A Business Partnership Made in Heaven In Summer 1998, Kevin met pianist Chad Twedt. In December 2000, Chad saw the potential that Kevin had with MIDI recording: a strong sight-reading ability combined with an uncanny ability to quickly dissect and yet fully comprehend music, combined with his ability to hear what music sounds like right down to the most detailed level, which was brought about through his previously-mentioned intense study of recordings at half of their speed at a very young age. These combined skills are skills that few if any in the world have, and understandably so, for who else would want to listen to thousands of recordings at half their original speed? Most people would consider that an effective method of torture. Kevin was extremely critical and skeptical about Chad's idea for several months, until Chad was finally able to convince Kevin in May 2001 that his abilities were unique and something that would be of world interest. May 2001 marked the launch of Kevin's recording career, and by the beginning of July 2001, Kevin had already finished recording the complete Chopin-Godowsky etudes, pieces he had only started reading in June 2001. Chad supports Kevin today by doing all of his audio engineering, marketing, graphic/web design, production and distribution. Kevin lives today in Reno, Nevada with his wife and two kids, and when he's not recording the most difficult literature on the face of the earth, he's giving private piano instruction, reading, studying nutrition, and listening to recordings. Kevin has also resumed tuning pianos, so that he keeps his tuning skills current. | |
