. Studentovi nejsou detailne vysvetleny principy technik - je jenom na nem, aby tvrdou praci a intenzivnim cvicenim nalezl jejich podstatu. Pri vycviku neni mozne zkratit rozsahle zaklady, na ktere se potom navazuje. Vsechny techniky jsou vyucovany na trech urovnich: KIHON (zakladni), OYO (aplikace) a HENKA (kombinace). Daito ryu by nemelo byt povazovano jenom za zalibu, ale melo by byt soucasti zivota. Pokud se zak tomuto umeni nevenuje celym svym srdcem, pouze ztraci cas. A Very Brief History of Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu The Daito-ryu scrolls issued by Takeda Sokaku (beginning just before the turn of the century) include a lineage that traces the art back to the Emperor Seiwa, who, legend has it, won his throne when his sumo champion defeated his elder brother's champion. The actual founder of the art is said to have been Seiwa's descendant Shinra Saburo Minamoto no Yoshimitsu [1045-1127], who lived in a mansion known as Daito, hence the name Daito-ryu. The art was then handed down through his descendants, the Takeda family of Kai Province (modern-day Yamanashi Prefecture), until that family's destruction five years after the fall of the its most famous member, general Takeda Shingen, in 1573. A distant relative of Shingen's, Kunitsugu, made his way to Aizu in 1644, where he was taken on as a karo (senior councilor) under the Aizu lord Hoshina Masayuki [1611-1673], son of the second Tokugawa shogun, Hidetada. Daito-ryu tradition asserts that Kunitsugu taught his family's secret techniques to his lord Masayuki, who combined them with the principles of court etiquette that he had learned as

IAIDO at MAK I aido, is the art of drawing and cutting with the Japanese sword. Classes consist of traditional Iaido from the Daito Mushin Ryu (style) and related weapons training with wooden weapons that include bokken (wooden sword), wakisashi (short sword), tanto (dagger), nito-ryu (two swords), jo (short staff), and all variations against one another. All steel blades used in Iaido are shinken (true, hand-forged Japanese swords). Replica or homemade swords are not permitted. The History of Daito Mushin Ryu G raziano Sensei trained in Fusashima, Japan in the early 1960's under Takashi Kazumi Sensei in the Yagyu Shinkage Ryu. This style traces back to the Tokugawa shogunate (early 1600's) when the Yagyu family served as sword instructors to the Shogun and his family. When Graziano Sensei lived in Michigan, he studied the Muso Shinden Ryu (another very old style) under Masaki Shibata Sensei. Later, Graziano Sensei studied under Sadeo Kotaka Sensei in Ohio. Graziano Sensei found important elements in each of these styles. When he decided to pass on his knowledge of the sword to his students in Florida, he chose to include techniques from all of these styles. Because the merged style was not true to any one style, it would have been extremely disrespectful to have used his Sensei's style names for this new style. When Takeda Sokaku taught to Hisa at Asahi Newspaper, these techniques were things that Sokaku modified, to a higher lever than densho. So when Hisa taught to his students too, he wasn't teaching densho. There are a total of 2,884 techniques in Daito-ryu including sitting, standing, sitting versus standing, techniques to counter attacks from behind, throwing, pinning, and disarming techniques. There are aiki throwing techniques that rely on the mind and on timing, techniques based on the laws of motion, as well as those based on the meridian anatomy of the human body. There are also reverse joint-locking techniques, techniques that use applied pressure to joints, as well as techniques that attack the vital points of the human body. The movements of Daito-ryu are based on the movements of Kenjutsu.
