82. The Lamb Dipole
The lamb dipole is named after Sir horace lamb who in the second edition of histreatise Hydrodynamics (1895) considered this solution in a rather sketchy way
http://www.fluid.tue.nl/users/jos/VDG/lamb-dip.html
The Lamb dipole
The Lamb dipole is a dipolar vortex structure with a continuous vorticity distribution within a circular region. This dipole moves along a staight line with a constant velocity and without change of form. It is a stationary solution of the two-dimensional vorticity equation (Navier-Stokes equation) when there are no viscous effects and the domain is infinite.
When viscous effects play a role, the vorticity is spread over a larger area and the dipole decreases in strength, so that the velocity also decreases in the course of time; the motion remains along a straight line though. In case the domain is finite, the velocity of the dipole is less than in an infinite domain.
A somewhat more precise description
The Lamb dipole has a continuous vorticity distribution within a circle of radius a . Inside this circle there is a linear relationship between the vorticity omega and the streamfunction psi , namely: omega=k psi , where k is a constant given by ak=3.83 . Outside this circle there is no vorticity: omega=0 . The flow outside the dipole is a potential flow: a two-dimensional flow around a circular cylinder placed in a flow field with a uniform velocity U , as sketched below.

plate wave, guided wave A type of ultrasonic wave propagation in which the wave is guided between two parallel surfaces of the test object. For an object sufficiently thin to allow penetration to the opposite surface, e.g. a plate having a thickness of the order of a wavelenght or so, Rayleigh waves degenerate to Lamb waves, which can be propagate in a number of modes, either symmetrical or antisymmetrical . The velocity is dependent on the product of frequency and material thickness. Lamb waves are named for Horace Lamb, in honor of his fundamental contributions to this subject. Investigation on Lamb and leaky Lamb waves have been carried out continuously since their discovery and researchers have done theoretical and experimental work for different purposes, ranging from seismology and the ship construction industry to acoustic microscopy, non-destructive testing and acoustic sensors. Synonymous terms are guided wave and plate wave

Computers only recently became powerful enough to illuminate simple examples of this great classical problem. In some cases, they will let engineers control it. by Parviz Moin and John Kim We all pass through life surroundedand even sustainedby the flow of fluids. Blood moves through the vessels in our bodies, and air (a fluid, properly speaking) flows into our lungs. Our vehicles move through our planet's blanket of air or across its lakes and seas, powered by still other fluids, such as fuel and oxidizer, that mix in the combustion chambers of engines. Indeed, many of the environmental or energy-related issues we face today cannot possibly be confronted without detailed knowledge of the mechanics of fluids. Practically all the fluid flows that interest scientists and engineers are turbulent ones; turbulence is the rule, not the exception, in fluid dynamics. A solid grasp of turbulence, for example, can allow engineers to reduce the aerodynamic drag on an automobile or a

http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/dave_matson/young-earth/specific_argument
Library Modern Documents Dave Matson Young Earth ... Specific Arguments : Magnetic Field
Young-earth "proof" #11: Since the earth's magnetic field is decaying at an exponential rate, its strength would have been unrealistically high 25,000 years ago. Thus, Earth is less than 25,000 years old.
Dr. Hovind is almost certainly talking about Barnes's magnetic field argument (1973) or some echo of it. Henry Morris, himself, once praised it as one of the best arguments for a young earth. In 1971 Barnes took about 25 measurements of the earth's magnetic field strength (originally assembled by Keith McDonald and Robert Gunst (1967)) and fitted them to an exponential decay curve. He drew upon Sir Horace Lamb's 1883 paper as theoretical justification for this. Following the curve backwards in time, Barnes showed that 20,000 years ago the earth's magnetic field would have been impossibly high. Thus, he concluded that the earth is much younger than 20,000 years. There are several fatal errors in Thomas G. Barnes's work: 1. Barnes employs an obsolete model of the earth's interior. Today, no one doing serious work on the earth's magnetic field envisions its source as a free electrical current in a spherical conductor (the earth's core) undergoing simple decay. Elsasser's dynamo theory is the only theory today which has survived.

Bloomfield Cemetery
The history of the public cemetery in Bloomfield is somewhat unclear, as Susan Appleton wrote in "Bloomfield Cemetery Records, 1864-1967" (Santa Rosa Annex 929.379418 Bloomfield): ...this cemetery is one of the very few in California that has no administration running it nor records kept on it to my knowledge. In an obituary for Dr. Bruce T. Cockrill , it is claimed that the "old cemetery" was deeded by Larkin Cockrill , so that the lots are free of charge to the Cockrill family.
It is not clear what holding of Bloomfield property Larkin may have had, but it appears that the Hoag brothers , Jared and Cushing, had owned most of the property which became the Bloomfield Cemetery.
From Susan Appleton's deed search on the Bloomfield Cemetery: ...the cemetery was deeded in two portions, the back half in 1864 in a Trust for a Public Cemetery and in 1869 the front half by Charles E. Lamb, administrator of the Estate of Horace Lamb. March 8, 1864

98. The ECO's Plan
There are four exits from the building here the main entrance adjacent to theHorace lamb Theatre, the entrance next to the Substation, the staff only
http://www.cs.adelaide.edu.au/~kevin/Wardens/ECO-Plan.html
The ECO's Plan
This document describes the plan developed by the ECO for taking control of the building. Note that it isn't complete.
Evacuation Plan
It is not realistic to plan for every possible contingency, and since the Plaza building is directly connected to other buildings, the possibility exits that some of the designated evacuation routes and areas may be unavailable. The general principle of evacuating the building is to get people away from the source of danger. Since our building is cut into the hillside, this means the Plaza area is not away - it is the roof of some of the building! Keep alert when trying to marshall evacuees - make sure you have them in a safe area. This document contains the obvious evacuation routes. Note that a fire in a specific place may render some of the "shortest paths" useless. If there is an incident the Chief Warden should advise you via the WIP phone and via the PA system of areas to be avoided. In these cases there may be large numbers of people trying to exit down narrow stairs (Flentje holds 310 people). A very small amount of smoke will cause panic
Very Important
There are two stairways which span most of the levels: the main stairway and the one which exits in the staff club and the loading bay. Neither of these are fire stairs - they have no smoke or fire barriers isolating them from the rest of the building. Do not be fooled by the presence of fire doors at level-1 and level-3 into the rear stairway - there is nothing at level-2!
