He was then based in St Andrews working with Thomas Rodger. He became a professional photographer in Edinburgh the following year. He exhibited his work in the first three PSS Exhibitions, in 1856,57,58. Others had tried recording the images projected by a lens, but Talbot was the first to grasp the physical basis for realizing this dream and to conceive of a practical means for fixing these ephemeral images permanently onto a sheet of paper. But Talbot's considerable technical achievements have often overshadowed his growth as an artist. Larry Schaaf examines this artistic growth by bringing together for the first time high quality reproductions of one hundred photographs representing the full sweep of Talbot's work. These beautiful images are not only records of scientific triumphs, but also the evidence of the first steps in shaping a totally new type of vision. A classicist, physicist, and mathematician by training, Talbot originally viewed his new invention as a means of visual documentation, particularly of the botanical specimens he loved so dearly. Talbot velmi využíval svých rodinných kontaktù k proniknutí do vìdeckých a politických kruhù což silnì vadilo jeho oponentùm. William Henry Fox Tablot je známý jako prùkopník fotografie. Talbot byl vynikajícím studentem. Nejprve jej uèila jeho matka jejíž talent na cizí jazyky pozdìji pøispìl k Talbotovì jazykovìdné a pøekladatelské èinnosti. V roce 1811 byl Talbot pøijat na školu v Harrow. Od roku 1817 studoval matematiku na univerzitì v Cambridge (Trinity College). V roce 1824 se Talbot setkal s Johnem Herschelem. V roce 1826 seznámi Herschell Talbota Dr. Davidu Brewsterovi, kterým byl významným skotským vìdcem. Spoleènì s Brewsterem Talbot zkoumal svìtlo. Brewster také publikoval Talbotovy vìdecké èlánky ve svém èasopise. Talbot s Brewsterem zùstali na celý život blízkými pøáteli. V roce 1832 se oženil s Constance Mundy (1811 - 1880).

BIOGRAFIA Talbot siguió investigando con papeles de plata y procesos de revelado hasta que en 1841 patentó en Inglaterra el "calotipo" y empezó la verdadera historia de la fotografía en su versión negativo-positivo. Su "Pencil of Nature" fue el primer libro publicado en el que se incluyeron fotografías impresas. En 1854, Scott Archer's desarrolla el proceso conocido como "colodion" que Talbot interpreta como una derivación de su calotipo y cubierto por su misma patente. Muere en Septiembre de 1877.
