    Match Report
A disastrous opening 15 minutes put paid to Witney United's chances at Premier League Pewsey Vale last night as they bowed out of the Norman Matthews Floodlit Cup in the first round. They got an early warning after just seven minutes when Barry Flippance almost capitalized on confusion between Gaston Guei and Joe Miller but only a minute later the home side was in front. A long ball caught out the Witney defence and although Miller got a hand to the shot he couldn't prevent Paul Day from giving the home side the lead.
Within four minutes it was 2-0 when a through ball by Shaun Terry found Day again who out-paced Chris Meddes and smashed the ball home.

    Match Report
A last minute strike by Michael Beale denied Witney three points in a game which they dominated for very long periods. The home side had fought back from a goal down and looked to be heading for their second victory of the season until Beale's intervention at the death.
It was Middle Barton who were fast out of the traps and Andrew Robey who went close in the 2nd minute made no mistake just six minutes later when a mistake by Fergal O'Hagan let him in and he worked the opening before curling home.0-1.
This sparked the home side into life and they were on top for the remainder of the half. Kelvin Dowling, back after his injury forced him out of the Chipping Norton game went close when he juggled the ball on the edge of the box before volleying just wide. Witney forced a series of corners as even against the wind they were well on top but Dowling, Gaston Guei and Scott Dash were all denied by Mark Moss in the visitors goal.
The second-half was a similar story as Witney battered the visitors goal and it came as no surprise when after the ball bobbled around the area Scott Dash hit the post before Matt Tarry fired home the rebound to make it 1-1.

After this letter has been read to you , see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea It is interesting to note that 1/3 of the 66 books ofthe Bible is in the form of " letters ".The last 22 books of Scripture are letters written by the apostles to the churches and their co-workers. It is alsointeresting to note that there are 22 Hebrew letters in all, from Aleph to Tav (see Psalm 119) , i.e. from Alpha toOmega. If it seems coincidental that there are 22 Hebrew alphabets ( letters ) and 22 Epistles ( letters ) and both sets are " letters ", I would rather attribute that to the wisdom of God displayed. Do write in your letters to be read by all and do read the letters from all. May the grace of God be with you. Please send your letters, questions, articles or reports to John Tng at spirit5@singnet.com.sg Please note that it is impossible for even two like-minded souls to agree on everything. You should read these letters with this in mind and pray for understanding from the Spirit of Truth. Thank you.

Why A Duck? Postcard By 1923, after close to twenty years separately and in various groupings in small-time show business and in vaudeville, it looked as if the Marxes' career as a team was over. As it turns out, they were about to enter the most exciting phase of their lives so far. Joseph P. Beury had just purchased the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia and was eager to get a show going. Joseph M. Gaites had two sets of scenery which he desperately wanted to build a show around. Chico ran into Tom Johnstone to whom he explained the Marxes' sad state of affairs: that their decision to quit the Albee circuit in favor of the Shuberts had ended in disaster with the Shuberts quitting vaudeville entirely. Now Albee wouldn't have them back and they were at liberty. Johnstone grabbed Chico and dragged him to Gaites' office. Chico and Gaites were both in a bind. Chico, because the money was running out; Gaites, because he had three weeks before a theater opening with two shows worth of scenery and no show. After brief negotiations it was decided to build a show around the Marx Brothers. The brothers hastily put together a show using material from old vaudeville routines, as well as some new stuff by Will Johnstone. The music was contributed by Tom Johnstone and the Marxes had a show. After some dismal tryouts in Canarsie and Allentown, the boys brought the show to Philadelphia late in June of 1923. They were an instant success, and less than a year later they opened "I'll Say She Is!" on Broadway.
