Prof. Peter Dalgaard The department conducts biostatistical research and development, participates in substantive medical research projects and offers biostatistical advice to Ph.D. students and staff in all disciplines of the Faculty of Health Science: Experimental and clinical medicin, public health and odontology. The biostatistical research focuses on methods of analysing survival data, longitudinal data, complex measurements in experimental medicine and epidemiology and interobserver variation. The applied statistical collaboration covers all areas of medical research and ranges from short consulting to collaborative projects lasting several years. The department teaches biostatistics within all of the programs of the Faculty: pregraduate teaching for students of medicine, dentistry, public health and human biology; teaching within the programmes of Master of Public Health and Master of International Health; and courses in the Ph.D. programme of the Faculty, both for medical researchers and (courses as well as advising) for Ph.D. students in biostatistics.

Interdepartmental Group in BIOSTATISTICS University of California, Berkeley Biostatistics is a discipline primarily concerned with the statistical analysis of data generated from biological problems, particularly in the areas of health and disease. The field focuses on development and application of statistical methods to provide better understanding and solutions to problems in such areas as biology, medicine, epidemiology and environmental health. The Interdepartmental Group in Biostatistics on the Berkeley campus of the University of California offers graduate programs leading to the MA and PhD degrees. These programs are appropriate for the student who has either a mathematical or statistical background with a major interest in the biomedical sciences or a degree in the biological sciences with a major interest in mathematics and statistics. The degree programs offer training in the theory of statistics and biostatistics, computer implementation of analytic methods and opportunity to use this knowledge in areas of biological/medical research.
