Barenblatt The structure of the turbulent boundary layer at large Reynolds numbers [Audio] Chair: Norman Zabusky 3:15 PM Tea Close George Keith Batchelor (1920-2000) was a towering figure in fluid mechanics and contributed profoundly to many of its subareas, among them the theory of homogeneous turbulence and microhydrodynamics. As the founding editor of the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, a position he held for more than forty years, George exerted a profound influence on fluid dynamics and set exacting standards. He founded and led for some thirty years the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Cambridge, and made it possible for generations of first-rate fluid dynamicists to come together. George was instrumental in developing EUROMECH as a major force for mechanics in Europe. A long list of monographs of great quality and longevity emerged during his editorship for forty-five years of Cambridge Monographs on Mechanics and Applied Mathematics.

The PROSSER Family Rees Prosser Born 1800 in Merthyr Cynog Brecon This image of Merthyr Cynog Parish Church was taken in 1998. The Travels of REES PROSSER Born in Merthyr Cynog in 1800 He was in Aberystruth Parish, Monmouthshire when he married : Rees Prosser (Aberystruth) to Ann Davies (Trevethin) in Trevethin 8/8/1827 They were in Nantyglo when Charles was born: Charles Prosser born 2/10/1828 baptised 2/11/1828 in Aberystruth Monmouthshire. The family were in Decazeville, France when Rees Joshua was born : Rees Joshua Prosser born Decazeville 8/12/1834. Anne Prosser born 14/4/1837 died 16/9/1838. The French records were taken from information deposited at Merthyr Tydfil Library by a French researcher who was looking for descendents of the "Welsh Ironworkers". Merthyr Tydfil at White Street and in April 1865 they were both witnesses at the wedding of their daughter Anne Elizabeth Prosser to George Crighton at St. John`s Church Skewen, Neath. Ann Prosser died and was buried in Pant Cemetery, Merthyr Tydfil on 15/12/1868. In the Census of 1871 Rees Prosser is living with his widowed daughter Anne Crighton and two grandchildren at Hill Road Neath Abbey.

The applied mathematical modelling skills will be presented with applications in the physical sciences and technology to show how these approaches give results of information not otherwise available. Henry "Hank" and Peggy Risley had struck up a conversation with Crighton and her fiance, Wade Abac Sr., across the table. "We just started talking," said Peggy Risley. "They were very open people and just very friendly." The Risleys learned that Abac booked adventure trips at the Aston Keauhou Beach Resort, where they were vacationing. The next day, Abac learned that Hank Risley and his 71-year-old stepmother, Nora, were booked on an around-the-island sightseeing flight. "He said, 'I'm going to get on that flight with you guys this afternoon,' and we said, 'Yeah, that would be great,'" Peggy Risley said. She said she did not go because she felt she would be claustrophobic in the small plane.
