This is a list of most of the Taifa Kingdoms (Collins, 1983; Fletcher, 1992; Menéndez, 1934; Kennedy, 1996). I can't guarantee if it is complete. I've taken the Arabic names for the Tailfas from the excellent Al-Andalus site.

The modern name of Albarracin is based on the name of the original rulers. Also called Santa Maria de Oriente.

    Assalamu'alaikum Wr.Wb.
    Imam Ibn Majah

We know of Tahir Yuldashev only by the word of his enemies and his occasional brush with a stray spotlight. His childhood friends are afraid to talk lest they be suspected by the brutal Uzbek government of sharing their playmate's radical ideas. And those who know the leader of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) personally aren't talking either, except - with great caution - amongst themselves. Tahir Yuldashev is often characterized as the "political leader" or "spokesman" of IMU - the brains behind the brawn of operational commander Djuma Namangani , who was allegedly killed in November 2001 fighting for the Taleban in or near Konduz. Yuldashev lived in Afghanistan until recently, and still might be there. Rumor has it that Yuldashev was leading the men who fought the Americans in Operation Anaconda, though no trace of him has been found. Others have it that the Uzbek yahoo fled the collapse of the Taleban for the tribal belt of Pakistan, and that he's made his way back to his home-away-from-home in Tajikistan, preparing for a new onslaught in his old stomping grounds. About the only thing for certain is that Yuldashev (like just about every other important Talebaniac and

    http://www.arabicnumerals.cwc.net/
By M Erhayiem The IBM World Book Encyclopaedia raises the question as how the Arabic Numerals originated (!?) as appeared in an article contributed by Nadine L. Verderber, Ph.D., Prof. of Mathematics, Southern Illinois Univ., Edwardsville. The article states, as such, "Scholars do not know how Arabic numerals originated." "The Hindus developed the zero sometime after A.D. 600." The World Book Multimedia Encyclopaedia has largely ignored the work of the Scientists during the Islamic and the Arabic medieval era. The contributions of the Muslims and Arabs in the field of Mathematics were very significant. The great Harvard historian of science, Professor George Sarton wrote in his monumental Introduction to the History of Science[4]: "From the second half of the 8th to the end of the 11th century, Arabic was the scientific, the progressive language of mankind... When the West was sufficiently mature to feel the need of deeper knowledge, it turned its attention, first of all, not to the Greek sources, but to the Arabic ones." O'Connor and Robertson[2] published various articles about the contribution of those forgotten brilliance. Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khawarizmi Yaqub ibn Ishaq al-Kindi (801-873 A.D.), a Philosopher and Mathematician, who wrote many works on arithmetic, including: the numbers, relative quantities, measuring proportion and time, and numerical procedures. He also wrote on space and time.

    ‘Ulema of Ahlu-s-Sunnah
in Defense of Ibn ‘Arabi Salaam Allaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu,
I wish to take this opportunity to thank the Majlis al-Ulema of the Italian Muslim Association for issuing this fatwa of refutation against the charges made by LaMole786, Farrukh and others who have been making false declarations regarding our beloved and esteemed Shaykh al-Akbar Muhiddin Ibn Arabi al-Hatimi at-Ta'i [may ALLAH be well pleased with him]. I am taking the liberty of forwarding this to the London-Net list which Farrukh also posted the anti-Ibn Arabi posts so that its members can benefit from it as well.
May ALLAH reward you a thousandfold in this life and the Hereafter for taking a stand against the misguidance of the enemies of Islam - the Wahabbi, Salafi and Saudi.

This is a fatwa of refutation from the Mashaykh who sit in the Majlis of Ulema in Rome, written against false declarations by LaMole786 and Farrukh, may Allah lead them to tawbah and istighfar and bring them back to the sawa' Sabil.
May Allah protect this Ummah against those laypersons who, while being stonehearted to Rahmah and blinded to Haqq - dare opening their unlearnt tongues to spread lies against our noble forerinners Ulema' ul-Muhtadun, those awliya' of al-Rahman who are the heirs of Rushdah min al-Khulafa', the guardians of Sunnah and the listeners of secrets ar-Rabbaniyyah that are whispered between the veils.

It has been published in the original Arabic by Darul - Hawi in Beirut, Lebanon and has been translated into English by Shaykh Mohamed Mlamali Adam in consultation with Sayyid Omar Abdalla as The Key to Paradise , and by Dr. Mustafa al-Badawi with the help of Al-Habib himself, as The Key to the Garden . It has also been translated into Urdu by Janab Sayyid Abdul Mun'im Nazeer Saheb. It is the best seller among British Muslim: people have accepted Islam just reading this book, without even having seen Al-Habib. This is how Shaykh Mohamed Mlamali Adam introduces this classic to us: The roll-call of great benefactors to Islam and Muslims is inexhaustible. But no name-call can claim to be complete which seeks to exclude two towering divines: Hujjatu al-Islam Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali of Tus and al-Imam al-Mujaddid Abdalla ibn Alawi ibn Muhammad al-Haddad of Tarim. Besides being spiritual guides of the highest order, Imam al-Ghazali and Imam al-Haddad are widely acknowledged to have been dedicated servants of Allah fully wedded to the sacred covenant of "Am I not your Lord Who cherishes and sustains you?"

    • Myths and Legends: Aaisha [radhiallaahu anha] advocated murder of Uthmaan [radhiallaahu anhu]
During her lifetime Hadhrath Ayesha was a severe critic of Hadhrath Uthman, to the point that she advocated his killing. How is it that following his murder, she chose to rebel against Imam Ali (as) on the premise that his killers should be apprehended? Why did she leave Makkah, portray Hadhrath Uthman as a victim and mobilise opposition from Basrah? Was this decision based on her desire to defend Hadhrath Uthman or was it motivated by her animosity towards Hadhrath Ali (as)? History records that she said the following about Hadhrath Uthman "Kill this old fool (Na'thal), for he is unbeliever" The Other Villains of Karbala
In this partial retelling that concentrates upon what actually happened at Karbalâ, and conveniently draws attention away from the other guilty party in the ‘Âshûrâ tragedy, lies another tragedy in itself. For while Husayn's martyrdom has been oft commemorated, and his physical opponents and killers identified, cursed and eliminated, no one has spared a moment's anger for those who deserted him at the crucial hour Karbalah - Another Act of Treason
If I had to truly distinguish my Shî‘ah I would find them nothing other than pretenders. If I had to put them to the test I would only find them to be apostates. If I were to scrutinise them I would be left with only one in a thousand. Were I to sift them thoroughly I would be left with only the handful that is truly mine. They have been sitting on cushions all along, saying: " We are the Shî‘ah of ‘Alî... (Imaam Musa al-Kazimi)

    The Qarmatians in Bahrain
The Qarmatians also penetrated into Bahrain by the efforts of Abu Sa'id al-Hasan bin Bahram al-Jannabi, who was born in Jannaba on the coast of Fars. He was trained by Abdan in Kufa, and Hamdan al-Qarmat sent him to Bahrain in 281/894. By 286/899, with the support of the clan of Rabi of Abdul Qafs, Abu Sa'id had brought under submission a large part of Bahrain and also captured Qatif. According to Ibn Hawakal, the leader of the Qarmatians in Bahrain, Abu Sa'id al-Jannabi took the part of Hamdan al-Qarmat and Abdan. In 287/900, the Qarmatians acquired control of Hajar, the seat of the Abbasid governor. The Abbasid caliph Mutadid (d. 289/902) sent an army of 2000 men against them, but were defeated. In 290/903, Hajar was finally subdued after a long siege laid by Abu Sa'id. He established his headquarters at al-Ahsa (or al-Lahsa), which became the capital of the Jannabid rule of the Qarmatians of Bahrain in 314/926. Abu Tahir died in 332/944 and had made a will of succession for his elder brother, Ahmad Abu Tahir. Some also supported Sabur, the son of Abu Tahir; therefore, it was mutually resolved that Ahmad Abu Tahir would rule with Sabur as his successor. Sabur however rebelled in vain against his uncle in 358/969; but himself was arrested and executed. Ahmad Abu Tahir was poisoned in 359/970, and his elder brother Abul Kassim Sa'id also died after ruling for two years. In 361/972, Abu Yaqub Yousuf, the brother of Ahmad Abu Tahir began to rule until 366/977. Henceforward, the Qarmatian state of Bahrain came to be ruled jointly by six grandsons of Abu Sa'id, known as al-sada al- ru'asa.

    Ismaili Mission in Syria
Salamia, the city of Syria had been an original plant for Ismaili mission since pre-Fatimid period. During the Fatimid Caliphate, the Ismaili mission remained active in Syria. Later on, the Syrian Ismailis accepted the Imamate of al-Nizar during Alamut rule. Al-Hakim al-Munajjim Asad bin Kassim al-Ajami, the physician astrologer was the first Nizari dai to have come from Alamut to Aleppo. Bernard Lewis writes in "A History of the Crusades" (ed. Kenneth M. Setton, London, 1st vol., p. 111) that, "The leaders (chief dais) as far as they are known to us were all Persians, sent from Alamut and operating under the orders of al-Hasan ibn-as-Sabbah and his successors." The upper part of Mesopotamia, known as al-Jazirah was a big province, divided into three districts, viz. Diyar Rabiah, Diyar Mudar and Diyar Bakr (diyar pl. of dar means habitation). Amid (the Amida of the Roman) on the upper course of Tigris was the chief city of Dayar Bakr, where many Ismailis resided. In 518/1124, the inhabitants of Amid in Diyar Bakr launched massacres of the Ismailis and devastated their properties. Masiyaf is a town of central Syria on the eastern side of the Jabal al-Nusairia, situated at 33 miles to the east of Baniyas and 28 miles to the east of Hammah. The pronunciation and orthography of the name varies between the form, Masyad, Masyaf, Mayat, Masyath, Masyab, Masyah and Messiat. The stronghold of Masiyaf lies to the north-east of the settlement, at the foot of the Jabal al-Bahra. It was an Arab citadel, perched on a rocky limestone block. Like an impregnable fort of Alamut, Masiyaf was atop a projecting, almost perpendicular rock. It was the chief among the Ismaili castles, a veritable eagle's nest, perched on a scarcely accessible peak, and commanding a desolate ravine.
