We should synthesise the apparently differing thoughts. Without our attaching too much importance to these names and without laying too much stress on the concepts of Vishnu as husband of Lakshmi, Brahma as husband of Saraswati, it is good to give one name, the name of Pasalanatha to the Lord. This will bring to an end all the confusion of distinction. The word Pasalanatha also means that He is the head of all Jivas. This is a way of recognising the oneness of divinity. On the other hand, according to our Puranas, we can also reach the same conclusion by taking 'Pa' to mean Parvati, 'Sa' to mean Saraswathi, 'La' to mean Lakshmi and regard one who is the Natha of all the three to be the Pasalanatha. In the fourth line, it has been said that you must share your wealth with those who deserve to be helped. The poor people having families deserve such charity. Sanyasis who have no responsibilities are not in need of such charity. A portion of whatever you earn must be set apart for the future and the good of your children. A portion should be used for good purposes, for charity and for helping others. In this way you will be using your wealth in a sacred manner.

Learn to Play I had a teacher Like you, I needed a teacher to learn how to play the Mrdanga. I knew nothing about the mrdanga when I joined ISKCON in 1973 and for quite a few years after that. In 1978 Sripati dasa, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, returned to England after having lived in North America. Sripati Prabhu joined ISKCON in North America, although he was born in the UK. I was living in the UK, and that's where I met him. Sripati Prabhu had learned to play the mrdanga from Uttamasloka dasa, who was sent to India by Srila Prabhupada to learn how to play the mrdanga. Uttamasloka writes, "I learned to chant Sanskrit slokas, mantras and bhajans and I learned to play the clay drum called mridunga, as well as brass hand cymbals called karatalas. Between 1971 and 1978 I went to India 4 times and during those trips I was exposed to more of the Bengali style of mridunga playing and chanting. "The mridunga is used primarily during kirtans – congregational chanting of the holy names of God Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare It is also used to accompany bhajans, which are devotional songs of love to Krishna. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada When Srila Prabhupada boarded the Jaladuta to sail from Calcutta to New York in 1965, his mission was to establish temples all over the world. On board the ship he had 40 rupees, a trunk of books and a pair of karatals (hand cymbals). He did not have a mrdanga with him. In 1965 he incorporated his new Movement and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was born. As the Movement began to spread, new followers joined and new temples opened. Srila Prabhupada arranged to have the first mrdangas (clay drums) shipped from India so that his new disciples could play this traditional Vaisnava instrument in kirtans When the first mrdangas arrived in the temples, devotees started picking them up and practicing. Essentially, without a teacher, they taught themselves how to play. Although Srila Prabhupada himself did give one or two mrdanga lessons to some of his early students, by and large most devotees learned either by experimentation or from someone else who had learned from experimentation.
