In the past, the VRD has put up about $5-7,000 for each trip, but now donate ice time for the Skate-a-thon. Would only call on the money if they fall short in their fundraising goals. People are cutting down on their donations and he may need help this time. Nino asked for a written request and for the dates of the trip. Merv will supply. The trip is scheduled for December 14th, 2003 to January 1st, 2004. The funds must be raised by July or August 2003. While in pro forma session until Congress returns on November 12th, there is little expectation that Congress will meet in full legislative session until then when Congress will hold a lame duck session to try and finish up critical legislative business. The most important matters to be dealt with are 11 of the 13 annual appropriations bills that have not yet been enacted including the Labor-HHS-Education bill which funds trauma related programs. Other bills that may see action during the lame duck session:
