The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association, Inc. operates the oldest and largest YMCA teen organization action program in the nation. We have helped organize and develop Y-Clubs in the schools and other programs throughout the Commonwealth since 1912. The Kentucky YMCA believes in its members being active and visible throughout the community. Helping others through service learning projects, speaking out on current issues, and attending statewide programs that promote leadership building skills and cultural awareness are a few of the ways that today's young people can become actively involved. Our organization sponsors the Kentucky Youth Assembly and the Kentucky United Nations Assembly where students can get hands-on experience in local and global issues. Last Updated: 3-10-03

Youth Programs
"To build character among the young and to pursue educational, patriotic, social and athletic recreation." Those are the goals of the SPJST's statewide youth program.
The SPJST's youth program is a cooperative effort that reflects the great potential of the SPJST - young and old - working together to achieve common goals and enjoying life together. On an annual basis, youth clubs from more than 30 lodges across the state sponsor a wide range of social activities, community service projects and charity projects. It's about having fun but it's also about contributing to the welfare of the people of Texas.
The youth program is coordinated by the State Youth Director who works closely with seven District Youth Counselors who are elected by each district. In addition, the program relies on the support of approximately 70 youth leaders and numerous parents who volunteer their time to support the program.
The educational aspect of the SPJST Youth Program is an integral part of local youth club activities. State and local programs address a range of areas, including human relations, nature, parliamentary procedure, juvenile decency, arts and crafts, the fine arts, music, dramatics and ethnic tradition. Youth club members range from age six to high school senior.

Sponsored Youth Programs Kiwanis Clubs sponsor Kiwanis youth organizations that provide young people with opportunities to perform community service and develop leadership skills. K-Kids clubs in elementary schools, Builders clubs in middle schools and junior highs, Key clubs in high schools, and Circle K clubs at the collegiate level reach out to those in need and develop future generations of leaders. The Kiwanis Club of the Idaho Panhandle is proud to sponsor and provide support to the Key Club of Coeur d'Alene High School. How did Key Clubs
come about?
The initial development came from school administrators, whether Kiwanians or not, who saw value in the idea. Kiwanis International offered its assistance. The General Office developed a bulletin describing the Key Club plan, which provided structure information. One unusual concept of Key Club was that a Key Club was not a junior Kiwanis club and was not to be a training and recruiting ground for future Kiwanians. Yet it involved school administrators, whether Kiwanians, Rotarians, Lions, or members of other service clubs, that could accept and support the Key Club idea because of its goals and

About Sno-Gopher Ski Club
The Sno-Gopher Ski Club was founded in 1965. It is one of the largest Black ski club in the United States. The 1995-96 ski season marked the Sno-Gopher Ski Club's 30th year of growth and continuing commitment to skiing, and to aspiring skiers of all ages.
The Sno-Gopher Ski Club was founded to provide opportunities for skiing enthusiasts to ski more regularly and less expensively. The Sno-Gophers have traveled all over North America as well as Europe. Because of the club's extensive skiing program and the skiing proficiency of its members, the Sno-Gopher Ski Club is recognized as one of the nation's leading ski organizations. The Sno Gopher Ski Club is one of the founding members of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS) and is dedicated to promoting the sport of skiing within the African-American community. But the Sno-Gopher program is not limited to skiing. The club's calendar includes year-round activities such as biking, camping, picnics, rafting, roller skating, roller blading, tennis, horseback riding, and a variety of other fun filled endeavors. The intent of these efforts is to provide enjoyment and build camaraderie among members throughout the year.
