Gene is capable of handling complicated databases with thousands of names, multiple marriages and divorces, adoptions, illegitimate children, and intermarriage between relatives. OS X NEWS: As of December 2002, the good news is that I have found an OS X development package I like, using native Cocoa user interface elements, and have found time to develop a test application (unrelated to Gene, but trying out several of the techniques I would need to use for Gene). The bad news is that using this package would require a ground-up rewrite of Gene, not just retrofitting the user interface part of the code. And it would probably only run under OS X.2 or later versions. In the meantime, Gene still runs well under the Classic environment of OS X.
