Water stored under the earth's surface is a plentiful, yet precious, resource in most areas of Ohio. Humans greatly affect ground water. However, the availability and quality of this resource are influenced directly by the properties of the geologic formation that holds water. The chemical and physical nature of these formations varies from area to area, creating a wide range of water yields and quality at different depths. This publication contains information about the ground-water resources underlying Delaware County. Its purpose is to help the reader better understand the factors that influence the quantity and quality of ground water. Water resources terminology used in this publication is included in Surface and Ground Water Terminology , fact sheet AEX-460, which provides a listing of generally accepted water resource definitions. Fact sheet AEX-460 and the publication Delaware County Water Resources , AEX-480.21, are available through your county Extension office.

Our Mission The Water Resources Board mission is to ensure that rules which guide the management of Vermont's water resources and wetlands are adopted and (on appeal) are interpreted, by a citizen board which is independent of the Agency of Natural Resources (ANR). The Board provides meaningful citizen involvement and oversight in the adoption and implementation of Vermont's water resources management and wetland protection policies and provides for an administrative appeal from related regulatory decisions of the ANR. The protection of water quality, resolution of conflicting uses of public waters, the designation and protection of significant wetlands and the designation of outstanding resource waters in a manner consistent with the public interest are the major results toward which the Board's activities are directed.
Contact Information The Board's offices are open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Board staff may be reached by phone at the numbers indicated on the

The Institute for Water Resources welcomes Professor Peter Rogers, Gordon McKay Professor of Environmental Engineering and Professor of City Planning at Harvard University . For the next six months, Professor Rogers will be engaged in several activities including the Resources for the Future effort in defining a new approach to planning and a comparison of river basin management in the Australia Murray-Darling basin and the Colorado River basin. Professor Rogers’ research interests include:
  • the consequences of population on natural resources development conflict resolution in international river basins improved methods for managing natural resources and the environment, with emphasis on the use of analytic optimizing methods to incorporate both the natural phenomena and the engineering controls the impacts of global change on water resources, and the development of indices of environmental quality and sustainable development.
Professor Rogers has carried out extensive field and model studies on population, water and energy resources, and environmental problems in Costa Rica, Pakistan, India, China, the Philippines, Bangladesh and, to a lesser extent, in 25 other countries. His most recent work has focused on the relationship between Chinese electric power developments and their impact on global warming. READ MORE . . .
