The Bit Encryption Method This method of encryption could have been referenced through the Computer Science section as well as through the math section. To encrypt the plaintext with bit shifting, you will need to understand the mathematics and a few concepts about computer architecture. The math you will need. The Binary Numbering System The Hexidecimal Numbering System Modular Arithematic Boolean or Logical Operations. The computer science concepts you will need. How information is stored in the computer How to move and manipulate bits. Let`s start with a description of how this method works. As in all the methods, you start with a plaintext document or character string. We will read one line of text at a time; this isn't absolutely necessary but to track how the algorithm works, it will make the explanation much simpler to understand. So, we read in one line of the plaintext storing the ASCII values in an array. The character set for the English language is stored with ASCII values between 32 and 128 or between 2 and 2 . Since we are going to deal with the bits of the characters, we need to represent them as powers of 2. Once we have this integer value we are going to do a little storage saving.
