Volodymyr Levytsky attended the University of Lvov, receiving his doctorate in 1901. After this he taught both mathematics and physics at high schools. The University of Lvov, which Levytsky studied at, was an ancient educational establishment which was founded in 1784. However problems arose between the Polish and Ukrainian populations after World War I. Ukrainian students were not permitted to enrol at the University in 1919 and the following year Ukrainian lecturers were banned from the University, only Polish citizens being allowed as lecturers. The Ukrainian students who could no longer enrol at Lvov University set up their own University, the Lvov (Underground) Ukrainian University, in July 1921. Levytsky taught mathematics at this new university from its foundation. The Underground Ukrainian University was financed by private donations and was able to survive for a few years but, when it was denied official recognition, it was forced to close in 1925. Levytsky headed the mathematics-physics section of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in Lvov. He served for two terms as the President of the Society from 1931 to 1935 and also was editor of the Journal of the Society. From 1940, until his death in 1956, Levytsky taught at the Lvov Pedagogical Institute.

s another political storm arises over control over Ukraine's airwaves, businesses that have recently started operating in Ukraine's politically charged TV and radio broadcasting market face losing previously awarded licenses.
The four new members of the National Council on Radio and Television Broadcasting, who were appointed in March by parliament, announced in late April that the council would not recognize any TV or radio licenses issued after Jan. 1, 1999.
In a statement addressed to former council members, the heads of TV and radio organizations, government departments and public organizations, the council's four new parliamentary appointees said that because the terms of office of their predecessors had ended in December 1998, they would not consider valid rulings or decisions made thereafter.
The National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting issues licenses and allocates broadcasting time, and the president and parliament each appoint half of its eight members. The four-year terms of the old council members expired in December 1998, and on March 16 parliament named its four new appointees.

Today, Ukraine has a strong scientific and technological potential, which includes over 200 thousands of scientists, among them 4 thousands of doctors and more than 24 thousands of candidates of sciences. Their contribution to physics, astronomy, chemistry, mathematics, biology, materials research and social sciences has promoted the high level of the development of space-rocket technologies, aircraft construction, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, information technologies and advanced sectors of economy. The major scientific schools in Ukraine were founded by such eminent scholars as Volodymyr Vernadsky, Mykola Vasylenko, Orest Levytsky, Volodymyr Lypsky, Danylo Zabolotny, Olexandr Bohomolets, Olexandr Paladin. As long ago as in 1920-1930, At the same time Yevgen Paton created a new trend in the sphere of the modern technology - electric welding of the metal materials. After the World War II under the leadership of Serhiy Lebedev, the first electronic computer in the Europe was created. The Ukrainian aircraft construction, which has begun its development from the pioneer flying machines of lgor Sykorsky was headed by Oleh Antonov and produced a number of exceptional planes, among them there are the examples of the 21th century's machines: AN 70 and AN 140. Today, the projects are being developed of putting space objects into optimal orbits not from launching grounds but with the help of the Ukrainian planes "Mriya" and "Ruslan". The efforts of Ukrainian scientific, design and industrial organisations participating in implementation of international space projects ensured the signing of the wide-scale agreements on Cupertino with 10 countries, including Russia, USA and China.

Unexpected Retirement Tryzub wing defender Andrew Levytsky has added fire to the rumors of his imminent retirement from FC Tryzub despite an appeal by club President Yosyf Sabir for him to carry on.
Andrew Levytsky, Tryzub's most experienced wing defender, had said on several occasions that he intended to quit the 'Krutoneri' after the Round Lake tournament which ended on July 13.
Tryzub's dreams of roaring through the semi-finals were derailed by the impropriety of Skokie Giants Dinamo, which bribed local media mogul Volodymyr Pavelchak. Sabir asked Levytsky to stay on for at least part of the August tournament in Zhidivshchina.
'I have thought a lot about FC Tryzub and the injuries that plague me. My decision must accomodate my team, but not ignore the needs of my body,' Levytsky said in comments reported by Ukrainian Village media on Sunday.
'Sabir and my teammates from the FC Tryzub squad have tried to change my mind but the fundamental thing is that someone whose body has suffered the demands of years of soccer cannot think about playing in the highly physical tournaments that face FC Tryzub in their next campaigns,' said Levytsky.
Club Vice President Yuriy Bondatsov said if Levytsky stayed on for another year it would give him time to try to find a young replacement for the
man who has been Tryzub's left back since the late 1990's.

Our Iconostasis is unusual as the icons are made of cut coloured glass set in fibreglass in aluminium frames. They bear colourful designs painted by the Ukrainian artist Myron Levytsky of Toronto, Canada who is also the creator of all pictures and murals in the church. The interior of the church reminds the faithful of their relation to God. The Iconostasis tells of salvation, the cupola symbolises heaven and the murals depict scenes from church history and from the lives of the Saints. In the Sanctuary can be seen an unusual pictorial representation of the institution of the Holy Eucharist: Christ and the Apostles are standing and the Blessed Virgin Mary is also present. A Dove, the symbol of the Holy Spirit, dominates the Sanctuary from the ceiling.
