Definition:
Rosicrucianism is a mystical, religious reform movement which some believe developed in Germany in the early 17th century. It was supposed to be based upon documents which purport to describe the life of a Christian Rosenkreutz who supposedly lived from 1378 to 1484. According to Rosicrucians, he had brought certain scientific and occult information with him when he returned from his travels in the Far East. As a result of what he had learned, he founded the order of the Rosenkreutz (Rosy Cross) which was designed to bring people together in a sort of brotherhood which transcended traditional religious divisions. Unfortunately, little evidence of their actual existence at the time can be found, but interest in them has grown over time and many modern groups try to claim Rosicrucian origins. Rosicrucians had a great deal o finfluence with the King of Prussia during the late 18th century - so much so that they were able to convince him to issue the Edict Concerning Religion in 1788. This edict demanded strict orthodoxy on the part of all preachers throughout Prussia. the Edict of Censorship in December of the same year, somethign which prohibited Immanuel Kant from publish on religious matters for a while.

by Percy Jantz, Feb. 4 2002 incorrectly
The birth of Rosicrucianism is almost universally attributed to John Valentine Andrea, a German monk. He was known for his charity and his attempts to promote the betterment of mankind through study and learning.
Scholars believe it was he, in 1614, who published a fictional book called "The Chemical Marriage" by Christian Rosenkreuz.
In this book, Christian Rosenkreuz is born to a poor but good family. At a young age he joined a monastery, and at some stage he is allowed to accompany an old monk on a pilgrimage to the Holy Sepulchre. The monk dies in Cyprus and Christian goes on alone. In Damascus, he is amazed by the wonders of the city sages and he places himself under their direction.
After three years of studying their hidden mysteries, he goes to Egypt for further study. Then at the direction of his Arabian masters, he travels to Fez, where there is an annual meeting of the African and Arabian philosophers, to compare notes on their studies and travels.
After several more years, he goes to Spain but getting a poor reception, he returns to his native Germany.

Rosicrucianism Compared with Freemasonry Larry Kunk - a former Rosicrucian Scripture was used to document the teachings of Satan and how the spirit of Anti-Christ is recognized. Teachings contained in Rosicrucian Monographs were examined. The spirit of Anti-Christ is easily recognizable. A group of Rosicrucian symbols were documented. At that point, the presentation was turned "inside out." Those same symbols are well known symbols of Freemasonry. The teachings of Freemasonry were considered. When the details of the Masonic plan of salvation are examined, the Rosicrucian character is apparent. Once queued past the title, there is no mention of Freemasonry until half way through the presentation. It should be quite interesting to a Freemason. It should ring a lot of bells before he realizes that the teachings of Freemasonry are to be examined. Rosicrucianism and Freemasonry are incredibly similar. Egyptology, Rosicrucianism and the Quest for Immortality
by Ben Best Rosicrucian Park in San Jose, California has an Egyptian Museum. It is the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities on the Pacific Coast. Many comparisons have been made between cryonics culture and Egyptian culture, so I think it may be worthwhile to write a few things about the famed Egyptian quest for immortality through bodily preservation. It has been said that ancient Egyptian civilization was the greatest "cult of death" humanity has ever known. For 3,000 years (ending with the death of Cleopatra) over half a billion people lived in a culture which emphasized mummification of the body and an estimated 50% of those people were actually preserved. Upon assuming office, pharoahs & nobles would immediately begin construction of their own tombs the greatest of which were the pyramids. Why did the Egyptians believe the physical body is so important for an afterlife? Egyptologists speculate that it was because the hot, dry desert sand so effectively removed water and thereby reduced decay of hair, skin and soft parts of the body. Therefore, when early Egyptians saw such well-preserved corpses they felt that the personal identity of the deceased must have been preserved also. The association of preserved familiar features with the living person or animal was so deeply imprinted in the mind that it was easy to imagine that some part of the person was "still there".

http://www.sacred-texts.com/bos/bos342.htm
Sacred Texts Index Previous Next Sacred Texts Index Previous Next Rosicrucianism Julia Phillips Esoteric Legend: the Rosicrucians were founded by Pharoah Thothmes III in the fifteenth century BC. The Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne was said to have founded a Rosicrucian lodge at Toulouse in the 9th century AD, and in 898 AD a second lodge was founded. Around 1000 AD a group of heretical Catholic monks established the first Rosicrucian college which flourished until the 16th century. It has also been claimed that the Brotherhood of the Rose Cross was founded by Templars after their order was disbanded by Pope Clement. Historical story: The Fama Fraternitatis appeared in 1614 (written in 1610), describing the foundation and purpose of the Society (Broth- erhood) of the Rose Cross. This related that a Father CRC, born in 1378, a German, poor but from a rich and noble family, made a pilgrim- age to Jerusalem. He remained at Damascus through ill-health, and studied there. He later travelled to Damcar, where he was trained by the Arabs, and translated the book "M" into the Latin tongue. He then travelled to Fez, and after two years to Spain, where meeting with ridicule, he returned to Germany. After five years he calledthree of his bretheren to him, bound them by an oath, and then founded the "Fraternity of the Rose Cross". They later initiated another four members, and decided to spread the word to other countries. Their by-laws were that they should heal the sick without charge; wear the clothes of the country they visited; every year upon a certain date should meet, or be represented, in the "House of the Holy Spirit"; each should search for a worthy replacement for when he dies; that the letters R.C. would be their mark; that the Order would remain secret for 100 years. It was later also decided that burial places would be kept a secret. It is known thatJohann Valentin Andreae, a Germantheologian, wrote at least one of the so-called Rosicrucian documents, but how much can be laid at his door is not known. It is also an esoteric legend (with some grounds in fact) that whilst an historical character called Andraea did in fact exist, that the Rosicrucian writings attributed to that person were in fact the work of Sir Francis Bacon. The three major objects of the Rosicrucian Fraternity are: 1) The abolition of all monarchical forms of government and the substitution therefor of the rulership of the philosophic elect. (This demonstrates that the Rociscrucians are, in fact, Platonic, despite their proclaiming themselves Christians.) 2) The reformation of science, philosophy and ethics. (Materialarts and sciences are shadows of the divine wisdom; only by penetrating the mysteries of nature can man attain reality and understanding.) 3) The discovery of the Universal Medicine, or panacea, for all forms of disease. In 1646 Elias Ashmoleand astrologer William Lilly foundeda Rosicr- ucian lodge in London based upon a utopian ideal of the creation of a new Atlantis. 1742 Next: Vernal Equinox Ritual from OZ (Julia Phillips)

Later on, Amenhotep IV, being a pharaoh and thus part of the GWB by default, came up with the concept of monotheism, in the sense that he instituted the worship of the sun as a symbol of 'God' rather than the sun being a god in and of itself. He also changed his name to Akhnaton (meaning 'pious to Aton', the sun god) and built the GWB a cross-shaped temple at El Amarna, which was reputedly the first monastery. He also came up with the rose/cross symbolism and the ankh, or crux ansata, which are blatantly sexual/generative symbols. However, the Egyptians in general went right back to polytheism when he died in 1350 BCE. Around the time of Ramses II, the Egyptian government and people started getting paranoid about the GWB, being as they knew entirely too much and held too much power. At this point, the Egyptian government was starting to decline pretty badly, so one of the order (Hermes, aka Hermes Trismegistus, or thrice-blessed, who was the Head of the order for a while) finally committed most of their info to writing on a bunch of tablets and books, in code so nobody but GWB could understand them. The writings were hidden, and not found again until about 400 AD.

It was around this time that they came up with their AMRA policy, which was to let people come from other places, get trained by the Egyptians, then go back and start Lodges at home.
